Chapter 509: The Storm Over the Red Line
by xennovel“Pull yourselves together!”
“Don’t be afraid.”
“We’ve got the strongest force of Marine Headquarters on our side—the Admirals!”
“Y-yeah, that’s right.”
“Whitebeard Pirates aren’t so scary after all.”
The Marines standing in the inner bay tried to hype themselves up, but sweat was already running down their foreheads. Deep down, they were nervous, with no real confidence they’d win.
“Fire! Take out the Moby Dick!”
“Boom, boom, boom!”
A barrage of anti-ship cannons thundered again and again, shells screaming toward their target.
“Alright, now it’s our turn.”
“I have to hand it to them, they’ve picked a great place to land.”
“Come on, let’s show them just how strong we are.”
First to leap from the ship onto the ice was Flower Sword Vista, sprinting straight for the bay with a crowd of followers pouring after him.
“The captains are all moving in. Keep the barrage going!”
At the same time, Marines jumped down from the inner bay, clashing head-on with the pirates. Instantly, the battlefield erupted into utter chaos.
Gunfire, explosions, blades and swords clashing—the sounds overlapped in a wild symphony of battle.
On the outer sea, the 43 Whitebeard Pirates fleets weren’t frozen in place. They kept firing their own shells, taking shots at the Navy warships anchored nearby.
The pirates unleashed a barrage of shells, aiming at the Navy warships parked just offshore.
But each time a shell came flying in, a Vice Admiral in the sky would intercept and block it.
“So it won’t be that easy to break through.”
“All the Navy’s Vice Admirals have shown themselves.”
“I’ve never seen so many Vice Admirals gathered in one place.”
“Even a Buster Call would pale at the sight, but since we’re up against Pops and our crew, it’s a whole different story.”
On the Navy side, two young Vice Admirals eyed the short, white-haired Tsuru in the center, quietly urging her,
“Gran Tsuru, you should step back.”
“Yeah, leave this to us. Go relax and have some tea in the rear.”
“Knock it off, you overconfident brats. Even if I retreated to the edge of the sea, nowhere would be truly safe.”
Vice Admiral Tsuru’s eyes grew dark and unreadable.
Just moments earlier, her intelligence unit had relayed new information.
After Whitebeard threw that punch, Revolutionary Army forces in all four seas had suddenly appeared, launching attacks on allied nations everywhere. The scale and numbers were so massive, she realized this war would decide not just the fate of the Navy and the Whitebeard Pirates, but also that of the World Government and the Revolutionaries.
“Get the ships up onto the ice and wipe them out—target the inner bay! Charge!”
“For Pops, we’d lay down our lives without hesitation!”
“Right on time, Navy HQ is waiting! Move out, Giant Whirlpool Spider Pirates!”
“It’s finally over.”
In East Blue, Dragon finally relaxed as he watched the last remnants of the Army beneath the Red Line get captured or wiped out.
“Now, time to handle what’s above us.”
Thud, thud, thud…
“Dragon, battles in the other three seas have kicked off too. So next, are we…”
Kuma, holding the Bible in his right hand and a Den Den Mushi in his left, came up beside Dragon.
They had to decide: move to support the other seas, or take the main passage and storm the Red Line first. The choice was Dragon’s.
“We’re heading up, of course.”
Dragon glanced up at the black clouds swirling over the Red Line, the corners of his mouth lifting in a faint smile.
“Yeah!”
Kuma put away the Den Den Mushi and with a wave of his huge hand barked, “Anyone with the strength of at least a Rear Admiral, come with me!”
“Everyone else, stay here and mop up any remaining Navy and World Government forces.”
“Yes, sir! The mission will be done!”
Every Revolutionary Army warrior fixed their burning gaze on the Red Line ahead.
The fight about to erupt up there was out of reach for most of them. For true powerhouses, even the aftershocks could mean instant death.
Still, nothing could quench the Revolutionary Army’s burning spirit.
If their actions could create a brand new future, then all they’d done was a glorious honor.
As the allied nations suffered invasion after invasion, the World Government’s channels quickly flooded with SOS signals from all four seas.
“Our Army units weren’t able to suppress the local Revolutionaries? How are the battle reports coming in like this?”
Marcus slammed a stack of files onto the conference table in anger.
Without those member nations, the World Government’s foundation would crumble. If the Revolutionaries uprooted that base, the Government itself would become meaningless.
Derlin, in charge of intelligence, knew Marcus was aiming those words at him.
But even he had been blindsided. He never expected so many Revolutionaries hidden across the four seas would erupt today of all days.
“That’s a failure of intelligence.”
“We sent in loads of World Government agents to scout the four seas, but we got nothing solid on the Revolutionaries’ numbers or strength.”
“We always believed there weren’t many Revolutionaries hiding out there. Turns out, they were way deeper than we thought.”
Nassourang asked, “How are the Army units we sent to the four seas holding up?”
Usually calm, he immediately realized something shocking. If the Revolutionaries picked this moment of the Summit War to go after the World Government, then their Army units could be in grave danger.
Derlin answered with a gloomy look, “We called the commanders of the Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Army Corps, but nobody answered any of them.”
That statement made the Five Elders realize the Government was now standing at the edge of disaster.
If the Revolutionaries really wanted to strike now, they might have their eyes not just on those four Army Corps, but on seizing the Red Line itself.
The thought left everyone stunned.
If they mishandled this, Lord Im would surely think they were unfit to rule. The Five Elders’ seats could change hands, and for them, death was the likely result.
Woqiuli’s face turned red with fury as he slapped the table so hard it boomed.
“Whitebeard’s coming for us, the Revolutionaries want in too—so let them. We’ll fight!”
Nassourang jumped to his feet, both hands pressing down urgently.
“Now’s the time to conserve strength. Don’t rush into this blindly!”
“Maybe the Revolutionaries are baiting us to send out all our best cards, so the main base is left wide open. Then, striking the Red Line will be as easy as pie.”
His words hit like a bucket of cold water, snapping them all back to their senses.
Right—as soon as they scattered their defenders, the Revolutionaries might hammer the Red Line and turn their own move into a disastrous mistake.
“We have to take our time on this. Recall all troops, defend the Red Line at all costs, and wait until the Navy finishes their operation.”
Marcus touched the floor with his sword scabbard, signaling his final decision.
“But Derlin, this is your last chance. If Intelligence fails like this again, you won’t be a Five Elder any longer.”
“Understood!”
What could Derlin say?
Intelligence was incomplete, but he couldn’t take all the blame. The Revolutionaries had turned the four seas into a watertight fortress.
All he ever saw were surface appearances. He had no real method. To keep his place, he’d need to change strategy and fast.
