Chapter Index

Yang Bo headed toward the transport ship, and this strange move puzzled the Military personnel!

Due to certain political reasons, the warship couldn’t fire. The noise from the warship’s guns would be too loud, and the entire Pado Planet would see it.

Also, firing the warship requires a series of procedures. When the warship first arrived at Pado Planet, if the news of the rebellion had not leaked, the Military could have issued orders as they pleased.

Now that the rebellion is known, if the Military issues an attack order now, the opposition within the Parliament might form a committee to investigate after the rebellion is quelled.

Even if they succeed in suppressing the rebellion, if too many civilians die, the opposition faction in the Alliance would definitely oppose them for the sake of opposing, creating public outrage against these Military personnel.

It’s like on Earth, where sometimes someone tells the truth but still gets investigated and loses their job. It’s the same logic.

However, with unmanned mechas, there are plenty of excuses—software errors, system crashes, hacker intrusion, etc. They could even claim that Red Earl’s people had hacked the system from within the warship. After all, this isn’t Red Earl’s first time doing something like this.

It’s like the building Yang Bo is looking at. Since it’s unclear how many Pado Planet citizens are inside, if the warship opens fire recklessly, causing the deaths of dozens or even hundreds of civilians, negligence charges would definitely follow.

If the Captain is charged with negligence, at least a few Military leaders would have to step down. Otherwise, the opposition won’t let it slide. They’d use it to promote their own people.

    —————————————

    Many Military leaders frowned.

“Why is that guy heading elsewhere? Didn’t the system instruct him to attack?”

“There’s no choice. Alert the other players and have them attack more aggressively.”

“This is what mecha combat should look like. Robert’s way of fighting is just suicidal.”

“This kind of person can only handle remote control. If he were on a real battlefield, he’d die in one go.”

“We can’t actively prompt them. We still don’t know how many hostages are inside this Four Seas Company base.”

“The mecha should at least go inside to check. If there aren’t many hostages, we can use unconventional weapons.”

“Better not do that, or the Captain will get entangled in it.”

“Let the players act freely. We have way more mechas than they do.”

“But they have defense turrets. These turrets are part of the planetary defense system. Over 1,300 ground turrets are missing, most of them dismantled.”

“How did Red Earl’s people infiltrate the Military so deeply?”

“It seems connected to a certain military training base.”

The Military leaders were frustrated with Yang Bo for not attacking the system’s marked targets.

Yang Bo had originally planned to check out the transport landing site for warship armor. But after arriving, he realized it wasn’t as simple as it seemed.

Yang Bo had warship repair skills. There’s not much difference between a warship and a transport ship, mainly in their energy systems, weapons systems, and energy shields.

“This transport ship seems to be in standby mode?” Coming near a hangar, Yang Bo noticed the transport ship seemed to be in standby.

Transport ships in hangars are usually not in standby mode.

It’s like how fighter jets on Earth are chained down with tire blocks in place when they’re in a hangar.

Also, when a jet takes off, the pilot has to use their personal ID to start it. Before taking off, you’ll often see U.S. pilots accessing their plane’s underbelly to insert their ID.

That way, no one can steal the aircraft.

Transport ships have even more advanced systems. Usually, standby mode means they’re ready for takeoff.

Yang Bo glanced around, then left.

The Military leaders were alarmed by what they saw.

“That transport ship is suspicious, it’s in standby mode!”

“It must be Red Earl’s people about to flee!”

    “Alert this player immediately!”

“This player doesn’t understand transport ships.”

“This transport ship looks modified. It’s not from Pado Planet, and even the serial number seems off.” The other people in the control room rushed to identify it.

In the next second, the mecha that just passed by the hangar suddenly turned and charged toward the transport ship.

As the mecha rushed toward it, several laser turrets suddenly popped up on the transport ship’s surface.

    “An illegally modified transport ship!”

“It must be Red Earl’s top brass, heading to Pado Planet next!”

“These rats were still here, preparing for a backup plan!”

Through the mecha’s visuals, the Military leaders watched as turret after turret appeared.

The next second, Yang Bo’s move stunned everyone in the room.

Yang Bo turned back from the hangar and rushed the transport ship in under a second.

Cold sweat covered Yang Bo’s face as he, too, spotted the turrets emerging from the corner of his eye.

In an instant, Yang Bo drove his energy blade deep into the belly of the transport ship.

The rotating laser turrets on the transport ship instantly froze.

The faint glow that had started to show on the transport ship’s surface also dimmed.

Then, the mecha moved to the back of the transport ship, aiming its laser cannon at the engines, firing in rapid succession.

In the Military control room, everyone stood in shock.

The colonel in charge of the operation wiped his cold sweat. If that ship had taken off, they wouldn’t have dared to fire. No one knew who or what might be inside.

“He hit the energy transfer node. This type of transport ship usually only has one energy transfer system. Warships have two, maybe more.” The colonel quickly received a report from his subordinates and explained.

“This guy seems to know something about transport ships!”

“Looks like he’s not a simple person. We should investigate further.”

“Ordinary people don’t understand the energy systems of transport ships.”

The colonel added, “This mecha hit the transport ship’s engine. Once the engine starts, its immense energy not only protects it from laser attacks but also makes it almost immune to physical assaults due to the high energy frequencies.”

“But an engine that hasn’t started has many weaknesses.” The colonel received another report and continued.

The colonel didn’t know everything. He had to rely on experts in this field to be informed.

    “Who could be inside?”

“We overlooked the importance of monitoring the transport ship’s landing site.”

“What’s that guy doing? Is he really planning to force open the transport ship’s hatch?” They watched as Yang Bo controlled the mecha, holding an energy weapon, seemingly ready to do something drastic to the transport ship.
