Chapter Index

PS: This chapter is 3000 words. Apologies for the delay.

Among the three-person negotiation group, the woman was there to say nice things, the middle-aged man played the strict one, and the young man, not much older than Yang Bo, would speak to him as an equal if things turned sour.

Yang Bo didn’t want to waste time. He wanted to go back and verify the ideas in his mind as soon as possible. Of course, to avoid breaking laws, he’d use what he invented himself and look for some people he could train. If there weren’t any, he’d just work alone.

“Uh, Mr. Yang, there’s no need to be like this. Frankly, among the three nations, our Alliance is the best, especially for the lower classes. The Azure Blue Empire has slavery, and the Crimson Federation follows a grand lord model where each Capital Star has its own laws.” The woman spoke up. She had a sweet appearance and her voice was pleasant, a little reminiscent of Li Aidu. She even handed Yang Bo a carton of milk.

Seeing this, Yang Bo knew his guess was right. This woman was playing the nice role. But Yang Bo was actually a bit intrigued by this whole slave-owner thing. He wondered if the legendary slave-owners truly held all… ahem.

Of course, Yang Bo also knew it wouldn’t be that easy. In most feudal societies, bloodline was everything. Who was he, an outsider, to think he could join them as a slave-owner? Dream on.

“I hate your voice. It’s too much like Li Aidu’s. If it hadn’t been for her concert on our planet, none of this would’ve happened. She’s a disaster star.” Yang Bo refused with annoyance.

The three felt their heads throb. They had all the information on him, but this sudden shift… Considering what he was going through, physically and mentally, they figured his reactions were understandable.

“We’ll need to report this.” The three exchanged glances before speaking.

    “Alright.”

Yang Bo and the other residents lived together, either aboard the warship, which hadn’t left, or staying put.

They had no access to outside information, and Yang Bo wasn’t sure how long it would take to return to the Capital Star.

The Special Affairs Team of March Planet dealt with these people and found that Yang Bo’s demands were actually the most reasonable. The others had even more outrageous conditions.

What made the situation tricky was that the people involved were the lowest-tier citizens. That class had been cultivated to be seen as a protected class in the Alliance. Any sign of mistreatment or discrimination would be problematic.

The Alliance was a bit like Ame. The higher-ups initially fooled the lower class citizens, but then the rest of the populace started believing it too.

It was like Ame’s notions of equality and freedom, initially aimed at stirring up the colored elites. Who would’ve thought they’d end up fooling a huge number of their own white citizens in the process?

Now, whenever something happened, a bunch of naive white folks would run out waving banners. The elite class was speechless.

“Mr. Yang, regarding your proposal last time, we, in principle, agree. However, there’s one condition: the compensation money can only be spent on March Planet, as it’s a newly established Capital Star, and its finances aren’t looking good.” The negotiating trio came to see Yang Bo again.

    “Make it 2 billion, then.”

“Before you say anything, take a look at the coupons. They all have high denominations, don’t they?” Yang Bo immediately aimed high.

“Mr. Yang, how about this: are you planning to buy land?” The young man in the group spoke up again.

Yang Bo nodded. Of course he wanted to buy land. Once he owned it, he could start working on his own things properly.

“Here are some maps and plots of land up for sale. We can give you a significant discount.” The young man handed Yang Bo a tablet.

Because they were on a warship, it wasn’t possible to bring in random devices.

Yang Bo felt tempted and began looking over the options. March Planet was similar to Earth, with 49% of its surface covered by oceans, 15% desert, 10% polar ice regions, and the rest was land.

It seemed like the whole planet was made up of two continents. One resembled the Americas on Earth, while the other looked like Africa. On the map, the Americas-like continent was called the Western Region, and the Africa-like continent was the Eastern Region.

The Western Region’s upper half was called the Northern Continent, and the lower half was the Southern Continent.

March Planet had only three cities, one on the Northern Continent, one in the Southern Continent, and another in the Eastern Region.

“I can’t make a choice right now. I still work at the company.” Yang Bo was tempted. There were so many places, land with mountains, lakes, you name it.

“You have nothing to worry about, Mr. Yang. Small civilian aircraft are allowed on March Planet.” The trio reassured him when they heard his concern.

Yang Bo understood now. The population here was too small. If civilian aircraft weren’t allowed, everyone would end up crowding a single location.

“I’m just a resident.” Yang Bo responded calmly.

“Your An Zhijie Corporation is registered in Alma City in the Eastern Region.” The young man quickly replied.

“Alma City?” Yang Bo opened up the map of Alma City. It was a vast plain, roughly 300,000 kilometers wide. Beyond it stood a massive mountain range. On the other side of the mountains was a giant freshwater lake, and several rivers flowed through the plain, all originating from the mountains.

“Here?” Yang Bo picked a spot near the coast. With his Swimming Grandmaster skill, wouldn’t it be the perfect spot?

“Mr. Yang, there are many strange and dangerous creatures in the ocean here.” The woman kindly warned him.

“I’ll buy insurance. I’m also planning to turn my property into an apocalypse shelter. Even if I’m locked inside for ten years, I’ll be able to live comfortably.” Yang Bo gritted his teeth as he spoke.

“Alright then, we’ll report your request as soon as possible.” The trio didn’t quite understand Yang Bo’s mindset.

As soon as the trio returned to their accommodation, they immediately sent the negotiation details back to headquarters on March Planet.

The headquarters soon had a psychological expert evaluate Yang Bo’s behavior: “It’s completely normal for him to react like this. Considering how long he survived in that cave on Green Demon Planet, it’s natural he feels unsafe in his surroundings.”

“He might even have grown fond of life in the cave. It’s a form of reliance born from insecurity, nothing to worry about.”

“In fact, this could work in our favor. The coastal regions have long been shrouded in danger. If Yang Bo builds an apocalypse shelter, it could provide a defensive advantage. And apocalypse shelters do cost a lot of money.” The expert at headquarters added.

So, the trio went to see Yang Bo again: “Mr. Yang, we agree to your terms. Which plot of land would you like to choose?”

“This one.” Yang Bo chose a plot bordered by both the mountain range and the ocean.

A river naturally marked its boundary. The plot was roughly 20,000 square kilometers, which included part of the mountain range. It only cost 10 million credits.

The plains-only plots were smaller and far more expensive.

“Alright, but we must inform you that there are dangerous creatures in the mountains too.” The trio was speechless. Why did he choose such a dangerous spot with both the sea and the mountains? The land was cheap for a reason.

“I’ll install the most advanced defensive systems.” Yang Bo immediately said.

The trio had nothing more to say. They thought to themselves, “Does he really think defensive systems come cheap? Aside from the price of the system itself, there’s also the cost of laser gun parts, energy, and so on.”

“Mr. Yang, just pay one million credits as a deposit. You will also be lifetime-exempt from taxes, though this only applies to you personally. For fairness, let’s agree on a preliminary contract and sign the official one in front of a lawyer when you return to March Planet. How about it?” The trio figured Yang Bo wouldn’t last long before going broke.

Yang Bo sneered inwardly. Dangerous? Hopefully, these so-called dangerous creatures would give him some rare abilities. Otherwise, who was going to be in danger? And if they tasted good… hmph.

They signed a confidentiality agreement and a preliminary agreement regarding the compensation. But the credits wouldn’t be transferred until the formal contract was signed.

“Damn, something felt off.” Yang Bo smacked his thigh after receiving the detailed documents of the land he bought.

A large portion of March Planet’s animals were completely unfamiliar to Yang Bo. Though mushroom-shaped, many were dangerous carnivorous worms, similar to leeches that could release anesthesia gas, causing their prey to hallucinate.

Green Demon Planet’s animals mostly consisted of creatures Yang Bo recognized from his past life, like rhinos, tigers, snakes, and rats.

March Planet, however, had dinosaur-sized creatures, some on land and others in the water. There was a type of five-pointed star-shaped fish in the sea with toxic spines that could be launched, hitting a target 200 meters away.

There was also a fist-sized blood-sucking moth and rats covered in scales.

Some plants were dangerous too, like exploding fruit and trees that sprayed poison when you walked underneath them. The trees’ leaves would rain down toxic liquid, killing and decaying whatever passed below.

“Goodness.” Not only wasn’t Yang Bo afraid, but he was excited. His first thought: How do these things taste? On Earth, more poisonous animals were often more delicious. Second thought: What kind of abilities could they give him?

Meanwhile, far away in Alma City, Liu Zhijie, the Fat Boss, finally received word from Yang Bo and breathed a sigh of relief: “This kid is lucky. He survived an interstellar war without harm. I wonder if he awakened any superpowers on Green Demon Planet?”

“Tsk tsk, the Grey Ash Organization is finished in the Alliance. Our An Zhijie Corporation is now the largest organization.” The Fat Boss was pleased. The Grey Ash Organization was once the top grey force, no contest. This time, the Alliance’s swift action reportedly resulted in over ten thousand deaths, with officials arrested numbering in the tens of thousands, and even more people involved.

“This planet is even better. The more dangerous creatures, the more work for us. Our company’s business is already overwhelming.” Liu Zhijie was glad he had come to March Planet. The high number of dangerous creatures here meant people constantly sought help from professionals. An Zhijie Corporation’s business was so busy they struggled to keep up.

Yang Bo also wondered: “Should I reveal one of my superpowers to the Fat Boss? An Zhijie Corporation is a grey force with many areas I could make use of.”
