Chapter Index

Why did Yang Bo dare to do this? It’s because the mecha wasn’t his, and he wasn’t actually inside it.

Besides, even if money was lost, it would be Robert’s loss, not his.

If worse came to worst, he could help Robert take out a loan to play. Why worry? He knew his biometric verification would pass without fail.

You know what? When waiting for control of the mecha game to come, Yang Bo would just have to help Robert take out a loan to play.

Other players still had some concerns. They were used to being cautious in the past, completely unaware that this mission was different. Yang Bo knew it was special, as its main purpose was to quell the rebellion on Pado Planet. As long as the damage to the mecha was justified, they’d just give you another one.

Yang Bo’s maneuver stunned both sides’ mecha pilots. The players outside the police station, watching him, nearly shouted ‘666!’ in unison.

The police station’s first floor was 15 meters high, and these guys had actually dragged down the rooftop’s defensive cannons! However, Yang Bo jumped down from above, quickly making his way inside. The guys in energy suits controlling the cannons couldn’t react fast enough as Yang Bo’s mecha came barreling toward them.

With a sideways roll, Yang Bo’s mecha smashed into the men in energy suits like a rolling cannonball.

The ones in the energy suits hit by the 100-ton, Mach 2-speed mecha were instantly squashed like overripe tomatoes.

Alarms blared inside Yang Bo’s mecha. The next second, he initiated the mecha’s laser cannon auto-attack and didn’t bother standing up.

    “If I die, I die!”

Given that a few bodies cushioned the fall and that he crashed into cabinets meant for police station receptions, Yang Bo’s mecha was badly damaged, but not fatally.

Seven or eight enemy mechas locked their laser cannons onto Yang Bo and opened fire.

But the next second, a lot of lasers flew in from outside.

For a moment, the police station’s first-floor lobby was chaotic, with lasers flying back and forth. There was nowhere left to hide.

Two seconds later, the enemy mechas inside were blown up. Yang Bo realized his mecha was still operational.

    “Bro, you’re amazing!”

“Hey, are you an advanced or ace mecha pilot?” Within just two seconds, the few enemy mechas in the police station had been destroyed, and about 30 more mechas rushed in from outside, all of them impressed with Yang Bo.

One gamer glanced at the blood on Yang Bo’s mecha, frowning slightly.

Yang Bo didn’t say anything. He got up, moved around, and seeing the blood and flesh stuck to his mecha, felt a bit uncomfortable. He quickly headed upstairs.

Other mechas also rushed upstairs one by one.

The people upstairs couldn’t react in time, though there were mecha stationed there because there were nearly ten mechas and a defensive cannon in the first-floor lobby.

Yang Bo ignored the enemy mechas, using his mecha’s laser cannon to target those in energy suits.

As long as they weren’t Red Earl-level armor-wearing combatants, most of them were proficient in Gene Mastery.

Yang Bo couldn’t wrap his head around it. Thirty mechas charged up the stairs from both sides. The police station had nine floors.

Watching Yang Bo using his jetpack to bounce around the stairwell, scraping his mecha against the walls and sparking all the way, the other players stared.

The laser cannon on his mecha’s shoulder never stopped, picking off the armed men in energy suits one by one.

Auto-attack couldn’t be activated inside because there were hostages present.

    ————————————

In the Military offices, big shots debated among themselves. Many felt relieved watching Yang Bo’s performance. This rebellion, led by the Red Earl, was mostly the Military’s fault. First, Pado Planet’s fleet defected, leading to the police system being upgraded with a virus and taken over.

    “Is Robert really this good?”

“A soldier who fights recklessly is a good soldier!”

“I love this kind of combat style. Watching those Red Earl bastards get turned into fireworks almost made me crack open a bottle in celebration.”

“His technique is rough, but his mecha control speed is clearly at an advanced level. More importantly, his mind is sharp.”

“Should we draft him into the military?”

“Nah, guys like him who fight recklessly shouldn’t be drafted. Just let him handle remote mechas. If we drafted him, he’d probably end up dead on the battlefield.”

“Robert usually isn’t this reckless. Maybe it’s because it’s just a game. If we told him to kill someone for real, he probably wouldn’t do it. Didn’t one of you say he’s a member of some animal association?”

    “Forget it then.”

It didn’t take 30 mechas half a minute to reach the rooftop. Yang Bo’s mecha was still in bad shape but functional.

“Looks like the Red Earl’s forces don’t have many mechas. The police station is held by nearly 200 armed men but only about 20 mechas.” Charging upward, Yang Bo realized something.

Just as the fighting ended, Yang Bo received new orders.

“Over 200 kilometers away? What kind of weird task is this?” After receiving the mission, Yang Bo directed his mecha towards the target zone.

At this moment, the map on Yang Bo’s mecha lit up, showing the position of allied mechas as blue dots and enemy spots as red dots.

“What a waste of potential headshots…” Yang Bo sighed at the sight, but since the Military—no, the game system—had specified a direction, there had to be more action ahead.

Yang Bo’s mecha sped along the road and soon reached the site, finding nothing but devastation. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be a freight station for the space elevator.

In the distance, lasers could be seen in a nearby location.

“What kind of facility has so many mechas inside?” Yang Bo noticed a circular building in the warehouse district, with at least 20 mechas exchanging fire with whatever was inside.

It had turned into a trench battle. The players used energy shields to block the enemy mecha’s laser cannons, while the opposing mechas also deployed energy shields. It seemed like their shields were of a higher grade.

Everything energy-related has different levels of priority.

After surveying the circular building, which had a diameter of about 400 meters, Yang Bo noticed that the walls, battered by laser cannon fire, were reinforced with warship armor.

“What kind of indestructible shell is this? Can’t a warship just fire a shot from above?” Yang Bo felt something was amiss. Could it be because they were afraid the hostages would be killed?

He looked off into the distance and saw what appeared to be a landing pad for transport ships.

“I should check it out.” From what Yang Bo remembered, the transport ships had very tough exteriors, made of the same material as warship armor.
