Chapter Index

“I suggest establishing a special operations department that primarily manages the remote-controlled Mecha system,” a senior figure from the military department suggested.

“In reality, soldiers have all sorts of issues, and the current problem can’t be solved.”

“For situations like the Red Earl, where ground forces need to be deployed, let this remote department handle it. Virtual imagery can alter the environment, making players feel like they’re in a game.”

“Some players in the game are quite special, and dealing with Red Earl’s situation needs a swift, precise handling. We can later store a batch of Mecha on every Capital Star, ready to be remotely controlled if any accidents occur on the planet, which also strengthens the planet’s military power.”

The military’s suggestion made the Speaker and several other senior figures nod slightly.

Everyone understood what “special” meant. In crucial times, like the Red Earl incident, special players were required.

“The peaceful development of the Alliance is something we all want to see. We don’t want anything that might harm that peace,” the Speaker nodded, expressing agreement. After all, only peaceful development allows the major powers to continue controlling the Alliance.

The Chief Judge also nodded: “The Pado Planet incident can follow special procedures, skipping parliamentary approval. This is already a rebellion, and the military has the right to handle it autonomously.”

“The Alliance belongs to all of us. To maintain the Alliance, we can do anything. Right now, the priority is communicating with the Captain of the warship to gain control, allowing for remote operations,” another senior figure from the military department spoke.

“Remote controlling Mecha is the future trend. Not only can it train large numbers of civilian Mecha pilots, but it can also handle emergencies.”

“The key now is to gain the Captain’s support. Once that’s done, we’ll immediately apply for special action,” said another military official.

“I’ll handle communication with the Captain’s family,” the Speaker nodded, understanding the significant pressure from Parliament, especially with the opposition still present.

Yang Bo arrived at the Company in the morning and received tools from the Fat Boss. The Fat Boss said, “Be careful. If anything happens, contact me immediately.”

“Understood, Boss,” Yang Bo nodded and set off in his Flying Car to the task site.

Today’s task was simple: help a resident check for possible animal invasion into their home. The resident suspected an animal had entered their property.

The cost for this type of task wasn’t low. Investigation tasks like this were troublesome, and high-tech methods couldn’t be used in other people’s homes. Each had their reasons, whether it was for safety concerns or purely personal beliefs.

Yang Bo didn’t bother guessing, no different than how on Earth you can’t understand why the West has so many genders. It’s personal privacy, freedom…

He arrived at a not-so-small villa near the sea. Clearly, the owner had high social standing.

“Hello,” Yang Bo called out when he reached the villa.

Although the task system already indicated he could go in, Yang Bo still followed protocol.

“Hello, I’m not home. Just go inside,” a man’s voice came from the intercom at the door.

“Got it,” Yang Bo replied and entered the courtyard, heading towards a side building near the villa.

The side building served as a storage room and garage. Yang Bo’s task was to check for any animal invasion into this building.

Yang Bo stood outside the building, holding his equipment, and began inspecting. First, he checked the area around the side building.

As Yang Bo surveyed the outside of the building, a middle-aged man inside the main villa was silently watching him.

“He doesn’t seem to have superpowers. He’s too young!” the middle-aged man muttered to himself as he observed Yang Bo from the window, who was inspecting the garage surroundings.

The middle-aged man wasn’t fully aware of Yang Bo’s details, but he did know his age.

The man carefully watched Yang Bo, silently crafting a plan in his mind.

“Attacking him during the mission could be risky, with a high chance of exposing myself.”

“But this kid doesn’t frequent private places after work, making it hard to strike.”

“Fortunately, his house is by the sea. That could be useful.”

“Sneaking into his place would be more convenient. His home is on the outskirts of the city, in a complex environment. Even if something goes wrong, no one would suspect me.”

“But it seems like this kid has a good relationship with the Fat Boss from An Zhijie Corporation.”

    “Let’s assume he’s a super-evolver. Being this young, at most, he’s probably no higher than D-level. As a B-level super-powered individual, I’ve got this.”

The middle-aged man continued to calculate different scenarios. Those who remain deeply undercover are always crafty, never acting until they are fully prepared.

Yang Bo had no idea he was being watched. This villa had excellent security arrangements.

Besides, with fighter jets and railguns up there, who was Yang Bo afraid of?

    Confidence comes with skill.

After following protocol and inspecting the building’s exterior with no signs of intrusion, Yang Bo entered the side building.

The middle-aged man again watched through his security system, seeing Yang Bo diligently working in his uniform. There was energy-detection equipment inside the side building. The man had hired others for similar work before and knew that super-powered individuals tended to use their abilities to speed up the job.

For instance, next to the lawnmower in the storage room, the middle-aged man had prepared a small clue. Normally, someone would have to move the mower to inspect beneath it. A super-powered individual might use their abilities to lift it easily.

But Yang Bo just glanced at it and made a note—not a super-powered individual, clearly.

“His attitude towards work is lacking,” the middle-aged man thought, criticizing Yang Bo for performing the inspection too hastily, barely looking at many of the areas where he should have followed procedure.

Yang Bo had already determined that there were no intruding animals with just his footsteps, so he simply moved through the routine, snapped some photos, and concluded that there were no signs of intrusion before leaving.

But to the middle-aged man, this was the final proof that Yang Bo didn’t have superpowers.

After completing the task, Yang Bo returned to the Company, returned the tools, and addressed the Fat Boss: “Boss, after I finish this week’s work, I’m taking the rest of the month off.”

“Of course, no problem. I’ll have more materials for you in a few days,” the Fat Boss replied. His company had anti-surveillance measures, so conversations were safe from prying ears.

“Thank you, Boss. I’m heading out now.” Yang Bo planned to visit the Library to verify something the Fat Boss had mentioned.
