Chapter 160: Fat Boss’s Plan
by xennovelYang Bo not only used the Energy Suit’s superpower but also triggered his Swimming Grandmaster ability, reaching an incredible speed, causing violent water disturbances in the sea.
Following behind Yang Bo was a five-meter long, one-meter wide, gray vessel with a scalpel-shaped nose.
In the Control Room of the Alma City Coast Guard, alarms blared as several operators looked at the bright red numbers.
“That can’t be real. Could the device be malfunctioning?” A captain stared at the glaring figure on the screen—362 knots, and that was in the sea.
“Sir, it’s not wrong. Just look at our unmanned patrol craft. It’s already running at 310 knots, beyond its limit.” A subordinate pointed at another set of data.
“That’s terrifying. Issue a warning. Inform the citizens to avoid the sea.” The captain, seeing the fading traces, immediately gave the order.
“Sir, shouldn’t we issue a complete ban?”
“Shut up and execute the order.” The captain had a headache. The seas of March Planet were home to some terrifying creatures, and they’d been discovered more than once. But the Government wouldn’t release the information. If they did, no one would want to emigrate to March Planet.
Think about it—poisonous insects and plants all over the land, and unknown sea creatures? Who would want to live here? Yang Bo, watching the unmanned sub passing ahead, breathed a sigh of relief. Although he had swum fast just now, the energy consumption was immense. So, he became invisible and hid at the seafloor.
Machines are machines. They can run all day if they want. Humans can’t.
“What is this thing made of? If I run out of materials later, can I smash it with a hammer and take it back?” Yang Bo looked at the fast-moving machine, figuring its material strength must be quite high.
“Next time, I’ll explore deeper into the ocean.” After waiting for a bit, Yang Bo slowly left.
Once back home, Yang Bo pondered: “This March Planet is really strange. Poisonous bugs on land, and mutated creatures in the sea?”
“I wonder where March Planet’s classified information is stored. Maybe I should sneak in and take a look?”
“If not, I should bail out early. Why is my luck so bad?” Yang Bo felt a headache coming on. March Planet didn’t seem as normal as it appeared.
Of course, for a planet like March, it’s actually considered pretty decent. Some planets have temperatures hundreds of degrees below zero. Others are riddled with viruses, and still others have such extreme gravity that without protective gear, you’d immediately die—even superpowered individuals can’t handle it.
That’s because superhumans don’t have the endurance that machines do.
Opening the Company’s task list, Yang Bo carefully checked, only to find that the rewards were pretty high, much higher than they were on Pado Planet.
“Is this because my rank in the Company increased?” Yang Bo wondered.
What he didn’t know was that the Fat Boss planned to cultivate him as a trusted subordinate. Of course, he’d assign high-reward tasks. Who wouldn’t take care of their own?
“This world is still great. At least it’s not overly competitive. Even a bit of work is enough to live comfortably. And if you really don’t want to work, at worst you can just lie down and do nothing.” Yang Bo thought lazily while browsing tasks. This world didn’t feel like Earth, where you’d starve if you didn’t work, and relationships between people didn’t seem as complicated since people largely didn’t interact.
Fat Boss was at home training. Sitting cross-legged in his room, he was practicing a family-secret method.
“It’s too hard. Why did my ancestors train in Ancient Martial Arts?” Fat Boss picked up a mirror and looked at himself. Despite being only 39, he now had a big belly, flabby fat, and was losing hair.
“Not enough. I need to get back in shape by next year, or when I go back to the family for matchmaking, only women from minor families will show interest in me.” Fat Boss muttered as he stared at his reflection.
“And if I don’t make any more progress, those loudmouths in the family will really come down on me.” Fat Boss thought about those loudmouths in his family and regretted being so bold and venturing out in his youth. He wasn’t living as comfortably as they were.
Leaving his training room, Fat Boss soaked himself in the bathtub, pondering: “Should I let Yang Bo learn some other things? But what exactly is his superpower? After all, our family only excels at forging, not gene injections.”
“I also need to take him out to experience the world more. He’s just awakened and already holds such tremendous power. If he later awakens an elemental superpower, that would be even better.”
“It’s a pity we’re too far from the family. Otherwise, I could take him back for testing.” Fat Boss hummed contentedly while enjoying the water, thinking it over.
After finishing his bath, Liu Zhijie glanced at the tasks Yang Bo had accepted before bed, nodding: “As long as he wants to make money, that’s easy. The family has no shortage of it.”
When Yang Bo went to bed, he discovered Alma City had issued a warning: There were unknown risks in the sea, and citizens were advised to stay in waters no deeper than five meters.
Because going beyond five meters would increase the difficulty of rescue operations and delay warning notifications.
“Looks like this happened while I was at the seafloor. Do they think I’m some unknown threat?” Yang Bo thought.
The next day, Yang Bo went to the Company, picked up his tools, and drove his Flying Car to the Alma City library.
This task was to clean up the corpses of various animals and insects that had triggered the rooftop electric net.
The laws of this world were strange. On one hand, they had strict animal protection laws, but in some areas, animals didn’t count for anything.
On the land Yang Bo purchased, any animal or person who trespassed could be killed if Yang Bo deemed them a threat. Even if they posed no real harm, as long as you told the judge you were scared, you’d only face a small fine at most. Usually, nothing major would happen.
The same went for the electric net. The theory was that it was passive. If animals or anything else touched it, the injury wasn’t intentional… total nonsense.
What a load of crap, isn’t it?
Wearing insulated gear, Yang Bo followed the librarian around the building.
He took note of the library’s layout. It was said there were important materials here—millions of printed volumes.
The librarian explained the things Yang Bo needed to be careful about. After listening, Yang Bo nodded: “Got it. By the way, can E-level residents visit the library?”
“Of course, it’s open to everyone.” The librarian glanced back at Yang Bo and nodded.
“No distinction at all?” Yang Bo asked incredulously.
“None at all,” the librarian reaffirmed. But silently, he added to himself: Don’t blame others if you can’t understand it. Anyway, the library can’t introduce discriminatory policies. There’s no ‘you can’t access this’ or ‘you can’t go there.’
