Chapter Index

    “We’re almost at Loguetown.”

“Anyone need some Berries? You can take them from me.”

As Loguetown drew closer on the horizon, Ye Fan stepped forward and pulled out a ridiculously large pile of Berries—close to ten million, by the looks of it.

“Since I’ve joined the crew, I figure it’s only right for me to manage the ship’s funds.”

Nami was still a little hung up on Ye Fan taking back the Berries she once stole. Without hesitation, she pounced.

    “Really? You mean it?”

Ye Fan flashed a mischievous grin. The next moment, he dumped out all three hundred million Berries from his storage.

Some of this cash belonged to Arlong, some to Captain Nezumi. Just yesterday, Ye Fan had raided the entire Navy Base and walked away with the lot.

The sheer avalanche of Berries ended up pinning Nami beneath it.

While Nami was still buried under the mountain of cash, Ye Fan shot a quick look to his friends.

Zoro, Usopp, Johnny, and the others immediately understood and rushed over to snag a share of the Berries, so they could pick up supplies on shore.

By the time Nami broke free from the pile, everyone else had returned to their spots, acting as if nothing had happened.

Although Nami felt something was off, she couldn’t take her eyes off the Berries. She quickly hauled the entire heap back to her room, reemerging with only a million Berries in hand.

“From now on, if you need money, just come to me.”

“But don’t think it’s free. If you take 100,000 Berries, you’ll owe me 200,000 in the end.”

Seeing the smug look on Nami’s face, Zoro and the rest finally realized what Ye Fan’s signal was about. Borrowing money from Nami would never be easy again.

Still, not wanting Nami to get suspicious, each person took a bit anyway.

Nami looked like she’d just struck the deal of a lifetime. Once she saw everyone had taken some Berries, she smiled with satisfaction, gazing out toward Loguetown.

No doubt she was already thinking about how to collect her interest.

“Alright, we’ve arrived at Loguetown. Someone’s gotta stay behind to watch the ship. Let’s draw lots.”

Ye Fan popped up out of nowhere among the group, holding nine sticks—eight short and one long.

After drawing lots, it turned out Ye Fan was the one left behind.

“Well, guess I’m just not that lucky. Do me a favor and check out the execution platform for me, will you?”

Ye Fan spoke quietly to a visibly excited Luffy standing nearby.

“Don’t worry. I’ll take you there in spirit.”

“I’m heading out to pick up some ingredients. With a bottomless pit like Luffy on board, we need extra provisions.” Sanji emerged from the galley, a cigarette clamped between his lips.

Catching fish was easy with Ye Fan’s bait, but they always ran out of ingredients. And with Luffy’s bottomless appetite, they needed to stock up. Who knew how far the next island would be?

“I need to buy two new swords. You can’t call it Three-Sword Style with only one sword left, can you?”

Zoro had his priorities straight. Both of his swords broke during the fight with Hawk Eyes, and Loguetown was the perfect place to get replacements.

“I’m off to get some materials. Got a few new ideas to try out.”

Ever since Usopp got his sniper rifle, he’d been itching to try the special ammo Ye Fan talked about—armor-piercing, incendiary, all kinds. But that meant picking up supplies.

    “We’re sticking with big bro.”

“And keeping an eye out for decent blades, too.”

Johnny and Yosaku had made up their minds. Their own swords were just standard issue.

After Arlong Park, their blades were falling apart. Time for something sharper.

Gin decided to team up with Sanji. After all, buying that many ingredients was a tall order for one person.

“I need some new clothes. Left in such a rush, barely brought anything to wear.”

Nami was out to upgrade everyone’s wardrobe—not the first time she’d managed all the shopping for the crew.

“Oh, right—Nami, don’t forget that Eternal Pose. It’s the most important thing for sailing the Grand Line.”

“Once we get there, only an Eternal Pose gets you to the next island for sure.”

    “Relax, I know!”

As Ye Fan watched his crew head ashore one by one, his eyes settled on a distant corner of Loguetown. “No mistaking it. Dragon—you actually showed up.”

Right now the Revolutionary Army was rising fast, and Dragon wasn’t as swamped as he used to be. He didn’t have to handle everything himself anymore.

With more time on his hands, showing up early at Loguetown made perfect sense.

After all, his son was about to set sail—the very son fated to be at the center of the world’s coming storm. How could he not be concerned?

“The maelstrom is about to begin. Are you ready for it, Dragon?”

    New World.

    Onigashima.

“Kaido, time’s almost up. Have you made up your mind yet?”

In a vast hall, Karl, Charlotte Linlin and Kaido sat facing each other.

Now that Luffy, the Child of Destiny, had started his journey, Karl wasn’t planning on giving him two years to train. He wanted Luffy to fight his way straight into the New World.

Find Laugh Tale. Set off the war that would sweep across the world.

    “Wororororo!”

    “A world war, huh?”

“Karl, you’ve been plotting this for ages, haven’t you?”

Kaido grabbed his enormous gourd and took a deep swig, his mind drifting back.

He owed founding his Onigashima stronghold in Wano to a deal with Charlotte Linlin—she’d promised to help him when the crucial moment came.

What he didn’t expect was that this turning point would come decades later.

“You’re not getting a raw deal. In fact, I’ve even brought you a gift.”

Karl set down his cup and clapped his hands. A group entered from outside, one figure especially caught Kaido’s attention—Kozuki Momonosuke and Kozuki Hiyori among them.

    “Oden’s brats?”

“Tch! Kaido, a monster like you is bound for a miserable end!”

Bruised and bloody, Kin’emon spat out a mouthful of blood and glared at Kaido.

Raizo, down to just one arm, barely managed to open his eyes to look at Kaido. He wasn’t as spirited as Kin’emon now.

    “The Nine Red Scabbards, huh?”

“Looks like things haven’t turned out well for you lot, even after twenty years.”

    “Wororororo!”

Kaido looked at the fallen samurai and took another excited gulp.

Back when he killed Kozuki Oden, it was these so-called retainers who spread talk of revenge twenty years later—of one day opening up Wano and coming for him.

He didn’t fear a bunch of insects seeking payback, but it was a direct challenge to his authority to have them disappear right under his nose.

Never expected you’d fall back into my hands.

Kaido’s massive frame loomed as he walked to Kin’emon, thick right arm gripping Kin’emon’s head and lifting him up.

“What happened to Oden—I do feel a bit sorry, but you lot should join him down below.”
