Chapter 105: Are Mutants Also Alliance Citizens?
by xennovelYang Bo was a bit surprised. The female officer was carrying a device with a map all along. If only she had shown it earlier, he wouldn’t have had to run such a long distance! “It’s a bit far.” Yang Bo glanced at the map. The straight-line distance was over 1,000 kilometers, but walking through the wild grass wasn’t an option. Who knows how many mutants were lurking there? Yang Bo decided to follow the mountain range instead. However, taking the mountain path meant traveling a curved route of nearly 4,000 kilometers.
“Better to stick to the border between the mountains and the grassland.” Yang Bo finally chose to take a detour. The grassland would greatly affect visibility, and since the Mecha’s radar wasn’t functioning well, it wouldn’t be ideal if his sight were also obstructed.
If the biological mechas of the mutants spotted him, he wasn’t confident he could win. Of course, he wasn’t too concerned about himself.
Behind him, the female officer was still there. Even if the officer died, Yang Bo wouldn’t care much. After all, he was using someone else’s identity, not his own.
Yang Bo controlled the Energy Suit, moving along the border between the mountains and grassland.
The female officer inside the Mecha’s cockpit was a little taken aback. This soldier didn’t even consult her before taking action. She had an exceptional memory and knew many things he didn’t.
However, since the soldier wasn’t directly under her fleet, the female officer said nothing. She just waited as Yang Bo operated the Mecha, thinking that Yang Bo might have specific reasons for heading to Base 16.
Otherwise, why hadn’t he asked where Base 17 or Base 18 was? It was worth noting that Base 17 was less than 500 kilometers from here, though it was hidden by the mountain range and couldn’t be spotted.
Still, the female officer didn’t speak up. The information she had wasn’t reliable anymore. What were once considered safe zones might now be overrun by mutants.

As Yang Bo maneuvered the Mecha along the mountain-grassland border, he had long been spotted. However, taking down a Mecha wasn’t something an individual mutant could accomplish. Currently, many mutants were attacking an outpost and had already seized control of several areas, reaping numerous benefits.
The Tiger-Faced King had also joined the assault, though he was part of the first wave of attackers.
After leading the initial group in occupying the outer areas of the outpost and looting resources, the Tiger-Faced King returned to his tribe to organize another round of plundering. When he arrived at the Underground Entrance, however, he saw several Fighter Jets and did not dare emerge.
“What are those pirates doing? They fled so quickly!” The Tiger-Faced King cursed as he looked at the Alliance warships flying overhead.
You should know that this time, the mutant tribes had united and hired a Pirate Fleet to attack the planetary fleet, even paying a hefty price to sabotage the planetary orbital defense systems.
The mutants had even signed a cooperation agreement with the pirates: after wiping out the Alliance forces, the mutants and pirates would establish a management organization to take control of the planet. There was even a secret agreement with another nation.
Having only looted once, the Tiger-Faced King was outraged. He had paid more in rare materials than the resources he had gained.
“King, I told you not to trust those pirates. Some idiots believed in them, but I bet the pirates are working with the Alliance to screw us over. Do you think pirates could get warships and Mecha without the backing of the Alliance’s corporations?” One of the Tiger-Faced King’s subordinates shook his head, voicing his skepticism.
The Tiger-Faced King wore a grim expression. His subordinate made sense. Pirates certainly weren’t trustworthy, but the mutants had no other choice but to cooperate with them.
“King, we’re still in pretty good shape. We’re closest to the outpost, so we managed to loot some supplies amidst the chaos. Even though we suffered some losses, tribes farther from the outpost probably had it worse.”
“King, just look at those laser beams hitting our neighbors. Doesn’t that make you feel a little better?”
“King, don’t be mad. This is how it goes when dealing with pirates. It’s just that some of the tribal fools thought the pirates would actually cooperate with us. Well, look at them now. I wonder what those idiots who deeply cooperated with the pirates are thinking as they face the laser onslaught!” The Tiger-Faced King’s subordinates continued to try and console their leader.
The Tiger-Faced King’s eyes lit up as he said, “Send out all the scouting animals.”
“King, are you targeting outpost 16 or outpost 17?” his subordinate in charge of the scouting animals immediately questioned.
“Are you an idiot? The human warships are flying above us right now. Of course, we’ll keep an eye on our neighbors! Let’s see who’s returning with the fewest people. Those dogs talked so boldly when they were making deals with the pirates; I need to get my share of the spoils!” The Tiger-Faced King wasn’t one to suffer losses. Recently, two neighboring tribes had one leader dead and another severely injured. His tribe had been expanding rapidly. Now that these neighbors were likely suffering heavy losses, wasn’t this the perfect time to “pay them a visit?”
“King, you’re brilliant! The outposts are equipped with automatic weapons systems, and there’s no underground entrance near the outposts. Our neighboring tribes must have taken heavy losses!”
“King, why don’t we make a move now? Our neighbors are still attacking the outpost. Look at all those Alliance Fighter Jets over at outpost 15. There’s no way our neighbors can retreat easily. Should we go right now and ransack them?” Another of the Tiger-Faced King’s subordinates boldly suggested.
“Let’s do it!” The Tiger-Faced King, hearing this, found it reasonable. Looking over at outpost 15, where many Alliance Fighter Jets flew and warships fired laser beams, he knew his neighbors were having a tough time. The Tiger-Faced King led his men back to the Underground World and began heading towards his neighbors. Robbing the Alliance wasn’t easy, but looting his neighbors? That was much more doable.

At this moment, inside Yang Bo’s Mecha, Yang Bo finally understood what a mutant was.
“Mutants were once citizens of the Alliance. They were pioneers on this planet. When the planet was first discovered, no one realized that the mutated creatures here were perfect for creating gene injections. Back then, gene injections were made using human genes.”
“These pioneers discovered that after consuming the mutated beasts of this planet, they developed powerful superpowers. News of this quickly spread, attracting various organizations from the Alliance, who sent people to the planet. By the time the Alliance military responded, countless people had already descended here.”
“Because they ate the mutated beasts, most mutants carried the genetic traits of wild animals. However, a few were exceptions. Currently, there are still unknown numbers of mutants living within the Alliance, which is why you see laser cannons everywhere on warships. There was even an incident where mutants hijacked and damaged a warship!” The female officer, sitting behind Yang Bo, explained. She secretly wondered if this soldier might also be a mutant.
“Many families and organizations have intricate ties to the mutants here. Some operate in the gray and black markets, and even major corporations from the Alliance are connected to this planet.”
Hearing this explanation, Yang Bo became even more suspicious. Why was the female officer telling him all this? Had she seen through his Camouflage? Should he kill her? After all, things were chaotic right now.
“Could my boss’s company also have ties to this planet?” Yang Bo suddenly pondered.
