Chapter 68: The Birth of the Pirate Hunter Guild

Yorhan didn’t have to wait long.
Just an hour after Karl hung up the Transponder Snail, Yorhan arrived on the island.
He unleashed his Observation Haki and found Yorhan almost immediately.
“Tap, tap, tap…”
Hearing footsteps outside, Yorhan stepped out holding a machete in his right hand and Wiktor’s severed head in his left.
“Not bad at all.”
Karl hadn’t just been idling in Loguetown these past few days; he had already learned what Wiktor looked like and had memorized the faces of all his crew.
Seeing Wiktor’s head, Karl applauded, clearly impressed—he hadn’t expected Yorhan to finish the task so quickly.
“Thank you for your praise, my lord.”
Spotting that the mysterious visitor was none other than that formidable lord and his pet White Tiger, Yorhan immediately set down his machete and knelt on one knee, presenting Wiktor’s head to Karl with utmost respect.
“Alright, you’ve passed my test.”
“Next, let me tell you what I need from you.”
Seated on his golden throne, Karl looked down at him, not taking the head. Instead, he signaled for Yorhan to set it aside.
Karl was starting to enjoy having others look up to him like this.
“Please, my lord. I’m listening,” Yorhan said.
He was careful not to show even a hint of displeasure, bowing low without daring to meet Karl’s eyes directly.
“I want you to establish a real Pirate Hunter Guild.”
“Of course, I’ll give you some support.”
“Your task is to keep expanding it. If you run into something you can’t handle, call me.”
Karl split a large Great Revitalizing Pill into ten pieces, then pulled out another whole pill, using the Golden Light Spell to form a tray that floated it in front of Yorhan.
“You’ll serve as the guild master for now.”
“Swallow this big one yourself. Give the ten smaller pieces to the people you trust most and have them eat those.”
“The big pill will give you the strength of a vice admiral. As for the smaller ones, a normal person who takes one will get a rear admiral’s body right away.”
Karl watched as Yorhan’s face morphed into disbelief when he looked up.
“You can take the big one first.”
Yorhan knew that if this mysterious man wanted him dead, he wouldn’t bother going through all this trouble.
So he grit his teeth and tossed the big pill into his mouth.
“Mmm!”
He felt a burning heat racing through his body—the same formula as before. Not wanting to offend Karl, he quickly ran down to the shore.
Compared to Krell, Yorhan wasn’t as strong, so he had to soak at the shore for a whole hour before it passed.
“Thank you for your generosity, my lord!”
“I’ll never let you down.”
Emerging from the sea, Yorhan felt strength surging through every inch of his body. Joy lit up his entire face as he knelt before Karl again.
“You might have this power now, but I can take it back whenever I wish.”
“So don’t do anything foolish, or else…”
Karl always thought that when someone gained power too fast, there had to be someone to keep them in check—or else they’d make a mess of things.
“Don’t worry, Lord Karl. I’ll handle everything you’ve asked perfectly.”
Yorhan understood perfectly—he was being given a warning.
“May I ask your name, my lord?”
Yorhan looked even more cautious.
“Oh right, I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Karl—Lux D. Carl!”
“Captain of the Sixth Division, Rocks Pirates.”
“You’re a division captain of the Rocks Pirates…”
Yorhan was shocked. He never imagined his mysterious patron was a captain of the notorious Rocks Pirates. Good thing he’d never harbored ideas of betrayal—otherwise, with Karl’s power, finding and crushing him would be child’s play.
“My respects, Lord Karl.”
Now Yorhan was even more deferential. Though he was shaken to have such a powerful backer from the Rocks Pirates, joy far outweighed any fear.
With such support, his safety was practically guaranteed.
“Next, do this… and then this…”
Karl introduced several systems from Huaxia and blended them with the local customs.
The Pirate Hunter Guild would be headed by a guild master and two deputy masters, supported by Combat, Intelligence, Logistics, and Enforcement divisions.
Combat Division: One chief, two deputies, and further down, a gold, silver, and bronze tier—hunters capable of taking down pirates with bounties over a billion, over a hundred million, and over a thousand Berries respectively.
Intelligence Division: Responsible for gathering information on each pirate’s strength, moves, and unique traits, and giving them an overall rating.
Logistics Division: Tasked with mobilizing guild resources and managing ships.
Enforcement Division was simpler—handling corruption and discipline within the guild.
The two men continued to hash out the guild’s systems and strategies on the island.
By evening, Karl dropped Yorhan off at Loguetown and set off on his next journey.
First thing, Yorhan fetched his son, Yotia, from a friend and let him have one of the miniature Great Revitalizing Pills.
He hurried to contact all surviving pirate hunters from various places, urging them toward Loguetown, while he himself picked a base of operations there—the town that had given him a new lease on life.
In just three days, most of the pirate hunters were gathered at a manor in Loguetown.
Yorhan looked over a hundred-strong crowd before him. These would be the first core members of the Pirate Hunter Guild.
“I have an announcement to make today.”
Standing in the middle, Yorhan pressed his hands down to settle everyone before letting them sit.
“With the help of a great lord, we have received support.”
“Sirō Masato, Kunitō Ichirō, Fujita Katsu, step forward.”
He called out nine of the strongest fighters among them first.
“The secret is in this pill. Swallow it.”
“Is this for real?”
“What’s so special about a pill?”
“You’d better not have dragged me here for nothing.”
Sirō Masato was the first to voice his doubts.
To him, this was just an ordinary little clay pellet. What effect could it possibly have?
The others exchanged glances, no one eager to be the first to swallow.
“Don’t worry, the power is all in the pill.”
Yorhan urged the group on, not at all bothered. He hadn’t known the pill’s true power until after he’d swallowed one himself.
“I’ll go first—no need to hesitate.”
Obato was the first to step up. Towering at three and a half meters, broad-shouldered and thick-waisted, he wasn’t afraid of any little pill.
He was sure nothing so small could possibly harm him.
“Mmm!”
After swallowing the pill, he felt a rush of strength spreading through his limbs.
Though not as powerful as the big pill, the miniature one still made his body heat up, though not to the point that he needed a cold bath.
“Hmm!”
Seeing Obato’s reaction, the others got worried, suspecting poison, and glared at Yorhan.
“Hahaha!”
“This is incredible!”
Just as the rest wanted to speak up, Obato unleashed a punch, creating a gust of wind that made everyone take notice. They knew he’d never been this strong before—clearly the secret lay in the pill.
Everyone’s eyes were now glued to the pill.
A moment later, the rest exchanged looks and downed their pills as well.
“So this is true power.”
“This stuff is amazing!”
“Yorhan, will there be more of these in the future?”
Unlike the other brawny types, Sirō Masato realized right away—if this pill could be produced in quantity, maybe they could get more.
Given how many there seemed to be, mass production was clearly possible.
“Of course, but you’ll have to complete the lord’s missions to earn more.”
Now that they’d tasted its strength, Yorhan explained Karl’s plan to them.
Soon, the group was discussing the structure and organization of the Pirate Hunter Guild.
Sirō Masato and Obato became deputy guild masters, and the other seven were dubbed the Seven Chiefs.
