Chapter 95: Clash at the Island: The Navy and Rocks Pirates Collide
by xennovelAfter Rocks wrapped up the meeting the whole crew sprang into action. It didn’t take long for an undercover agent to catch on and immediately report everything to Fleet Admiral Hill.
Now the Rocks Pirates are making massive moves across the board.
Fleet Admiral Hill instantly realized the gravity of the situation—there was no question this was about the Heavenly Tribute.
He rushed to call Sengoku.
“Is everyone clear on this mission?”
“Don’t worry Fleet Admiral Hill, we’ve got it covered.”
“Good, pass my orders on just like that.”
Even after hanging up, Hill still felt uneasy. He immediately sent Admiral Wenhu from Navy Headquarters to back them up.
Three days later!
“Stay safe out there Newgate!”
“You too Karl, watch your back.”
Three ships set out, each heading in a different direction.
“Is this address legit?”
“It’s straight from Captain Rocks. It should be safe enough.”
“And besides, Shakky’s our current informant. She’s got guts.”
Charlotte Linlin saw Karl had his doubts about the address so she shared what she’d learned about Shakky over the past few months.
Turns out Shakky’s top-notch at gathering intel. There’s nothing in the New World—big or small—she can’t verify. She even sells info right there on the island.
So it’s Shakky, huh? Then the accuracy of this intel is solid.
“What, you’re not happy coming along with me?”
Karl decided to let it go for now and turned to look at Kaido standing nearby.
“Hmph.”
Kaido snorted and walked out of the room without bothering to respond.
Charlotte Linlin got up to walk Kaido out.
When she came back she shot Karl an annoyed look. “Come on, Kaido’s such an adorable little brother, how can you talk about him like that?”
“Hahaha, it’s nothing, really. I just wanted to tease our cute little Kaido.”
“Little Kaido? What does that mean?”
“Just a nickname I made up, think nothing of it.”
Karl forced a smile, realizing he’d slipped and said Kaido’s nickname out loud.
…
A few hours went by as they chatted and finally they reached their target waters.
Out on the open sea, a single barren island stood all alone in the vast blue.
“Captain Karl, we’ve arrived at the target area.”
“I see a small island up ahead. Let’s stop there.”
“Copy that, Captain Karl.”
Just as Karl was about to head back to his cabin, he caught sight of distant ships on the horizon.
“Stop!”
Davis was about to tell the crew to set sail for the island when he heard Karl shout and halted.
“What’s up, Captain?”
Karl grinned and pointed to the left and behind them.
“Relax, we don’t need to go. They’re coming to us.”
Davis followed Karl’s direction and quickly spotted a fleet approaching from afar.
“So, what’s our next move…?”
Karl dropped his hand and watched the incoming ships.
“Head over there. Let’s meet them.”
Davis nodded gravely to Karl, then hurried to order the crew to approach the incoming fleet.
With a target that big, the Navy was bound to spot them.
“Vice Admiral Sengoku, we’ve spotted the Rocks Pirates ahead!”
Sengoku, Garp and Zephyr immediately strode to the railing on deck.
Because of the Heavenly Tribute, both Zephyr and Tsuru had been reassigned to the New World.
Tsuru was managing things from behind the scenes, while Zephyr joined Garp and Sengoku’s fleet.
Zephyr adjusted his glasses, excitement written all over his face as he eyed the ships in the distance.
“Is it really Rocks himself out there?”
Sengoku took off his glasses and handed them to the marine standing by.
“It’s our old friends.”
“Hahaha!”
Garp burst out laughing at the side.
“Unbelievable, out of all people, we ran into Karl.”
That’s right—you heard it. Karl and his group had arrived a little later than planned.
Which meant they ran straight into Garp, Sengoku and the others who were passing through these waters.
Right now, the person Sengoku wants dead more than anyone is probably Karl.
“I can’t believe all my careful planning still ended with us running into each other.”
Garp tossed his cloak aside and grabbed a cannonball near his feet.
“No plan’s perfect!”
“Shoom! Shoom! Shoom!”
When Karl saw cannonballs flying at them from the sky, he immediately thought of Garp.
“Looks like we really have run into old friends.”
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
“Boom!”
Davis stood holding his rifle, the barrel still smoking.
Garp scratched his head as he watched the shells get shattered in midair by incoming bullets.
“Looks like we’re facing some serious opponents.”
Seeing that the cannonballs weren’t working, Garp stopped hurling them and leapt into the air, soaring straight toward Karl’s ship.
Their ships weren’t on the same line, so as they moved, they drew closer and closer to the small island.
Karl saw a figure flying toward them through the air. After a good look, he realized it was Garp.
“Looks like the fight’s on!”
“Old friends, old grudges.”
“Boom!”
In the blink of an eye, the two clashed in midair.
Garp made sure to keep the fight away from the ships to avoid any stray blows hitting them, gradually moving the battle closer to the island.
Karl immediately noticed what Garp was up to.
But actually, fighting on the island would be to Karl’s advantage, so he didn’t resist the idea.
Both fleets saw their leaders heading for the island and set a new course straight for it.
“Thud!”
“Thud!”
He eyed Garp on the other side, expression serious.
“Didn’t expect we’d meet again so soon.”
Before Garp could even reply, Sengoku’s voice rang out from above.
“Enough talk, let’s go!”
“Buddha Shockwave!”
“Iron Fist—Smash!”
Karl watched as Sengoku and Garp launched their attacks without holding back, so he didn’t pull any punches either. The clash broke out instantly.
As they fought, the group got farther and farther away, soon vanishing from the shoreline.
All that remained were the distant echoes of battle.
On the shore, Charlotte Linlin hefted her Emperor Sword and rode Zeus over to the Navy warship.
“Mamamama!”
“Zephyr, long time no see.”
Zephyr adjusted his glasses, eyes cold as he stared at Charlotte Linlin.
“I’ve got nothing to say to pirates like you.”
“Iron Fist!”
Zephyr used Moonwalk to charge straight at Charlotte Linlin.
After Zephyr left, Bogart glanced at Tradis and Dill beside him. They were Sengoku and Zephyr’s right-hand men, respectively.
They nodded, first signaling to the farthest battleship to quietly pull back.
Then, watching the pirates’ approach, they ordered the Navy to strike.
“Wave Slash!”
The sailors on board grabbed their guns and opened fire at the pirates charging from the shore.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Fields rushed forward, shattering Bogart’s slash with ease.
“Boom!”
He closed in fast on Bogart. None of the nearby marines could slow his advance.
“Hahaha!”
“A worthy opponent.”
Leaping in for close combat, he swung a punch straight at Bogart.
Bogart quickly raised his blade to block Fields’ fist.
“Clang!”
Feeling the force vibrating through his sword, Bogart’s face lit up with excitement as he looked at Fields.
“You’re not half bad yourself.”
Notty and Kaido were rampaging among the Navy, but suddenly a plain-looking marine blocked their path.
“Don’t get cocky, pirate!”
Notty didn’t hesitate. Locking onto Tradis he pressed the attack.
“Let’s see if you really have what it takes.”
“Eight-Level Fist—Piercing Elbow!”
“Thunder Bagua!”
“Armament Haki—Finger Gun!”
“Clang!”
“Bang!”
“Dong!”
“Sniping from the shadows isn’t exactly classy, you know.”
Peering through his scope, Davis saw Dill waving at him from afar.
Silver Axe saw Dill too and immediately launched a sneak attack!
Dill barely managed to defend himself in time!
“Clang!”
Gritting his teeth, Dill fixed his gaze on Silver Axe.
“Is ambush all you pirates know?”
Silver Axe just shrugged.
“Come on, you said it yourself—I’m a pirate, aren’t I?”
……
