Chapter 529: Kaido’s Invasion and The Tipping Point of War
by xennovel“Wororororo!”
“Sengoku! Sorry to disappoint you!”
The ones arriving now were none other than the Kaido Pirates. Kaido led the charge, kanabo resting on his shoulder, striding out through the round opening.
“Kaido?”
“What are you doing here?”
Sengoku hadn’t received any reports from the Navy scouts in the New World.
Even though the Four Emperors had long held control of the New World, the Navy still placed scouts on important routes.
Their goal, of course, was to prevent the Four Emperors from uniting and to track their movements at any time.
But how could a massive Kaido Pirates fleet set out without the Navy noticing?
“Sengoku, is this what you’re talking about?”
King casually dragged over a bloodied Navy rear admiral—the very man assigned to watch the Kaido Pirates.
“Here, take him back!”
“Next time you want to spy on the Kaido Pirates, send someone stronger.”
Like tossing out the trash, King threw the battered officer right at Sengoku’s feet.
“Olsey, are you all right?”
“Fleet Admiral Sengoku… the Four Emperors… all the Four Emperors have moved out…”
Olsey held on with his last breath just to pass this news to Sengoku. Once he finished, his breathing stopped.
“Olsey? Olsey…”
As Olsey’s life faded away, Sengoku stood rooted to the spot, stunned.
A rear admiral’s death wasn’t nearly as shocking as the news he’d just delivered.
“All the Four Emperors are here? What are they after?”
“Could it be…?”
Just as Sengoku considered what he thought impossible, a Navy officer rushed over.
“Fleet Admiral Sengoku! A call from the Five Elders of the World Government!”
“Brrrring! Brrrring!”
Click!
“Hello? Sengoku? Immediately order every Navy commander to back up the World Government! The Revolutionary Army and Karl’s Pirate Crew have joined forces—they’re attacking Mary Geoise!”
Hearing this, Sengoku felt his suspicions confirmed.
Whitebeard’s refusal to leave, Kaido’s sudden arrival, the thunder that rocked the sky—it all fit together now.
“Understood. But Kaido is leading an attack on Navy Headquarters—the Navy might not be able to send reinforcements in time.”
Click.
Without giving Wu Laoxing any chance to respond, Sengoku hung up and waved his officers back.
“So that’s it. Whitebeard, you wouldn’t leave because you were waiting for this.”
“If it’s the World Government’s order, then we move out. Support them, now!”
Meadow and Snail, anxious to help, tried to leave as soon as they heard the call, but were stopped by Kong reaching out a hand.
“No. If our strongest leave, Navy Headquarters really will fall. And even if we try to leave, the enemy may not let us go.”
“The reason you were told to stand down wasn’t just a Navy move.”
With everything clear, Kong realized something crucial.
If Karl is orchestrating all this, then Kaido and his group aren’t the only surprises. There’s bound to be even greater forces hiding, waiting for an opening—and someone who can crush two admiral-level powerhouses with just Conqueror’s Haki.
Who’s to say Red-Haired Shanks isn’t lurking nearby, biding his time?
“Wororororo! Whitebeard, I’m sure you know what comes next!”
“Ah, brat. Whatever I need to do—don’t think it’s your place to meddle.”
Whitebeard easily caught Blackbeard’s implication. The top priority was stopping the Navy from sending elite reinforcements to Mary Geoise, so he put his killing intent aside for now and spared Lafitte and the others.
While they talked, the entire Kaido Pirates crew poured through the giant round gate and onto the ice.
“That’s more like it. Move out, boys!”
“Thunder Bagua!”
Leading the charge, Kaido swung his kanabo wreathed in crackling lightning—slamming down a strike that carved a hundred-meter-long, ten-meter-wide trench right in front.
He flattened the Navy’s hard-fought artillery lines in an instant, clearing a wide path for the pirates behind him.
“Dad, what’s going on?”
Marco couldn’t see why the Kaido Pirates suddenly appeared, or why they’d attack Navy Headquarters.
From the look on Dad’s face, it seemed like he knew what was happening. Was this what he’d been warning them about this whole time?
“I told you to take your brothers and run just so some seeds of the Whitebeard Pirates would survive. But it’s too late now. Since we’re involved, focus on staying alive.”
Marco didn’t get what Dad meant about focusing on survival. Was Navy Headquarters really strong enough to kill them, even with both the Kaido and Whitebeard Pirates launching a joint attack?
Whitebeard didn’t explain further. He hefted Cloud Cutter and charged straight in, planting himself between Kong and Sengoku.
For a moment, Whitebeard stood alone, fending off the former and current Navy Fleet Admirals all by himself.
Meanwhile, Garp was forced to switch opponents—now facing off against Kaido. The kanabo thundered over and over, smashing into Garp.
But Garp was no slouch; his strength barely dulled with age. His iron fists blocked Kaido head-on, even pushing him back again and again.
King set his sights on Tradis, another flier. The two clashed high in the air, battling like giant birds, golden and black feathers showering down.
Oars the Demon Giant didn’t stop retreating. Determined to open an escape route for everyone, he marched to the round opening and began tearing apart the rising massive gate with his bare hands.
The battlefield turned to chaos—the Navy’s formation broke instantly.
With swarms of pirates surging forward, some Navy forces fought and fell back, aiming to hold the circular wall beyond the harbor.
For a moment, gunshots, cannon blasts and shouts rang out across the field.
“Ye Fan, how are you holding up? Sit down!”
Chopper rushed over and helped the bloodied, battered Ye Fan to the side, already reaching for a Rejuvenation Pill.
“No need—I don’t need it right now. With all the top fighters locked in battle, we should be safe for now.”
Ye Fan smiled as he waved him off.
Even if he took the pill, this puppet couldn’t regain his strength. After all, this body was made of elemental energy—the pill wouldn’t work. Besides, he had a perfect chance to teach Luffy a valuable lesson.
With his Observation Haki, Ye Fan sensed Udyr creeping over—heading straight for Ace standing nearby and Luffy lying on the ground.
“Blood tainted by sin shouldn’t be allowed to exist in this world.”
Udyr, true to his ruthless creed, believed only by killing pirates could the killing be stopped.
