Chapter 107: Tracking the Calamity Star
by xennovelYang Bo watched the Drone Fighter fly away and quickly found an underground entrance to slip into.
“Glad it’s gone.” Yang Bo entered the Underground World entrance and immediately controlled the Mech to sprint through. He needed to destroy the Mech so it wouldn’t be found.
“General, that Mech just entered the Underground World,” General Black Blade, hidden in the tall grass, was shocked when his subordinate reported this.
“Could it be someone from another tribe?” General Black Blade suddenly realized the issue. This person was from the Alliance, but plenty of his own men were also in the Alliance.
“Chase!” The General quickly ordered the pursuit, realizing Yang Bo might possess important information.
“General, the Mech is in the second layer, now heading directly for the third.”
“There’s definitely important intel. Chase them down!” Energized by the thought, General Black Blade grew more convinced of his theory.

While Yang Bo raced in the Underground World, the Drone Fighter carrying the female officer soared into space.
Space was littered with warship debris, some large, some small. A lot was being pulled into the planet’s atmosphere, transforming into dazzling lights. Larger pieces fell onto the planet.
Amidst the void, a smaller warship hovered silently. Seven or eight differently sized warships surrounded it. The fighter landed on one of them.
The female officer looked at the smaller warship and understood the losses exceeded fifty percent. After breaking apart, two pirate warships were struck, but half of the modular units remained intact and reformed into a new ship.
This was wisdom gained from years of human space exploration. If the warship were a single unit,
it would have several disadvantages. One significant flaw was collisions with unknown objects in space. Initially, spaceships were also designed as interconnected bays, but after certain unexpected events,
some links were severed, and the remaining bays couldn’t communicate. So modular designs were introduced. In the event of accidents or wars, only specific modules would be damaged, while the rest could continue to fight.
After boarding, the female officer hurriedly checked the data and sighed in relief. They’ve recovered 90% of the personnel who had ejected, thanks to the deployed drone fleet. These drones not only attacked the pirates’ escape vessels but also retrieved their own fleet’s escape pods! “Captain Wang, it’s good to see you again. We’ve secured the mission’s objective and will return immediately. I’ve notified the Alliance to send warships for reinforcements as fast as possible. Stay safe!” The opposing warship’s captain spoke via video with visible relief.
“Captain Liu, thank you for your concern. It’s been a tough mission,” the female officer nodded and thanked him.
“Our warship also encountered issues. Red Earl’s people infiltrated our ship. We have over 150 missing, including 23 soldiers. Over 120 are March Planet citizens we rescued from pirate raids. Please help search for them, Captain.”
“I’ll leave you with 20,000 drones. Please accept them,” Captain Liu transmitted another link.
“Thank you, and safe travels,” the female officer nodded again.
Shortly after, she saw a swarm of drones fly out from the opposing warship. As the control rights transferred, she would be able to use them once they landed on her warship for recharging. However, given the current situation, there probably wouldn’t be any more pirate attacks.
“Thank you, see you at the end-of-year meeting!” The opposing captain knew they would surely face inquiries at the Parliament over this major incident, and he would be questioned as well. The female officer watched their fleet leave. Their warship seemed intact, with just a few missing parts. Those missing sections belonged to abandoned, damaged modules and served no further purpose.
The female officer opened the personnel list sent by the others and frowned slightly. Yang Bo’s ID wasn’t on it.
“Strange.” The officer found this increasingly odd. Yang Bo had used a military energy suit, and the suit’s energy beam activated. Energy suits can only be used by individuals matched to that precise energy source, even for soldiers.
“Consultant Yang, can a mech repair specialist gain access to mech permissions?” the female officer asked casually.
“Ma’am, that’s impossible. Each Mech has a corresponding key. Mechs use an optic wave neural network, and without the key, no one can gain access. Every Mech’s optic wave neural network key is unique!” Consultant Yang, also female, blinked in confusion before answering.
“Plus, every Mech produced by Mech Company has a quantum coordinate to prevent competitors from dismantling them. But it seems earlier models, up to the eighth generation, don’t have quantum coordinates.”
The female officer nodded. The optic wave neural network uses light signals for communications. But these light signals span multiple frequencies,
and only 1% of the frequencies carry useful information—the key acts as the decoder for this encrypted code. Without it, you can’t tell which frequency carries the signal. It could be one frequency or extracted from dozens. The optic wave neural network is such advanced technology that no one can crack it.
However, there are some individuals with specific types of superpowers who can bypass the optic wave neural key and access the system directly.
The female officer had heard of such people. In fact, many now reside in the highest research lab of the Alliance. They are both researchers and research subjects. Once in, they never leave.
No matter what kind of superpowered person you are, you’re still human. As long as you’re human, you leave traces. The Alliance will find you sooner or later.
The female officer glanced through more personnel information then uploaded the details into the warship’s database, instructing search drones to locate the missing individuals.
But regarding the over 100 civilians, the officer held little hope. Even if some had superpowers, fighting against Mutants would be almost impossible. Even warship soldiers struggle to match the strength of Mutants. These Mutants often battle mutated beasts and tribal armies, giving them ferocious combat abilities.
“Who could that person be?” The thought crossed the female officer’s mind briefly, but she soon focused back on cleaning up the battlefield.

“What on earth is this ‘Forging Skill’?” Yang Bo was baffled. Upon emerging from a tunnel in the Underground World, he encountered a group of Mutants—seven or eight of them. His laser cannon went off instantly, catching them off-guard.
But the ability that showed up left Yang Bo even more confused. What exactly is going on?
