Chapter 218: Blazing Clashes on Hachinosu
by xennovelAll around her, chaos reigned—flames and choking smoke filled the battlefield. Weapons clashed in a dance of sparks, and the deafening noise of combat pressed in on every side. Charlotte Linlin could feel the tension building. She knew she had to drive back Garp and Sengoku and retreat before it was too late.
Otherwise, they’d never make it off Hachinosu alive.
Meanwhile, far away on Beehive Island, John got word from his men that Charlotte Linlin had gone alone to Hachinosu in the New World. He frowned in surprise, then his lips curled with excitement.
“So, Charlotte Linlin actually headed to Hachinosu on her own,” he muttered.
“What an incredible opportunity. Get ready to set sail!” John hadn’t counted on being handed such a once-in-a-lifetime chance.
He’d had it out for Karl and his wife for ages. Now, with payback finally within reach, he was itching to be first in line.
At the same time, John sent the message to Wang Zhi and Silver Axe.
The two of them owed him a huge favor—there was no way they’d refuse.
Zephyr’s fleet sat silently anchored at the Sabaody Archipelago, dozens of shipwrights busy coating the vessels.
From a distance, the calm sea held only their dozen or so Navy warships bobbing quietly on the water.
“Damn it! The World Government’s not letting us through.”
“Do they even realize how much time this is wasting?” Zephyr grumbled, standing at the prow with frustration etched on his face.
…
Charlotte Linlin’s form flickered in and out among the island’s center, locked in a fight with Garp and Sengoku that had reached a boiling point.
Fast as lightning and fierce with her sword, she held her own, but against two such powerhouses, she was starting to lose ground.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Every part of Hachinosu was gripped by war. Reinforcements from the Navy poured onto the shore, surrounding the pirates in hopes of wiping them out in a single sweep.
“Are we late?” Ledfield gazed over the battered island, his voice even.
“Bone Fist!”
The furious roar from the center of the island caught Ledfield’s attention.
“Emperor’s Blade!”
Clang!
A thunderous impact blasted Charlotte Linlin across the battlefield. She cut through a wall of fire, her body spinning helplessly in the air as though weightless. Blood and sweat flew from her as she tumbled, the wind tearing at her battered frame.
Her consciousness began to cloud. It felt like some monstrous force was ripping her body apart—every nerve was screaming in pain.
Still, she gritted her teeth and fought to stand. She swayed, barely able to stay on her feet, looking like she might collapse at any moment.
“Garp, you really think you can beat me with that? I’m not so easy to finish off!” Charlotte Linlin spat, forcing the words through her teeth.
Garp stared back coldly, silent as he shifted into a fresh fighting stance.
“Shockwave!” Sengoku swung his massive golden palm straight at Charlotte Linlin.
Ledfield’s eyes shifted to Linlin as she staggered back. “Hmm. Guess I’m not too late.”
He spread his huge wings and dove, dropping from the sky to land right in front of Garp.
Ledfield glanced at them with a mocking smile. “Two on one—when did the Navy start ganging up on a woman?”
Garp replied evenly, “When it comes to pirates, anything goes.”
“Iron Fist!” The words had barely left his mouth before Garp lunged, fist thundering directly at Ledfield.
“Hmph—Blood Bat.” Ledfield scoffed.
Suddenly, swarms of blood-red bats erupted from his back, filling the sky so completely that the sun vanished and darkness fell over the battlefield.
At that exact moment, Ledfield let loose a devastating punch!
Boom!
A massive shockwave swept through the air, forcing both fighters to leap back.
“So, you’re Ledfield?” Garp felt the force of his opponent and grew serious.
This Ledfield really lived up to his reputation as the third powerhouse of the Rox Pirates.
His strength matched Garp’s blow for blow. It looked like neither could claim victory anytime soon.
Once Ledfield pinned Garp down, Charlotte Linlin gripped her weapon tight, determination blazing in her eyes as she shouted toward Zephyr. “Emperor’s Blade—Breaking Edge!”
With Garp briefly out of the picture, Linlin threw herself at Zephyr, finally pushing him into a losing position.
The setting sun draped the sea in golden light, the waves sparkling as twilight claimed the horizon.
Against that picture-perfect backdrop, two figures exploded into a brutal clash.
“Garp, enough talk—let’s do this!” Ledfield had been itching for a real fight, and finally, he was getting the battle he’d been craving.
He shot off the ground, black wings slicing the air behind him like blades of darkness as he appeared at Garp’s side in a flash.
With a flash of excitement in his eyes, Ledfield drew his rapier. “Blood Slash!”
A crimson arc of energy tore toward Garp, pulsing with a chilling aura of death.
Feeling just how deadly that strike was, Garp didn’t dare hold back—his upper body darkened as he met the slash head-on with a fierce punch.
The fight between them only grew more savage.
Across the island, their figures darted and clashed—blades sparkling and fists colliding, the sounds of metal ringing out over the sea.
Garp let out a low roar as a torrent of strength surged through him. He clenched his right fist, coating it in a shadowy glow before slamming it toward Ledfield’s head. The fight exploded to another level, each blow echoing across the battlefield.
…
Perospero rushed to Katakuri’s side, his face tight with worry. “Katakuri, are you still holding on?”
Katakuri, still commanding his legion of mochi soldiers, replied, “Don’t worry, big brother. I can hang in there.”
Using his mochi, Katakuri had created a squad of dozens, each mochi soldier armored with a touch of Armament Haki. Every one was as strong as a Navy commodore—more than enough to sweep away the grunts.
“Great Eruption!”
Sakazuki and his team weren’t having it so easy.
All three of them were Logia types, skilled at fighting on a big scale, but the Navy had surrounded each with three or four vice admirals to keep casualties low, and things were looking grim.
Even Oven and Daifuku weren’t spared—each had two vice admirals coming at them. The only reason Perospero had managed to break away was because Luth’s strength was finally spent, giving him a breather.
The battlefield burned with wild fire and was littered with bodies. Katakuri’s mochi army tore through the Navy ranks with their unique skills, beating back wave after wave, but everyone knew this couldn’t last forever.
“Hey, Perospero—are we almost ready to retreat?” Katakuri gritted his teeth, pouring even more strength into his creations.
Perospero just clapped him on the shoulder without a word, stepping forward to meet another charging Navy vice admiral head-on.
“Meteor Volcano!”
“Yasakani no Magatama!”
“Ice Age!”
