Chapter 101: Hunting Electric Eels
by xennovelYang Bo quickly took off his clothes and put on his energy suit, then grabbed his energy weapon.
“Wow, my energy suit seems to have gotten better quality.” Yang Bo couldn’t understand why his suit improved during the space jump. Could it be because of the special space it was stored in? If so, then he’s hit the jackpot. While others struggle to improve their energy suits, he can just jump spaceships? He whistled.
Yang Bo instantly turned invisible next to the Escape Pod. Seconds later, a colorful man appeared in front of him. This man was also wearing a suit that matched the colors of the grass around him, much like a chameleon.
This person had an ugly face, no hair, and a thick, hard layer of skin on his head. His forehead was high, and his mouth jutted out.
Despite his appearance, he held an energy weapon in his hand, emitting a faint blue glow.
The man sniffed twice, then lowered his head and skillfully retrieved a container of supplies from the Escape Pod. After opening it, he smiled, clearly satisfied.
Yang Bo didn’t move. The guy had just taken survival supplies from the Escape Pod.
“Is this the planet where the mecha game is set?” Yang Bo looked at the man’s fading figure. He had a familiar feeling when he first saw him and later remembered that he’d seen this type of mutant in the game.
Yang Bo used electric currents to damage the Escape Pod once more. Maybe it could store some data, even though the mutant had already damaged it once.
Now, seeing the surrounding tall grass, Yang Bo felt familiar again. He recognized this place. No wonder the grass seemed so recognizable earlier.
“Such good luck falls into my lap?” Yang Bo couldn’t believe the sudden fortune.
When Yang Bo killed small animals in the game, he was criticized by a bunch of people. But now that he’s on this planet, shouldn’t he go all out, especially with his skills?
Electric Power Control and Invisibility—these two skills must be leveled up to Grandmaster level.
Recalling the scene he saw from the Escape Pod, Yang Bo realized he hadn’t been to this area before.
“No rush, take it slow. First, find a water source, then look for electric eels. Let’s see if they can match my electrical powers.” Yang Bo decided to find water first.
After thinking for a bit, he seemed to remember spotting a direction where water was located.
Just then, Yang Bo heard some movement. He turned invisible again. Another mutant appeared, carrying another supply container.
The mutant inspected the Escape Pod, cursed under his breath, and was about to leave.
The next second, the mutant saw a shadow in front of him. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a weapon. It pierced through the back of his head, exiting through his nose, and his vision went black.
Mecha Repair +4.
“W-What?” Yang Bo was momentarily dumbfounded. What the heck? A mutant that could repair mecha?
But Yang Bo also understood. Due to his biological limitations, many mutant superpowers couldn’t be acquired by him. In other words, some mutant abilities weren’t compatible with his body or genetic makeup.
Yang Bo took a small biological sample from the mutant and quickly left. There’s no way he could transform into a mutant for now.
And sure enough, seeing the fighter jets flying overhead, getting spotted wouldn’t be a joke.
But it wasn’t all bad. It looked like the Alliance Fleet held the upper hand. Though he had no idea what was going on. Yang Bo walked in the direction of the water, whistling as he strolled through the tall grass in his suit without any trouble.
Maybe due to the arrival of the jets, the mutants didn’t appear nearby anymore. Soon, Yang Bo reached a river and leaped in.
“Ah, refreshing.” Yang Bo felt incredibly comfortable in the water, much more than on the grassland. After jumping in, he could sense the flow of the water and gather information, such as the sounds of fish swimming and the vibrations they created.
It was as if he’d become a sensor, able to detect everything within hundreds of meters around him. Yang Bo started swimming toward the lake in the distance.
Yang Bo felt amazing in the water, showcasing the effects of being a swimming grandmaster. He could even breathe underwater.
Suddenly, Yang Bo sensed something ahead. It wasn’t a fish, but it seemed like a person.
To verify his senses, Yang Bo quickly swam toward the figure. The person also seemed to sense Yang Bo’s presence and stopped moving.
At about 50 meters, Yang Bo stopped and observed the mutant ahead. This mutant had scales on its body and was wearing a suit.
The mutant seemed equally surprised to see Yang Bo. Despite the protective energy suit, it was clear Yang Bo wasn’t one of them.
The mutant flashed a menacing grin, holding two energy weapons as he rushed toward Yang Bo.
The next moment, the mutant started twitching in the water, eventually convulsing and lying still. Several fish nearby also floated to the surface, lifeless.
Mecha Repair +4!
Yang Bo was speechless. This guy also provided mecha repair points. Why not give me water-related superpowers instead?
Could it be that his body was truly incompatible with these abilities?
The mutant had two more supply containers from escape pods. Yang Bo didn’t understand why they brought these containers, but they were useless to him.
Yang Bo quickly left. Half an hour later, he arrived at a lake.
“Electric eel.” Not long after entering the lake, Yang Bo sensed one, hiding about 20 meters away near a shoreline.
Yang Bo quickly approached the eel. As he got within a few meters, a strong current struck him.
Yang Bo only felt a bit of a cool sensation, nothing more. He immediately pulled out his energy weapon and killed the eel.
Electric Power Control +2.
“Nice, nice. Keep going.” Yang Bo didn’t care where he was now. As long as he could grind skills, it didn’t matter.
Yang Bo swam swiftly through the lake, killing eels one by one as they approached.
The eels sensed Yang Bo coming, but instead of fleeing, they moved in to attack with electricity. The eels probably thought they were strong, with each one swimming up to its doom.
The lake wasn’t particularly large. After two hours, Yang Bo stopped finding eels. He followed the water flow, continuing forward.
“This lake’s too small.”
“Is there any way to fly up and take a look around?”
“Forget it. It’s not safe up there. Staying below is better. I wonder how Iron Bull is doing. It’d be good to check out his situation. But where the heck am I now?”
