Chapter Index

PS: Two more updates around noon.

The next second, Yang Bo arrived in front of a laser turret that had stopped rotating and began wildly slashing at it with the mecha’s energy weapon.

Soon, some gaps appeared in the turret’s base.

Feeling this method was too slow, the person controlling the mecha moved it to a position over 1000 meters in front of the spaceship and activated the mecha’s flight pack.

The mecha, holding a gigantic weapon, instantly charged towards the transport ship.

The energy turret was blown away, leaving only the base behind.

Everyone in the Military was completely baffled. “What is this guy trying to do?”

Then, the mecha glanced to the side, picked up its energy weapon, and slashed forcefully at a cabinet, revealing numerous pipes and equipment.

The mecha grabbed a yellow pipe and jammed it into the base of the turret.

The colonel was drenched in sweat, completely unable to understand what the mecha was doing.

The colonel’s subordinates quickly took a screenshot, zoomed in, and examined the markings on the pipe.

“This is the cooling system for the laser turret. When the turret operates, it generates massive heat and needs this system to cool down.”

“When the laser turret is not in use, the temperature in space can sometimes drop significantly, and the turret needs to maintain its internal temperature.” The colonel’s subordinate enlarged a picture and pointed out a small hole on the base of the turret.

“The yellow pipe the mecha grabbed is part of the cooling system as well. It’s condensed gas for the spaceship’s engine cooling system.”

“However, the engine cooling system functions at a much lower temperature. Using it here would damage the turret’s cooling system.” The colonel’s subordinate explained in detail.

Seeing the higher-ups in the Military utterly confused, the colonel quickly asked his subordinate, “Just tell me the final outcome.”

“The result is that using the wrong condensed gas will have a disastrous impact on the internal structure of the spaceship. The transport ship’s system will trigger an alarm, activating the automatic escape system to evacuate personnel.”

“The escape system has an independent power supply and is the most secure system, making it impervious to hacking.” The colonel’s subordinate added.

“But wouldn’t the cooling gas stop working if the pipe is damaged?” one of the Military leaders asked in confusion.

“No, because this gas is used in small quantities and comes in canisters. Even if it leaks, it’s just one canister worth of gas.”

“So the transport ship’s cooling system will be filled with this gas?” the Military leader asked.

“We’re not sure about this modified transport ship, but on warships, the cooling system would reject this gas and automatically close the valves. However, there’s a distance between the turret’s base and the valve.”

“And in that distance, there’s a 90% chance of encountering the escape system’s sensors.”

“Once the sensors detect the cooling system pipe, the extreme cold will damage the metal, triggering the escape system’s alarm. It seems this mecha is using this method to fool the system.”

“The escape system is installed throughout the transport ship. If it detects abnormally low temperatures or damage to the metal, it activates…”

Before the subordinate could finish, a hatch under the transport ship opened, releasing an inflatable cushion. One by one, people slid out of it like a playground slide.

“The escape system is mandatory on all flying vessels. Even illegal modifications must include it, because without it, no flight control system would allow the ship to take off, nor could it dock at other spaceports or any administrative planets.” The colonel’s subordinate explained further.

Yang Bo watched as over 100 people slid down the inflatable ramp, most of them looking utterly bewildered.

“The escape system is really something,” Yang Bo muttered bitterly. In his previous life, he had once accidentally triggered a fire suppression system, ruining a client’s goods and losing a year’s worth of wages.

Over 100 people looked up at the nine-meter-tall mecha, which was holding a massive weapon in its hand while the laser cannon on its shoulder swayed back and forth.

“We got saved just like that!” Many people internally cursed, thinking that without the escape system, how could a mecha have opened the transport ship?

Suddenly, a flash of light flickered around one of the people, who left an afterimage before exploding over 100 meters away.

The explosion was caused by the mecha’s laser cannon hitting that person.

“What trash! That’s a warship pilot?!” Yang Bo muttered, then moved up to the group of over 100 people.

The Military leaders were so excited they slammed the table.

“It’s the Administrator of Pado Planet! These scum tried to flee in the middle of battle, and even illegally modified the transport ship. They must be jailed!”

“The Administrator of Pado Planet is a core figure in the opposition. This time, we’ll wipe out the rebel faction completely.”

“And the Minister of Finance for Pado Planet! This guy colluded with the Four Seas Pharmaceutical Company, which is now backed by the Red Earl—they’re in bed with rebel and extremist organizations!”

“Quick, submit the video evidence to the Chief Justice and the Speaker. Our operation is foolproof this time.” The Military leaders had risked much to make this happen.

Suppressing a rebellion was the duty of soldiers, but politicians would later nitpick, accusing them of unnecessary killings or saying the enemies had human rights.

Disgusting! But the work still had to be done.

While Yang Bo stood there, unsure of what to do next, he heard a sudden noise outside. Looking up, he saw two fighter jets land.

A line of text appeared on the screen: “Congratulations, player! You’ve rescued a key hostage and earned two revive tokens.”

“Could these be important people from the Military?” Yang Bo muttered to himself, then turned and walked away.

“If I’d known they were untouchables, I wouldn’t have bothered sticking my nose into this,” he thought, feeling exasperated by the wasted time.

He went to the transport ship’s repair area, looking around before stopping at one spot. He raised the mecha’s weapon and hacked away, pulling out a canister over a meter tall, 50 centimeters wide with a red top, a green middle, and another red bottom.

The Military leaders watched the Pado Planet government officials, hiding with their families in the modified transport ship, get loaded onto the warship. Not only will they face legal punishment, but their capture also delivers a fatal blow to the opposition. The Ministry of Justice had already started its crackdown.

“What did he grab this time?” The Military leaders were curious about the canister Yang Bo was carrying.
