Chapter Index

“Forget about all this talk of missions. First, handle our situation properly. If you don’t, we won’t be dealing with each other anymore.” Another leader of the Mutants spoke up.

The losses the Mutants suffered were simply too great. When the Alliance’s fighter jets roared down, the biological mechs of the Mutant tribe were almost entirely wiped out. On the other hand, those in energy suits were fine, because the Alliance jets prioritized biological mechs as targets.

Each tribal warrior with a Biological Mecha is the elite of the Mutants. Many of the leaders now just wanted to grab their energy weapons and hack down members of the Grey Ash Organization.

However, due to the Grey Ash Organization’s long-standing reputation and demonstrated strength, the Mutant leaders managed to stay calm.

“Let’s talk compensation first. If we don’t get compensation, we won’t continue trading. Our tribe will also refuse to cooperate with any of your organizations or individuals. We’ll kill anyone who steps onto our land.”

“Exactly. From now on, don’t expect the others to come asking us for anything.”

“Our losses were huge this time. Just among the people I know, over a thousand tribal warriors died! Imagine the losses across all the tribal leaders here. And don’t forget we gave you highly valuable goods like energy metals and attribute energy stones, hard currency in this world.”

Seeing the situation escalate, the two pirate leaders spoke up: “How about this, your Grey Ash Organization can write up a contract first, and compensate us according to our losses. Then we can continue talking. Your organization is big, but we run small businesses. We can’t afford such losses.”

The two pirate leaders felt quite pleased. If it weren’t for the Grey Ash Organization’s contract, they’d have already privately asked the Mutant leaders what kind of valuable goods they had received.

Because of the contract, they couldn’t openly ask either—those were rules that had to be followed.

Yang Bo had waited outside for half a day before finally seeing Old Third Wang and the others come out. He was curious: how’d the meeting go? “Brother, is this person from your side? The Grey Ash Organization has placed a high bounty on him, offering 100 biological mechs!” In the underground world, Old Third Huang handed a photo to Yang Bo.

Yang Bo glanced at the picture and shook his head. “Not from our organization.”

In fact, Yang Bo recognized the guy instantly. Wasn’t this the same person he set on fire with the grass? Not to mention, he got hit by a laser cannon. This guy was also the one who gave him the Invisibility ability.

“Could he be a fellow operative?” Yang Bo’s mind was in a mess. If this guy was worth a hundred biological mechs to the Grey Ash Organization, then he must be someone important. Could he be an agent from another place here to stir up trouble?

“We didn’t resolve anything this time. It was just a lot of squabbling for most of the day. But the Grey Ash Organization promised to get to the bottom of things soon, and then compensate us. The two pirates suffered heavy losses too—over ten thousand of their people are said to have died.” Old Third Huang didn’t care whether what Yang Bo said was true or not; he just showed him the picture as a courtesy.

Yang Bo pulled out his energy weapon, drew on the ground, and started explaining: “We’ve already figured out half of the internal layout of the Grey Ash Organization. There’s an entrance passage right…”

Old Third Huang knew some things about the structure inside, but the specifics—like how many people lived there and where they all came from—he had no idea. It was always changing.

“How do we deal with the laser cannons?” Old Third Huang’s top concern now was the laser cannons.

“Dealing with the laser cannons is actually pretty simple. What we need to focus on now is finding their escape route. First, we need to cut off that route and capture their people.”

“Also, to pressure the Alliance, we must make an example of a group. We should take the items from the Grey Ash Organization, divide them among ourselves, and then kill everyone. If any of these people get back home alive, they’ll bring back important intelligence.”

“Moreover, we need to target some influential figures from big companies or institutions and kill them too. Unless the Alliance wants us to wipe them all out, we can just go back to our old ways, living life how we always did.” Yang Bo shook his head.

“Escape route?” Old Third Huang nodded. Definitely, they had to kill some of the Ashes people—those dogs always ate from both ends.

“Could you help me scout out nearby locations? We need somewhere big enough for fighter jets or small warships—like a valley, an exit, or a river.” Yang Bo wasn’t too familiar with the local terrain. Finding it by himself would take who knows how long.

“There are still over thirty of us from the group that originally came. Quite a few are tribal leaders. I’ve found a few like-minded guys. I’ll go back and ask them. I’ll give you a response tomorrow.” Old Third Huang admired Yang Bo’s thinking. While they’d been focused on the laser cannons, Yang Bo was already planning to cut off their enemies’ retreats.

Yang Bo nodded, watching Old Third Huang leave. His mind was still on the man the Grey Ash Organization had placed a bounty on.

“Looks like this guy really has a rich background. He’s hiding beside the Alliance’s Outpost, so maybe he’s from another nation, sent to gather intel on the Alliance.” Yang Bo realized that there were others with the Invisibility ability besides himself. What worried him wasn’t a rival, but the possibility of someone developing tech to counteract invisibility.

“What’s there to be afraid of? Rivals are just here to give me more experience.”

However, Yang Bo wasn’t too concerned. Even if someone discovered his invisibility, so what? He still had his energy suit and mecha.

In the future, once he’d done a few more space jumps, he planned to upgrade his mecha and energy weaponry.

If they found him, he’d just summon his mecha and start a slaughter.

If he couldn’t win, running away was always an option—he had plenty of different identities.

Yang Bo’s guess was nearly spot-on. The man the Grey Ash Organization had placed a bounty on was one of their senior supervisors.

This supervisor had the ability to turn invisible and was hiding near Outpost 16, gathering data—especially on the signals exchanged between mecha players and their mechs. It involved crucial space quantum communication technologies.

The Grey Ash Organization was full of talent, with people possessing all kinds of superpowers. Invisibility was rare, which is why he, as a B-rank fighter, had risen to the level of a senior supervisor.

The supervisor worked alone. On this planet, nobody outranked him, so he didn’t need to report to anyone.

He disguised himself as a Mutant and infiltrated the area near Base 16 to collect the information he needed. But who could’ve guessed he’d meet some weirdo who cut the grass and casually set it on fire…

Since the supervisor always worked solo, the Grey Ash Organization leader had no idea of his whereabouts. With such a major incident happening and the supervisor still missing, the leader felt an ominous sense of foreboding. The leader didn’t even know exactly what abilities the supervisor had or what his goals were.

“If only this supervisor would come back!” The leader of the Grey Ash Organization had a terrible headache. He couldn’t even get in touch with headquarters. With his limited authority, who was responsible for this mess?
