Chapter Index

Yang Bo arrived at the library and first checked the catalog. He found that there were indeed millions of books, and quite a few people were reading.

“Gene Pharmacology.” Yang Bo looked at the library’s catalog, then went directly to the corresponding bookshelf. The library had six floors, each divided into dozens of sections.

There were countless fields of study, and Gene Pharmacology was one of the major ones.

Holding a physical book in his hand, Yang Bo felt nostalgic. Back on Earth, other than his days as a student, he rarely had the chance to read physical books after entering society.

After reading for a while, he realized that he had to look under the Energy Science section to find information on making Gene Injections.

In the Energy Science section, he found another category: Energy Science for Gene Injections.

It was roughly the same as what the Fat Boss had said, but the book’s explanations were much more precise—after all, it was a book.

The book mentioned that Gene Injections are a kind of energy that stimulates human genes to mutate, granting superpowers. It also said that human gene development is far from complete. There are strange life forms among carbon-based creatures, like those that generate electricity or emit light. These beings possess many unimaginable abilities. For example, photosynthesis in trees—recent studies show that some people can even gain abilities similar to plant photosynthesis.

Yang Bo couldn’t fully understand the details. All these particles, nucleic acids, and so on…

“Looks like the Fat Boss wasn’t lying.” After finishing his reading, Yang Bo confirmed this fact.

Then, having nothing else to do, he looked into the history of the Azure Blue Empire and Crimson Federation.

“The Crimson Federation was founded by pirates?” Yang Bo found it hard to believe, but that’s what the book stated. Before humanity entered space, the Crimson Federation began as an alliance of Crimson Pirates, which eventually formed the Federation.

After reading the general history of the Crimson Federation, Yang Bo learned more. But of course, this was history written by the Alliance, so whether it’s true or not, Yang Bo couldn’t say for sure.

“Life is tough in the Crimson Federation, but they do have some benefits. On certain stars, you can even marry five wives.” Yang Bo felt a little envious of some of the laws on certain Capital Stars in the Crimson Federation.

As the afternoon approached, Yang Bo left the library. He didn’t find anything on Forging, but he did find content about Energy Metal. Energy Metal is categorized by the amount of energy it contains. It’s widely used in various fields but is difficult to process and scarce. After reading, Yang Bo understood that Energy Metal is hard to work with, and there isn’t much of it, so there wasn’t much else to find.

While Yang Bo was in the library, the Fat Boss was planning how to help Yang Bo grow quickly, while also thinking about how to control him.

“How about when I head back, I take Yang Bo home with me and have a sister or niece marry him? That way, Yang Bo will have to listen to me in the future.”

“But his status is too low. The family might not allow it.”

“What should I do then?” The Fat Boss was conflicted today. On one hand, Yang Bo’s talent was extraordinary, and on the other, the Fat Boss felt a sense of crisis. Yang Bo might become difficult to control due to his overwhelming talent.

Yang Bo, however, didn’t care about the Fat Boss’s feelings. He returned home, parked the Flying Car in the garage, and gazed at the distant city, the azure ocean, and the red mountains on the right. He felt quite relaxed. This place was enormous.

“I’ll train underwater again tonight.” Last time Yang Bo dove to the bottom of the sea, he’d thought that using the pressure of the ocean to train his physique seemed like a good idea. This time would be a perfect opportunity to try it out.

He went down to the basement and checked on the Invisible Mice. These little guys were similar to bamboo rats on Earth and were no longer afraid of him. When Yang Bo approached, some even came over, as if expecting food.

“Seems like they’ve accepted me. This should make things easier.” Yang Bo felt a sense of accomplishment and fed the little creatures vegetables, fruits, and some meat.

He hadn’t bought any commercial pet food since he didn’t own any pets. Buying pet food might draw attention.

After sealing off the elevator to the underground bunker from the inside using his superpower over metal, he began preparing dinner himself.

As dinner cooked, Yang Bo went to the room with internet access. The room had the best shielding measures all around.

Still no news about Pado Planet, but two other countries expressed support for its independence.

“Could this lead to a world war?” Yang Bo wondered.

He then opened the Mecha game, intending to see if there were any new developments.

“Dear player, congratulations! You’ve been selected to participate in the beta test for the new expansion?” Yang Bo found an email, opened it, and was a bit confused.

“What’s the military planning?” Yang Bo wondered.

After drinking some water, he clicked the link in the email and carefully reviewed it.

“New expansion, new instance?” The email explained in detail that Yang Bo was invited to participate in the beta test for a new expansion in the mecha game. After the beta, the officials would decide whether to release the new instance.

If accepted, he’d need to agree to participate. The test was scheduled for four days later and would last approximately 12 hours, during which all players had to be online.

“Are they really just making a game?” Yang Bo felt skeptical but clicked to accept anyway.

“Four days from now, that’ll be Sunday. Let’s see what they’re up to with this game.” Yang Bo knew this was no ordinary game.

“Could it be that post-apocalyptic instance they mentioned earlier?”

“The Fat Boss once said that some planets lost contact. Could that be where things went wrong?”

“Were they taken over by the Rebel Force, or did something like a Gene Serum failure cause a post-apocalyptic scenario?” Yang Bo had a head full of questions as he finished his meal.

After eating, Yang Bo undressed, getting ready to train his body in the ocean depths.

Just as he stepped outside, he noticed the wind was stronger today. Following the path outside his house, he arrived at the seashore, where there was also a small dock.

Invisible, Yang Bo went into the ocean, heading straight to the bottom. Because he was invisible, he could pass through fluids.

The only thing to watch out for were the fish and shrimp, as he couldn’t pass through living creatures.

Fortunately, Yang Bo’s senses were extremely sharp in the water, so he didn’t run into any fish or shrimp.

“Maybe I’ll grab something from the sea today to see how it tastes.” Looking at all the strange things in the ocean, Yang Bo thought to himself.

“700 meters deep. It’s starting to feel uncomfortable here.” In his invisible state, Yang Bo reached about 700 meters deep and felt significant pressure. He decided not to go any deeper for now.
