Chapter 508: The Tide of Legends Draws Near
by xennovel“You all know my strength perfectly well.”
Buggy glared irritably at Luffy and the others. “So whose strength are you planning to use, then?”
“If they say they’ll make it, then they’ll make it!”
Luffy clenched his fist, pushing back against Buggy’s snide remark.
“He says we’ll make it, so that’s that. Hmph, do whatever you want. You’re all so weird—I’m going to sleep.”
Buggy had no interest in listening to Luffy’s nonsense. He half-reclined on the deck, turning his back and rear toward Luffy.
The three ‘imagining experts’ rushed over to Buggy and immediately started bombarding him with persuasion.
Imagination Expert #1: “How can we just keep wasting time here?”
Imagination Expert #2: “What about your dream to rule the world, Captain Buggy?”
They all stared unblinkingly at Buggy sprawled on the deck, determined to brainwash him into action.
“That’s true. If this era needs me, a miracle will happen.”
“But if the time’s not right, then all we can do is wait for the right moment.”
Buggy didn’t even bother opening his eyes. He just waved them off like it didn’t matter. After all, what could he even do in a situation like this?
Imagination Expert #1: “So you’re giving up?”
Imagination Expert #2: “I misjudged you. Damn.”
Imagination Expert #3: “Are you blind? Can’t you see how confident he is?”
Backstab Specialist (Galdino): “Honestly, I don’t see it at all.”
Galdino never thought those three so-called imagining experts were actually geniuses. It was like the big brains of the world had all gathered here—since when did brainwashing yourself ever work?
It was like reporting yourself to the authorities. Wasn’t that just plain dumb?
Imagination Expert #3: “That calm composure… now that’s the aura of a true king on the path to rule the world.”
Imagination Experts #1 and #2: “Now that you mention it, it’s true! Amazing.”
Galdino: “Still… don’t see it.”
“How could miracles keep happening forever? If you’ve run out of options, all you can do is wait, right?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, a roaring blast of wind surged from behind the ship.
Luffy, seeing their ship suddenly lurch forward at high speed, ran over to Jinbei and clapped his shoulder, bursting with excitement. “That’s amazing, Jinbei! Did you do something?”
“No, not at all. I’m just steering the ship.”
Jinbei was just stating the truth. He’d already figured out where this power was coming from: Whitebeard.
For every force, there’s an equal reaction. With such a powerful push on this wild ocean, the response would naturally be even stronger.
“I don’t know what’s going on, but let’s ride this wave all the way!”
Luffy stood once again at his prime spot on deck, raised his fist, and stared at the black dots on the horizon.
“Look, boys! The new era is calling me!”
“Let’s get this over with and take the world by storm!”
Imagination Fanatic: “You really are incredible. No ordinary guy could pull this off.”
“Captain Buggy!”
“Alright! We’ll make it in time now!”
Luffy couldn’t care less about anything else right now. All he wanted was to reach Navy Headquarters on time and rescue Ace.
“Uh oh! Look—look behind us!”
Someone quickly spotted the massive waves rising in their wake.
“What is that?! What the heck is THAT?!”
Jinbei kept his cool, steering them steadily forward, though the corners of his mouth did curl upward just a bit.
“Why’d those guys suddenly go all quiet?”
“Are they waiting for Whitebeard’s orders?”
“I can barely breathe right now.”
Koby and the others whispered among themselves. While wondering about Whitebeard’s next move, they braced under the suffocating pressure in the air.
“Hey, the sea’s been rising for a while now!”
The Navy soldier watching the shore shouted urgently to his teammate about the rising water level.
The Navy behind him didn’t waste a second. He grabbed his telescope from his chest and turned it on the distant sea.
A second later—”What’s that?!”
Ruuuumble…
The sound rolled in from the distance, shaking the entire Navy Headquarters as the ground started to tremble.
“What’s with all this rumbling?”
“It’s here—the seaquake triggered by that guy just turned into a tsunami!”
Garp knew just how terrifying this attack was. On the open sea, if the Whitebeard Pirates ever clashed with them head-on, this one move alone made Whitebeard practically invincible.
“That’s Whitebeard—Edward Newgate, wielder of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit!”
Garp never dared drop his guard against Whitebeard, his oldest rival. In the presence of a powerhouse like that, even a moment’s lapse meant total destruction.
“What’s that?!”
“A tsunami! It’s huge!”
A wave of terror swept through some elite Navy soldiers. Expecting them to take on this sort of natural disaster? That was a death sentence.
“Even if we outnumber them, don’t get cocky. We might still lose—and who knows, maybe we’ll be the ones wiped out instead.”
“That man has the power to destroy the whole world.”
Sengoku didn’t hold back, adding fuel to the fire. He wanted the Navy soldiers to brace themselves for possible sacrifice, not be paralyzed by fear.
“War is about to begin.”
“All hands—prepare for battle!”
Two massive tsunamis loomed overhead, blocking out most of the sky above Navy Headquarters. In seconds, they’d come crashing down.
The fear in the hearts of the Marines below reached a fever pitch.
If those tsunamis crashed down, Navy Headquarters could be totally wiped out.
How could such a powerful man exist in this world? With just a single attack, he could wipe out 100,000 elite Navy soldiers.
“What terrifying power… No wonder he’s a legendary monster.”
Doflamingo had always wanted to become a Yonko or at least join their ranks. But in the New World, his connections only let him keep up some shady business, like trading with Kaido behind the scenes.
If Doflamingo had the same power as Whitebeard, he could dominate the world.
As the waves peaked and teetered overhead, Dill vanished from his seat in a blink, stretching both arms out. “Absolute Zero!”
Streaks of blue-white light shot from both his hands, striking either side of the massive waves. The icy cold instantly froze huge sections of the tsunami, the ice rapidly spreading outward.
Dill’s Absolute Zero didn’t actually mean minus 273.5°C—it just sounded cool. His Paramecia-class Temperature Fruit let him control fiery heat up to 2,000°C or create a cold zone down to minus 150°C.
“Dill, you brat!”
Whitebeard knew him, but never expected that the little brat who once trailed behind Zephyr had become a Navy Admiral after all these years.
“It stopped! It actually stopped!”
“We’re saved!”
“That was Admiral Dill!”
Dill hovered in midair, using his Temperature Fruit to freeze the water molecules in the air, shaping them into two ice spears which he flung straight at Whitebeard.
Duang!
Crack!
Whitebeard smashed both spears apart with a single punch. The shattered spears plunged into the Inner Sea, freezing the seawater solid—including all four of Whitebeard’s pirate ships and a large number of Navy warships. No one could move their ships now.
“The inner bay is frozen solid!”
“Our ships can’t move!”
Dill meant to stop the Whitebeard Pirates from escaping, but in the end, he just caused the Navy Headquarters an even bigger headache.
