Chapter Index

On the second day, Yang Bo made breakfast for himself at home. As he left, he casually threw out the trash at the downstairs recycling area. There’s no need for sorting trash here — how convenient!

Exiting the community gate, Yang Bo was ready to head toward the company. He needed to take public transportation. In the past, Yang Bo didn’t need to pay, but now, he had to.

Fares varied depending on the time and distance. There weren’t many people waiting at the bus stop. More than 90% of the community’s residents didn’t have to work. Most of the citizens had their own anti-gravity vehicles.

Yang Bo was looking forward to the task for today. He arrived at the bus stop and saw the next bus would arrive in five minutes. He found a place to sit down.

As soon as he sat down, a young man also entered the waiting area. The young man’s attire was plain and ordinary.

However, Yang Bo sensed something was off. This person first glanced at him upon entering, whereas others checked for a seat first.

“Am I being followed again?” Yang Bo recalled that feeling he had two days ago in the afternoon and slightly frowned.

The young man entered the waiting room, immediately spotting the target: a 19-year-old resident. The mission seemed way too easy.

However, he couldn’t act here. This was a public area. If he made a move, within twenty seconds, the drone police would show up.

The young man found a seat and, using his peripheral vision, kept his eyes on his target. The target looked like an ordinary resident, judging by his clothes. The young man wondered who would need this resident’s blood sample.

The young man touched the ring on his finger. In a few minutes, when the bus comes, he planned to extract the blood sample during the boarding or disembarking. This mission was like handing him money — too simple.

Yang Bo saw a bus pulling into the station. He instantly stood up and boarded it, even though this wasn’t the bus heading to the company.

The young man was stunned by Yang Bo’s sudden move. According to the intel, the target wasn’t supposed to take this bus.

The young man hurriedly stood up, but it was too late; the bus had already departed.

“Damn it.” The young man cursed under his breath and quickly rushed to the nearby taxi stand.

After boarding the bus, Yang Bo went to the back and noticed the young man hurriedly heading toward the taxi stand. Yang Bo frowned.

“So, it really is me they’re after.” At this point, Yang Bo was sure.

Yang Bo thought for a while, then carefully checked the bus route before getting off at the next stop.

After waiting a few minutes, a bus heading to the company finally arrived. Yang Bo felt a bit uneasy. Who was following him? Was it the company?

    That didn’t seem right, though.

“What should I do now?” Yang Bo felt a bit panicked.

When Yang Bo arrived at the company, he was hesitating whether to report someone was following him.

“Yang Bo, here’s the agenda. Although your level is currently very low, there will be some hazardous situations coming up. You’ll undergo a series of job trainings for that.” Liu Zhijie handed a paper to Yang Bo.

Yang Bo felt a bit suspicious. Training? Shouldn’t training happen before the official job starts? Actually, this was special treatment from Liu Zhijie. Since Yang Bo might undergo gene evolution, Liu Zhijie was giving him an opportunity. Most people would have to work for some time before they received any job training.

“Boss, where will the training take place?” Yang Bo inspected the document, which primarily focused on identifying dangerous creatures or items and how to handle them properly.

“Virtual training. We have virtual headsets. You have one month to complete the training. Since you don’t have the assistance of a biological chip, you’ll need to achieve at least a sixty-point evaluation during the assessment.”

“Given the sort of clients we deal with, no one can guess what bizarre things they might have in their homes.” Liu Zhijie said.

The wealthy can do anything for a thrill.

    “Boss, I’ll do my best.”

“You can take the virtual headset home. You’ll need to train four hours a day, and we’ll pay your wages for this month.” Liu Zhijie added.

    “Understood.”

Yang Bo packed up the headset and left the company. He took a taxi back to his private community. Being followed wasn’t a concern there.

Yang Bo made himself a cup of tea, sat on the couch, and opened the box. Inside was an old virtual headset, resembling a motorcycle helmet, with a large visor and silver gloves connected by wires to the headset.

The virtual headset had already been activated. Yang Bo examined the brand — yet another product of the Peaceful Corporation.

After putting it on, Yang Bo’s view resembled what he’d see while riding a bike. There was only one app installed, named ‘Class E Safety Training’. Opening it, Yang Bo saw several options: the first was dangerous plants; the second was dangerous animals; the third was how to dispose of dangerous plants; the fourth was how to handle dangerous animals; the fifth was how to save oneself; and the sixth was the simulation test.

“Not bad.” Yang Bo moved his hands and chose the first option. Inside, there was a variety of poisonous plants, from those lethal upon contact to those that exploded. There were also paralyzingly poisonous spiked plants and mushrooms that released toxic spores.

Yang Bo didn’t feel particularly worried. Whenever they worked on these tasks, they wore protective suits, which were tailored for various environments based on pre-task evaluations.

For lunch, Yang Bo made himself a simple noodle dish, and then resumed his studies. After all, Yang Bo did not want to die on the job due to mistakes or unreliable intel.

Private territories didn’t guarantee quick medical assistance. The company, not official agencies, was responsible for their service workers’ safety. Once official agencies got involved, it would expose whatever illegal plants or animals the clients were hiding…

Over the next ten days, Yang Bo stayed home, memorizing the knowledge as best as he could, since this was crucial to his future survival.

Meanwhile, the person tracking Yang Bo was growing frustrated. Originally, they thought it would be child’s play to collect a blood sample from an ordinary person, perhaps while he was boarding or walking, but Yang Bo went home and hadn’t come out since.

“Damn it! I’m going to kill that bastard!” The young man cursed inwardly.

Yang Bo, now preparing for the simulation test, took a deep breath and opened the test. The scene was a garden. The goal was to identify and clean up the dangerous elements present.

Yang Bo found several plants, put on protective gear, and carefully placed them in specialized trash bags, as different plants required different bags. Poisonous plants needed specialized trash bags.

In the garden’s fish pond, there were some goldfish. Yang Bo knew it wouldn’t be that simple. Sure enough, beneath a rock formation, he spotted a dark shape.

“An electric eel.” Seeing it, Yang Bo grabbed a shovel and struck the rock formation hard.

    Swimming +1!

    Swimming +1!

    Swimming +1!

As the goldfish in the pond flipped over, Yang Bo stared in disbelief. Waves of information flooded into his mind.

“Whoa, is this real?” Yang Bo was stunned, but soon his eyes gleamed as he stared at the electric eel discharging in the pond.
