Chapter 111: Someone Stopping Iron Bull
by xennovel“With these troublemakers among the Mutants, they’ll never become powerful!”
“Isn’t this the so-called enemy’s internal sabotage?” Yang Bo watched as the Tiger-Faced King led his men and eradicated the unfortunate Tribe, taking away everyone and every piece of loot. Without a word, the Tiger-Faced King threw the corpse of the unfortunate Tribe Chief at the front, and the rest surrendered.
Of course, Yang Bo took the opportunity to grab some biological samples from the unfortunate ones.
Yang Bo followed the main force for nearly two days before arriving at the Tiger-Faced King’s stronghold. Once there, Yang Bo became familiar with the place and immediately went invisible to check on the materials where he’d hidden the hydrogen bomb, only to find the Tiger-Faced King was helping him hunt electric eels, indirectly leveling him up.
Yang Bo thought that in the future, when he logged into the game, he should come more often to drop some radioactive goodies.
Then Yang Bo followed the familiar path to his usual farming spot in the game, arriving at the outside mountain. Looking at the familiar surroundings, Yang Bo felt a sense of disbelief. In the distance, Base 16 seemed abandoned—the laser cannons atop it were all silent? “What’s going on here?” Unbeknownst to Yang Bo, the Female Officer had received the Alliance’s orders and had pulled her troops together. The first thing they had to do was evacuate all personnel from the outpost to avoid casualties. The outpost’s location was so unique that even if the Mutants took it over, it had no real value. They could only raid it and withdraw, minimizing losses. Once the Alliance had their manpower, equipment, and fighter jets in place, retaking it would be simple.
The Female Officer’s main concern was if there were any remaining Pirates or other hostile forces. The fighter jets continued striking the Mutants. These were all unmanned jets.
“Mutants are this powerful?” Of course, Yang Bo didn’t know they had deliberately withdrawn. He watched as Mutants carried things in and out of the outpost, even fighting amongst themselves.
After watching for less than half an hour, Yang Bo saw the Tiger-Faced King leading over 200 people in mighty force, charging toward Base 16.
“That guy is at it again, bullying the weak.” Yang Bo didn’t need to watch any longer to know the Tiger-Faced King’s behavior. The smaller Mutant squads would likely get robbed.
“If more Mutants like that showed up, it would be a blessing for the Alliance.”
“But I can’t farm electric eels anymore. The area is too chaotic now. What was once a safe zone is now overrun by Mutants.”
“Should I see if Iron Bull still recognizes me?” Since Base 16 was temporarily breached, Yang Bo decided to find a hiding spot.
After thinking for a bit, he decided to go to Iron Bull’s place to see if he’d still recognize him. Back then, Yang Bo called out to Iron Bull on purpose, hoping that no matter what, even if he changed his Mech, Iron Bull would still recognize his voice.
Over an hour later, Yang Bo arrived at Iron Bull’s location. To his surprise, there were hundreds of Mutants, some wearing energy armors and others in biological Mechas.
Strangely enough, these Mutants hadn’t been struck by the fighter jets. Maybe the jets hadn’t detected them, or their mission had changed? Energy waves emanated from within Iron Bull’s lair.
“Is someone bullying Iron Bull?” Yang Bo glanced at the hundreds of Mutants below, then at the distant roaring fighter jets, and a strategy popped into his head.
Yang Bo first entered a cave, summoning his Mech and altering its appearance, giving it the look of a ninth-generation machine. The laser cannon was fake, merely for show.
Now the Mech looked ridiculous, a ninth-generation machine with a laser cannon and wielding two energy weapons in its hands. Yang Bo had shortened the original five-meter-long energy weapons into two smaller blades. Though they were shorter, long weapons were useless in the Underground World anyway.
Yang Bo rocketed out of the cave with his jetpack-equipped Mech, instantly soaring into the sky. Sure enough, this drew the attention of the Alliance’s unmanned fighter jets. As they roared toward him, Yang Bo was overjoyed. Then, his Mech descended straight into the horde of hundreds of Mutants below.
The Mutants heard the sonic boom behind them from when Yang Bo’s Mech blasted off. When they turned, they saw an Alliance Mech. The sight left them dumbfounded.
In the next second, shouts of joy broke out among over a hundred Mutants. Their Energy Suit gleamed as they charged toward Yang Bo’s Mech.
Yang Bo quickly turned and ran, racing uphill. The Mutants behind him grew more frenzied, launching into the air as they aimed to cut off Yang Bo’s retreat. But just as they leapt, they were caught by a laser strike, igniting into fiery explosions.
The unlucky Mutants who flew up were detected by drones and swiftly struck by laser beams. In the next moment, the entire valley was lit up with intense laser fire.
Four or five unmanned fighter jets roared in, unleashing dense laser blasts on the Mutants. At this point, the distance between the jets and the Mutants was less than a thousand meters.
After the salvo, the few hundred Mutants were reduced to nothing but radiant light.
By now, Yang Bo had already rushed into another cave, stowed his Mech, and gone invisible. Standing at the cave entrance, he watched the Mutants be completely wiped out.
Yang Bo no longer felt any emotions toward Mutants. These guys just had strange and weird abilities.
At the entrance of Iron Bull’s cave, two Mutants in biological Mechas stood in shock as they saw their companions explode under the sudden barrage of laser fire. They let out heart-wrenching screams.
Yang Bo, now invisible, swiftly approached Iron Bull’s position.
Just as he reached the cave entrance, a violent energy collision sounded from within. Yang Bo dared not get too close because the shockwave from the energy collision might disrupt his invisibility.
In short, invisibility was still a form of energy, and energy shockwaves could interfere with it.
The two biological Mechas at the door stood over six meters tall. The outer layer of the biological Mechas looked like an animal’s horned shell, flickering with a metallic sheen.
Yang Bo, still invisible, positioned himself behind the two. Then, he suddenly summoned his Mech.
Before the two Mutants could react, Yang Bo’s Mech moved in, pushing them both out of the cave.
What followed was a blinding series of laser blasts. The two Mutants in biological Mechas lasted less than a second before exploding, hit by over a hundred lasers in that one second.
Mecha Piloting +16!
Mecha Piloting +16!
“The guards were all Class-B experts. Does that mean the one targeting Iron Bull is a Class-A expert?” Yang Bo looked at the added skills, satisfied. Getting Mecha Piloting wasn’t bad at all. Why would they give Mecha Repair as well? Yang Bo then invisibly slipped deeper into the cave.
