Chapter Index

PS: Still doing four updates. My body can’t handle much.

This base is huge. Besides over a thousand cultivation chambers, there are also accommodations, activity rooms, and dining areas, but guards are posted everywhere.

“Were these people kidnapped?” A sudden thought scared Yang Bo.

Moreover, there aren’t any surveillance systems around. Yang Bo wasn’t sure if it was due to the planet’s influence or to avoid leaving evidence.

There were also very few intelligent systems. Even the doors had old-fashioned handles, though guards stood at each entrance. These guards didn’t look like Mutants—at least, you couldn’t tell from appearance.

Yang Bo decided not to meddle. After all, for this organization to pull off something this big, it definitely wasn’t simple. Maybe the Alliance, Military, or even the Officials had given silent approval.

This planet isn’t under the Alliance’s jurisdiction, so bending the rules here is probably expected.

But when Yang Bo accidentally noticed a mark on someone’s protective suit, he decided to intervene.

“Better not be what I’m thinking.” The mark was from the Gene Serum Company that tried to set up Yang Bo before.

Yang Bo remembered the Gene Serum Company didn’t seem to be involved in protective suit manufacturing.

Of course, it could be second-hand or purchased from somewhere else, but that seemed unlikely. Protective suits are usually destroyed after a single use; no one dares reuse them.

“Still, the information I found online might not be accurate. Given my identity, it’s likely doctored.” Yang Bo muttered to himself.

Yang Bo was growing more disappointed with the Alliance. He felt the families and corporations were hiding all sorts of dirty dealings.

But then again, wherever humans form societies, there’s bound to be a dark side.

“This nutrient formula isn’t working. The cultivation process is too slow, and the results are poor. Energy efficiency is way too low.” While the researchers were in a meeting, Yang Bo slipped into the room and eavesdropped.

“These Mutants are getting smarter and bringing less rare materials.”

“Can’t be helped. We’re not the only ones making biological mecha; a few other companies are too, and they’re lowering prices.”

“Looks like we’ll need to stir up some conflict among the Mutants. That’ll push them to choose our equipment.”

“Communication’s been cut off. We can’t contact the main headquarters, and we don’t even know what’s going on. Ever since coming here, we’ve lost all communication.”

“Alright, let’s stop talking about unrelated stuff. Focus on improving the nutrient formula. We must increase the energy efficiency of each individual…”

Then came a string of technical terms Yang Bo couldn’t understand. Just as he was losing hope, someone spoke up.

“Based on the latest experiments, the next step is to acquire mutated beast bones and use them to forge energy weapons for the Mutants.” A middle-aged man spoke.

“Doesn’t the main company need to approve this project? We don’t have the authority here.”

“We can produce test samples and give them to the Mutant tribes. Most of the Mutants’ energy weapons are pretty lousy anyway.”

“We can then break into the Mutants’ energy weapon market. Once we’ve seized it, the Mutants will stop forging energy weapons and hand over their energy metals to get bone-made weapons instead.”

“This will help us gauge the real strength of the Mutant tribes, and we can sell that intelligence to other organizations.”

Yang Bo understood the gist. The company had developed a new technology that could reshape mutated beast bones into weapons similar to energy weapons.

The Mutants knew how to forge energy weapons themselves. Yang Bo had already learned that after killing a few Mutants and obtaining their forging skills.

“Capitalists are really ruthless.” Yang Bo could only comment. Honestly, if things continued as planned, the Mutants’ entire energy weapon market would be taken over by these bone-made weapons.

What interested Yang Bo the most was that he still had a large bone in his mech’s storage space. He wondered if these people could shape it for him.

With this idea in mind, Yang Bo turned invisible and left. He went far from the base, took out a biological sample—Black Blade’s sample, to be precise.

Yang Bo transformed into Black Blade, including the armor and other features, then he hoisted the massive bone hammer and headed back.

If they wanted to do business, fine. If not, he’d smash up their place and force them to do business with him.

“Who’s there?” Two Mutant sentinels shouted loudly as Yang Bo neared the passage.

“It’s me!” Yang Bo hollered back, showing himself.

Yang Bo felt unsure. What if these people didn’t recognize him?

“Ah, it’s the General.” One of the sentinels recognized Yang Bo, his expression suddenly one of understanding.

Yang Bo sighed with relief. It looked like the guy he was impersonating had been here before.

“Where’s your leader? Tell him to come out. I’ve got something interesting to show him.” Yang Bo shouted from outside the passage, figuring they wouldn’t let a Mutant leader inside the base.

One of the sentinels replied immediately, “General, wait here. We’ll notify him right away.”

The two sentinels barely moved before a man in Energy Suit emerged. His face was obscured, but he laughed at the sight of Yang Bo. “General, what brings you here today?”

“This thing looks pretty bad. Can you fix it for me?” Yang Bo casually waved his bone hammer and asked.

The middle-aged man looked at the bone hammer, surprised. Wasn’t this the Mutant leader’s weapon? How did Yang Bo end up with it?

“How does the General want it changed?” The middle-aged man inquired, clearly curious.

“Just change its appearance enough so it’s unrecognizable. If you can alter the color, that’s even better.”

“That’s no problem at all. There’s nothing we can’t do.” The middle-aged man understood. This was about hiding something. He couldn’t help but wonder, though—how could Black Blade even wield such a weapon?

“How long will it take? I’ll come back to pick it up.” Yang Bo tossed the bone hammer over and asked.

As for the secrecy of the bone hammer? That was ridiculous. Yang Bo planned to sneak in later under invisibility. If these people tried to tamper with the data on the bone hammer, he’d just kill them.
