Chapter 155: Mission Mode
by xennovel“Yang Bo, if you notice someone tailing you or anything unusual, notify me immediately.” After arriving at the Company and getting out of the car, the Fat Boss said.
Yang Bo stood up from the seat. The chair in the Fat Boss’s car automatically transports the person out along with the seat. After getting off, the seat retracts.
“Ah, Boss, what’s going on?” Yang Bo felt a jolt of anxiety. Could someone be targeting him?
Liu Zhijie spoke up: “There were some pirates we missed last time. These guys can’t do anything to others, so they might come after our residents… maybe even take hostages.”
Liu Zhijie didn’t mention anything about the Grey Ash Organization. Now, no one in society knows how the Grey Ash Organization was suddenly wiped out, but it’s confirmed that its downfall is tied to Green Demon Planet.
“Got it. Those guys are ruthless.” Yang Bo nodded, though inwardly he wasn’t entirely convinced.
“You can head home. Come back to work tomorrow,” Fat Boss added.
Yang Bo started up his Anti-Gravity Car. Once inside, he said “home,” and the vehicle began moving automatically.
The anti-gravity car is totally different from the anti-gravity flyer. The flyer can reach heights of up to 10,000 meters, but from Yang Bo’s understanding, if the system is unlocked, it could even leave the atmosphere. However, it lacks protection measures such as heat shielding, radiation protection, sealing, and a space engine.
As for speed, there’s no way around it. With the overall strength, increasing the velocity further could cause it to disintegrate.
“Who could it be? Red Earl? The Grey Ash Organization?” Yang Bo pondered inside the car on his way home.
It took forty minutes for the car to reach Yang Bo’s home. Due to city speed limits, the flying car landed beside an annex, which could also be called a garage, adjacent to his large villa.
The garage uses the highest level of shielding. When the car is parked inside, the intelligent system can’t collect any information.
The villa is surrounded by water on three sides. The waterway covers several thousand acres with a maximum depth of about twelve meters.
A massive slope in front of the villa has been turned entirely into lush green lawns. The grass sprouts like wheat seedlings, and as far as the eye can see, there’s a green lawn, white sandy beaches, blue seawater, black seawater, and white clouds. One can overlook all of Alma City.
On the other side of the river, there’s another villa district, but Yang Bo can’t see them from here. That’s because his property is massive. Only straight ahead can a few of the other villa districts see Yang Bo’s place.
Once inside, Yang Bo hid his gun in a concealed spot, then moved to the elevator. It was an old-fashioned button-operated elevator, with no intelligent systems.
He arrived at the Underground Space. It’s large, with a diameter of several hundred meters and 20 meters high. The first underground floor’s height is not too much, as it’s the living and activity area. It includes gym facilities, entertainment systems, a pool, but none of it has been put into use yet.
The second floor is divided into sections of various sizes, separated by alloy armor plating and reinforced concrete. It’s where Yang Bo intends to conduct experiments—Gene Serum tests and raising invisible mice, among other things.
The third floor is where Yang Bo plans to train himself. The strength-testing instruments are already in place. The construction crew isn’t fazed by this since in people like Ma Lin’s eyes, Yang Bo and his kind are superhumans who just haven’t officially registered yet. What about An Zhijie? Anyone who’s been around a few years knows.
The fourth floor is vacant for now. The fifth floor is the equipment floor, storing fresh water, the energy system, and recycling systems. All garbage is broken down to its most fundamental molecular state, which can then be reused. Er…
“Good. This is good.” Yang Bo arrived on the third floor and released the Mecha. The eight-meter-tall Mecha had already self-repaired using energy inside the Mecha Space. Once the Mecha’s Energy Suit is damaged, it can no longer be stored in the Mecha Space.
This is a hassle since the Mecha’s energy metal generates an energy field that allows it to be stored in the Mecha Space. If it’s damaged, the field can’t form.
Yang Bo took out things from inside the Mecha, starting with the invisible mice. Before getting aboard the warship, Yang Bo provided them with plenty of food.
The nine little things didn’t look too energetic, but at least they were still alive.
Yang Bo moved the invisible mice to one of the labs on the second floor. He had set up a breeding area there for the mice. It was a bit like the bamboo rat farms on Earth, but larger. A pair of mice occupied a ten-square-meter space, with two square meters being dark environments while the rest was brightly lit. There was water and a food area, but sanitation had to be cleaned manually.
Yang Bo took out an iron container, placed it in a breeding area, quickly closed the zone, and inside was some prepared meat and other things.
The second, third, and fourth mice were released this way. The fifth one was a loner, so Yang Bo planned to test it in the wild to see what kind of mouse he could attract…
After that, Yang Bo didn’t bother further and had no time anyway. In the future, he’d determine the results based on their food intake. In the dark area, there was also some grass and other vegetation.
The temperature and air quality here were fine; even the underground temperature was constant naturally.
Yang Bo then took out the mutated leeches. There were five in total, and these creatures could even pierce Iron Bull’s skin. They had their uses since Iron Bull’s skin was as tough as an energy suit.
There was Iron Bull’s saliva as well as other gains from Green Demon Planet, including several Maintenance Robots and Central AI Cores from starships. These formed the foundation for Yang Bo to build his robots.
With Central AI Cores, he could build Maintenance Robots to assist him in constructing Mechas or even spaceships.
“Building down here is a bit awkward. Anyway, I’ll slowly gather materials.” Yang Bo’s attention shifted to the ocean. There were definitely materials to be found below the sea, but he’d have to gather them gradually. The sensitive materials aboard warships were all strategic resources.
“I’ll continue tomorrow.” Yang Bo watched as the leeches burrowed into the meat, then left the Underground Bunker. Using his metal powers, Yang Bo locked the fortress doors.
The next day, Yang Bo drove to the Company and noticed the Boss’s surprised expression. “Boss, where is everyone else?”
“They’re all scattered across March Planet for convenience in accepting missions. Fewer than ten people live in Alma City.” Liu Zhijie said. The truth was, it was more convenient for people to take missions offline and avoid frequently showing up at the Company.
“Yang Bo, there are plenty of tasks here. You can just pick one on the web yourself.”
“From now on, you only need to complete twenty E-level tasks or five D-level tasks per month to get your base salary and full attendance bonus. The working hours are pretty flexible.” The Fat Boss explained.
Yang Bo finally understood why he hadn’t seen many people on Pado Planet. It was because of this system.
“If you finish your annual task quota early, you can take the rest of the year off,” Fat Boss continued.
“Of course, after completing extra tasks, the commission share increases. The details are all listed. I suggest you take on this task.” The Fat Boss pulled up a mission.
“Clean up gold-eating ants at the mining site?” Yang Bo saw it was for clearing a mining site over 900 kilometers from Alma City. It was fully automated, but several ants had appeared and were damaging the equipment.
