Chapter Index

“Captain Liu, my fleet has suffered over 60% losses, with thousands missing. These were my comrades and colleagues. I can’t face such a massive loss. The two Sea Wolf-class pirate ships must remain here. I leave the rest to you. All mission details and classified information for the S-class Mission are in the shuttle on the planet,” the woman on the screen said coldly.

“Take care.” Captain Liu understood her meaning. To any captain, the fleet was their life. Though these losses were for the mission, no captain could fully accept such sacrifices. Only blood could wash away this shame.

“Thank you.” The woman said her thanks, and the screen went black.

Captain Liu looked toward the distant void. The two Sea Wolf-class pirate warships drew closer. Suddenly, one of the Jin Gang-class ships launched countless escape pods.

As the escape pods fired, the Jin Gang-class warship rose unexpectedly and, in an instant, split into 109 modular units.

Each unit ranged in size from tens to hundreds of meters. The longer ones measured two to three hundred meters, and the shorter ones were one to two hundred meters.

It turned out the entire warship was composed of independently functioning modular units of varying sizes.

The captains of the two Sea Wolf-class pirate ships turned pale instantly. This was like a giant shotgun unloading directly into their warships.

    “Fire!”

“Why are Alliance captains always such bastards?”

“Fire!” One-Eye and Baldy shouted frantically.

The Sea Wolf-class warships fired dense laser barrages, striking the modular units. The modular units retaliated with laser fire of their own.

This was the modular unit’s automatic attack system. However, without the primary warship’s energy supply, the lasers were much weaker.

But in the next second, Baldy and One-Eye went pale again. Yang Bo’s fleet, stationed behind them, unleashed a barrage of concentrated lasers.

The lasers from the two Sea Wolf-class warships managed to destroy several modular units.

But they were in the Void, and the debris of the shattered modular units, moving at high speed, rushed toward the Sea Wolf-class warships. It could be said that the pirate ships had thrown themselves directly into the Jin Gang warship’s modular unit array.

An ear-piercing alarm rang throughout the Sea Wolf-class warships.

The two Sea Wolf-class pirate ships, under the protection of their thick energy shields, narrowly avoided the Jin Gang-class modular array, alarms blaring. Before they could catch their breath, Yang Bo’s fleet from behind landed critical laser strikes. The Sea Wolf-class ships’ shields went down instantly, clearly hit in vital spots. One warship’s thrusters exploded, lighting up its rear in a brilliant display.

Countless escape pods fled from the two Sea Wolf-class pirate warships.

But at this moment, the modular units of the Jin Gang-class warship deployed drone fighters. These drones had recognition systems, and beams of laser fire struck the escape pods of the pirate ships.

One by one, pirates watched as their escape pods were hit by lasers, their visions fading to black.

Just as the commander of Yang Bo’s warship breathed a sigh of relief, an alarm echoed from within their ship.

The captain hurriedly checked and discovered that several of their modular units had exploded, causing the warship to decelerate.

    “Damn it!”

“You other warships, advance now! Exterminate all pirates! You’re no longer bound by wartime regulations, kill everything you see, including the escape pods!” Captain Liu issued orders to the remaining four Jin Gang-class warships.

“We are members of the Red Earl. The light of Earl shines across the galaxy.” Captain Liu swiftly activated the smart system for the compromised units and saw dozens of individuals piloting mechs, wreaking havoc and slaughtering crew members. Even the warship’s defense systems were malfunctioning.

“Red Earl?!” Captain Liu’s face turned pale. How did these bastards infiltrate the warship? Why are they now madly tearing it apart?

By now, some of the escape pods from the exploded modular units had been rescued by drones, but a small number launched toward Green Demon Planet.

    ————————————————————

“What the heck?!” Yang Bo was stunned. Just moments ago, he had been hearing a series of ear-piercing alarms in the bay, then suddenly, nothing. He thought everything was fine, but in the next instant, the entire bay exploded, and a massive shockwave flung him out.

Just when Yang Bo was about to summon his energy suit, a rescue robot flew over, pushing him into an escape pod.

Inside the escape pod, Yang Bo helplessly watched as the massive warship shrank in the distance. He could clearly see several modular units had exploded, while the rest were intact.

Further away, even more massive warships could be seen amid the debris, with dense lasers firing from fighter jets at escape pods.

“What in the world have I stumbled into? Even inside the warship, I’m not safe.” Yang Bo watched as drones retrieved other escape pods, but none flew toward his. His pod drifted farther from the warship, with a green planet looming in the distance.

Yang Bo looked up at the sky, watching countless fighters launch from his fleet’s warships and race toward him.

Just when Yang Bo thought one of the fighters was coming to rescue him, it flew right past and fired on the escaping pods from the distant warships.

“Weren’t they supposed to show mercy to prisoners? Aren’t escape pods off-limits for attacks?” Yang Bo still couldn’t understand the situation completely. Attacking people in escape pods was strictly prohibited. So why were the escape pods from the other two warships being attacked?

Shivering, Yang Bo watched as at least 10,000 fighter jets swarmed toward the enemy’s escape pods. As those pods neared the planet, they were all obliterated.

The enemy ships launched fighters of their own, but unfortunately, the four warships of Yang Bo’s side seemed to have far more fighters than the two smaller enemy warships.

Yang Bo trembled as he watched a fierce air battle unfold, with fighters engaging one another while also attacking each other’s escape pods.

Half an hour later, Yang Bo noticed he was closing in on the green planet.

“Oh, crap.” As he approached the planet, Yang Bo realized that the outer atmosphere was littered with debris. This was the remains of the planetary defense system.

The planet’s defense system had been destroyed. Had a war taken place here? There wasn’t time to think more, as the pod followed its programmed trajectory toward the green planet.

As the escape pod entered the atmosphere, Yang Bo saw that other pods were also burning and descending like red shooting stars as they crashed toward the surface.

Fighters from outer space also fell toward the surface, shooting as they went. In the distance, Yang Bo saw people and mechs set ablaze by the lasers.

“What kind of planet is this? There’s still ground warfare going on…” Yang Bo’s face turned green. Where had he ended up? He hadn’t heard anything about a war in the Alliance!

The escape pod, carried by a massive parachute, landed on a vast grassland. The grass was surprisingly deep.

“Air quality is good. A small amount of unknown radiation is present. Citizens are advised to wait for rescue.” The escape pod landed, and the onboard smart system immediately provided an analysis.

Yang Bo pushed open the escape pod’s hatch and was greeted by a gust of fresh air.

“What kind of grassland is this? Why’s the grass so tall?” Yang Bo looked at the grass, which stood seven or eight meters high, speechless.
