Chapter Index

“What should we do about this?”

“Yes, your Grey Ash Organization gave us the wrong information.” One-Eye and the Bald Man looked at the man and asked.

“I’m just the head of this branch. I’m also waiting for news from headquarters. For now, settle down here. It’ll take at least three months before we can get you out.” The man in front frowned deeply. This failure in intelligence had caused great damage to their organization, though it was unclear why the intel was wrong.

“Three months isn’t impossible, but what about our losses? Both of our main warships were destroyed.” The Bald Man and One-Eye were more focused on their own power. As for the faulty intel, they could discuss that later.

“Regarding the warships, we can even provide some services to get you replacement warships for free,” the head of the Ashes Intelligence Organization offered.

“That’s just getting warships from other nations to plunder the Alliance’s routes. We’re not interested in that,” the Bald Man said.

“Exactly! We pirates value our freedom. If we were going to work for other nations, why bother being pirates?” One-Eye nodded in agreement.

“There’s no rush with the warships. This situation is quite significant, and I know nothing. Once headquarters responds, we’ll understand what happened. You can trust that our Grey Ash Organization, which has been around for years, will take responsibility for what we should.”

“We can even introduce you to the leader of the Mutant Tribe. You know how many good things the leader has—rare energy metals, mutated rare energy stones, rare mutated beasts. Once you send those things to other countries, what can’t you get in return?” the branch Supervisor of the Grey Ash Organization continued.

The Bald Man and One-Eye exchanged glances and nodded. Green Demon Planet produced many rare items, but the planet had long been carved up by various powers. Despite the Alliance’s surface control, all these major forces had their own branches on the planet.

When Green Demon Planet’s oddities were first discovered, the pioneers’ priority was securing their interests. They sold the information on the black market before notifying the Military.

Turns out, the organizations on the black market reacted even faster than the Military.

On this planet, a mutual understanding had formed between hidden organizations and the Alliance. They maintained certain lines, aware that these groups wielded considerable influence within the Alliance.

The Grey Ash Organization was one of the Alliance’s top three gray organizations, particularly in intelligence and rare materials. There wasn’t anything this group couldn’t offer—it all depended on the price you were willing to pay. “Meeting the Mutant leader would be great,” the Bald Man and One-Eye agreed as they exchanged glances. If the Grey Ash Organization was willing to introduce them to the Mutant leader, that would certainly be valuable.

“Just rest easy here. Headquarters will get to the bottom of this, and we won’t let our reputation be ruined.” The Ashes leader felt something was very off about this situation. The main fleet’s movements within the Alliance had not raised a single whisper. The logistics involved in shifting a fleet of that size were immense.

There was something else to worry about too—the involvement of the Mutants. With things getting so complicated, it was uncertain what kind of chaos could erupt from the Mutants. The Grey Ash Organization was facing a massive crisis.

    ——————————

Yang Bo wandered through the Underground World looking for easy targets. After walking alongside the underground river for over an hour, he finally found signs of recent human activity.

After stowing his mecha, Yang Bo activated invisibility and quietly followed the man-made path. Not long into it, he noticed two Mutant guards standing by a cave entrance.

“A sentry post?” Yang Bo observed. These two Mutants didn’t seem to bear any beast traits. They wore energy suits and carried energy weapons. This wasn’t looking like an ordinary mission.

When he had visited the Tiger-Faced King’s Tribe, Yang Bo learned that those equipped with energy weapons and energy suits were the tribe’s elites. Most other members wore an eclectic mix of clothing—some plundered from the Human Alliance, others in beast hides.

In fact, about 60% of a tribe’s members wore ordinary clothes or garments of beast hides. Only 40% were fitted with energy weapons and energy suits, and of that group, half guarded wearing biological mecha.

“These sentries don’t look familiar at all,” Yang Bo thought, noting how different their uniforms were from those in the Tiger-Faced King Tribe. Each tribe used different colored markings on their clothes and suits to signify affiliation.

Yang Bo, still invisible, slipped past the two Mutant sentries and continued down a passage that was surprisingly spacious. It was about seven or eight meters high and five to six meters wide.

After walking another 200 meters along this straight path, Yang Bo encountered two more Mutants, this time wearing biological mecha.

“This is strange.” Yang Bo grew more curious. Why were biological mecha used to guard this passage? Could this be a storage area for a tribe? In the Underground World, biological mecha were expensive. For them to use this level of heavy equipment to guard the entrance? There had to be something important hidden here. Yang Bo couldn’t help but feel excited.

“What’s that?” At that moment, Yang Bo—sneaking past the biological mecha guards—spotted a wide underground space about 100 meters ahead of him. The sight shocked him.

The cave was still just a cave, but inside were rows of modern training pods.

The pods were filled with various colored liquids, and silver-white tubes connected to each one.

It looked like a massive workshop. People in protective suits walked around, busy at work.

“These people don’t look like Mutants,” Yang Bo noted, finding that their faces lacked any beast traits.

But then he remembered what the Female Officer had said. Some Mutants had no obvious beast features. Could these be such special Mutants?

Yang Bo took a few steps forward and realized what these training pods were for. Inside each one, there were components—biological mecha parts!

These parts gave off a strange vibe, floating inside the pods and releasing tendrils, which swayed around playfully.

“I wonder if the Mutants custom-build their biological mecha here?” Yang Bo thought, his scalp tingling at the sight of the countless pods. This wasn’t your average Mutant tribe.

Yang Bo kept moving, counting at least a thousand pods. There were over a hundred workers in the facility.

“This must be a secret factory belonging to a large organization!” After observing everything, Yang Bo made his conclusion.
