Chapter 154: Apply for Laser Gun
by xennovelPS: The fourth update will be at noon as usual.
“Mr. Yang, animals are troublesome…” Marlin reminded him.
Yang Bo finally came to his senses and nodded. “Can we set up a lawn?”
“That’s no problem. It’s very simple. We’ll provide three years of free trimming. Each time, the trimming will be done by intelligent robots. You just need to make an appointment in advance, and it takes about two hours per session.”
“Alright, thank you.” Yang Bo had been careless. In this world, it’s best not to raise animals since there are too many managing agencies.
“So how about we sign a cooperation agreement first? We’ll finalize the official contract after the specific budget is available.”
Yang Bo and the Fat Boss saw off Marlin. The Fat Boss sighed, “Yang Bo, you’ve milked the government of March Planet so much, they must have a headache now.”
“Hehe.” Yang Bo knew the government would cover 30% of the cost. His own budget was 160 million, and with the government’s subsidy, it would be much more.
Then Liu Zhijie chimed in. “If you’re short on money, I can loan you some with no interest.”
“Thank you, Boss, thank you!”
“Did you hear about what happened on Pado Planet?”
“Yes, we were lucky.”
“I wouldn’t call it luck. Everyone suffered. The pirates who attacked us admitted they were hired by someone from Pado Planet.”
“Ah…”
“Unfortunately, the Pirate Leader escaped. The rest of the pirates just pushed all the blame onto him.”
“Those damn scum.” Yang Bo was filled with righteous anger.
“Forget it. You should focus on taking more nutrients. As a Genetic Evolver, you need enough nutrition.”
“Thank you, Boss.”
Five days later, Yang Bo signed the contract. The total price was 163 million, after discounts, Yang Bo had to pay nearly 100 million himself. He was exempt from taxes as a low-tier citizen. Higher-tier citizens, though, would be taxed heavily, like B-tier citizens who would have to pay 120 million in taxes on a house costing 100 million, a luxury tax.
“A flying vehicle.” Yang Bo planned to buy a flying vehicle. The river experienced seasonal flooding, so building a bridge wasn’t practical. Besides, the procedures for building a bridge were complicated, especially concerning environmental regulations, which could take three to five years for approval after several observations.
Flying vehicles were incredibly expensive, including the maintenance and equipment. In the end, he bought an Anti-Gravity Car for 1.8 million credits. It had a maximum altitude of 10,000 meters and a top speed of Mach 5. However, it lacked any energy shielding and was recommended for use within cities.
It was six meters long and two meters wide. The design was odd, with a boxy lower half and an oval canopy on top…it looked strange.
Yang Bo visited his property and saw only robots working. No manual labor in sight. A large machine had crushed all the tall grass and shrubs in the front. Another pushed down the debris, creating smooth lines from low to high, then grass seeds were scattered, and water was sprayed.
Yang Bo also completed the virtual assessment of how March Planet handled dangerous creatures. Unfortunately, it was only a simulation, so no real skills were learned. He quickly finished it.
“Tsk, tsk.” With some time before work, Yang Bo watched the battles of Superpower users. It felt like watching a Hollywood blockbuster.
In one video, a superpower user wielding two swords and wearing an energy suit faced another superpower user with a sword in one hand and an energy shield in the other, also wearing an energy suit.
They moved incredibly fast, exchanging dozens of blows in seconds. To ordinary people, it just looked like afterimages.
“Without a strong physique, you can’t twist your body freely at such high speeds.” Yang Bo knew that battles between superpower users were extremely bloody and fast.
If you were even a bit slower, you might end up cut into pieces.
This wasn’t a joke. Look at the one with the two short swords—his blades swung more than 30 times in a second, causing sonic booms that sent dust flying everywhere.
Of course, the weapons weren’t ordinary either. If you swung normal metal at such speeds and suddenly reversed direction or pulled it back, it would snap instantly.
In the end, the dual-wielding swordsman was killed, his body becoming a pile of minced meat. From Yang Bo’s perspective, moving that fast took a huge toll, but even though his opponent’s energy shield shattered, it absorbed a lot of the attack’s damage.
“Boring.” After watching, Yang Bo realized all these fights were just brute force combat. There weren’t any flashy abilities like lightning or fire, or anything like Magneto’s powers.
Yang Bo imagined if he fought, he would just use anti-gravity to smash opponents into meat pies with one blow. No energy shield could stand against his hammer.
“Looks like I need to get some training equipment.” Yang Bo muttered to himself. At the very least, he needed to measure his capabilities. How big was the destructive force of his hammer? How much electric power could his lightning generate? “Yang Bo, it seems you can apply for a laser gun. I checked for you;; you need to complete training to get permission to use it.” The Fat Boss called Yang Bo.
“Ah, I’m on my way. Where do I go?”
“I’ll take you. I have connections with the Chief Magistrate on March Planet.” The Fat Boss replied.
Under the Fat Boss’s guidance, Yang Bo went to the security office to apply for a laser pistol. Since Yang Bo lived near the mountains, which were somewhat dangerous, he was eligible to carry a laser gun, although it could only be used within his property boundaries. It wouldn’t work elsewhere.
This regulation was mostly symbolic to Yang Bo. Of course, he wouldn’t use the gun lightly, but who doesn’t love guns?
“Sir, you’re a low-tier citizen, so you’re only allowed to use these three models. Are you sure?” Yang Bo was shocked. The gun looked like a child’s water pistol and had to be held with both hands. Was this really a pistol?
“Are you sure this is a pistol?” Yang Bo asked uncertainly.
“Of course. It may be an antique, but it still works just fine. It has a maximum fire rate of five shots per second, and after each charge, it can fire 500 times…it’s controlled by a button because you don’t have a biological chip…” The officer shrugged.
“Alright, then.” Yang Bo nodded. The explanation made sense.
“First, you need to learn how to maintain the laser gun. Here’s the batteryy, the safety, the lock…” Yang Bo began the learning process and bought insurance in case the laser gun accidentally harmedd someone.
Though it had a range of 3,000 meters, when Yang Bo aimed at his neighbors from his property, the laser gun would automaticallyy reduce its range. High-tech really was impressive.
Yang Bo had a great memory. He pretended to make some mistakes a few times before successfully assembling the gun himself.
Then he moved to the shooting test area.
“This is the indicator light. Once fully charged, you can unlock the safety. Here’s the trigger.”
“Also, this is the power adjustment. You need to use both hands together.” The officer demonstrated.
Yang Bo then started shooting. He felt that the experience was underwhelming. It wasn’t nearly as satisfying as a Mecha’s laser cannon, which could fire hundreds of times a second.
But there was no choice…the final assessment was hitting 60 moving targets in one minute. It took Yang Bo three tries before he met the standard.
“Haha, haha.” The Fat Boss laughed as he looked at the laser gun hanging on Yang Bo”s waist after getting in the car. The gun looked like a latest-generation high-frequency laser gun..
“I’ll go home and try to make one that looks identical but is actually a high-frequency laser gun.” Yang Bo silently swore to himself after examining the gun’s appearance.
