Chapter Index

    PS: There’s no update today.

“Let’s not say much more, we are already partners.” The Fat Boss said with a sly grin.

“Besides, we both emigrated from Pado Planet, so we’ve been through tough times together.”

“In fact, from the first time I saw you Yang Bo, I knew you had great potential because very few residents actively seek out jobs. Those who do are not ordinary people.” The Fat Boss continued smiling.

Yang Bo nodded, “Thank you, Boss. I’ll remember your kindness.”

“No need for thanks. Next year, I’ll take you back to my family. You’re a Superhuman now, and we have many beautiful women in our family. I have an aunt who’s very pretty.” The Fat Boss chuckled.

Yang Bo looked at the Fat Boss in surprise, “Are you sure it’s your aunt and not your sister or cousin?”

“Yang Bo, with your talents, only my aunt is good enough for you. My sisters and cousins, though excellent, aren’t suitable for you.” The Fat Boss said earnestly.

Yang Bo stopped responding, feeling a bit awkward, then began preparing his second potion.

This potion took just over a minute to concoct. Yang Bo felt something might still be missing in his formula.

The energy reaction of the potion seemed just a bit off.

If the reaction were more perfect, the potion’s quality could be higher. It left him feeling a bit unsatisfied.

“Four-star quality!” The Fat Boss looked at the newly completed high-quality potion, excitement surging through him.

At the same time, he mentally prepared to make a big splash in the information field. Despite the relatively low level of these potions, most people didn’t have great talents. Offering free potions could lock people into contracts with him.

One after another, the potions kept coming. The Fat Boss eventually became numb to it, feeling as if he were dreaming. Even though he was a Gene Evolutionary, he pinched himself twice in disbelief. Nine test tubes sat in front of him, each filled with pure, transparent potions.

When the last potion was done, the Fat Boss, overcome with emotion, gave Yang Bo a hug.

“Great job. You’ve worked hard. Quick, have a drink.” The Fat Boss hurriedly helped Yang Bo out of his protective gear and eagerly handed him a bottle of drink.

“Thanks, Boss.” Yang Bo thanked him, drinking without hesitation. However, crafting potions today left him feeling as though something was still missing. But what it was, he had no idea.

“It must be due to my lack of exposure.” Yang Bo understood that his feeling stemmed from his lack of experience. With more, he’d likely understand why he felt something was incomplete.

“Yang Bo, I’m not planning to sell these potions. I’m recruiting new people to the company. How about I pay you ten times the normal price for them?” The Fat Boss proposed after cleaning up.

“Boss, you’ve been good to me already. Let’s make it five times the price. After subtracting the cost, you can just transfer my share to my account,” Yang Bo shook his head.

The Fat Boss took a seat, grabbed a drink, took a big gulp, and said, “Even ten times would’ve been a steal for me. These Gene Serum formulas are confidential. Once my company uses them, no one else will know our people’s abilities.”

“Boss, you’re shouldering the risk, so let’s stick with five times.” Yang Bo shook his head again.

Was Yang Bo short on money? Of course not. He still had plenty from his mecha battles.

In this world, power was the most important thing. As long as the Fat Boss could continuously provide him with materials to hone his skills and improve his strength while keeping him hidden, it was only natural to let him have more of the profits.

“Alright, have it your way.” The Fat Boss nodded in agreement, hearing Yang Bo’s sincere tone.

At lunch, the Fat Boss splurged, taking them to a fancy restaurant. Afterward, they returned to the company, where the Fat Boss made Yang Bo some tea. “Be careful on March Planet, especially where you live. There seems to be some unknown danger on this planet. I’m not sure if the authorities are deliberately withholding information.”

“Just a few days ago, someone went missing at sea. He was a researcher from a company and quite wealthy, but he still hasn’t been found.”

Yang Bo nodded silently while drinking his tea.

“You also need to work on improving your Superhuman ability. When concocting C-grade and above Gene Injections, you should at least have D-grade power. Otherwise, explosions during the process or the toxic side effects could overwhelm your body.”

“There was once a B-grade Superhuman who, while making an A-grade Gene Serum, got caught in an explosion. The toxic side effects nearly paralyzed him. Though he eventually recovered, his power permanently dropped to D-grade.” The Fat Boss said.

Yang Bo had suspected the higher the grade of the Gene Serum, the more dangerous the failure. The Fat Boss now confirmed it.

Yang Bo hadn’t yet decided to reveal his full abilities to the Fat Boss. After all, not much time had passed. He’d wait until the end of the year to show him, and it definitely wasn’t because he was curious about what the Fat Boss’s aunt looked like.

After finishing his tea, Yang Bo bid farewell, taking the book the Fat Boss gave him. He picked up some things at the supermarket before heading home.

“So material refinement is this complex.” Yang Bo opened the book and saw two refinement paths: one for plants and one for animals.

The goal was to eliminate excess, mixed energies in materials, leaving only the required energy. Various advanced technologies and equipment were needed first to observe the material’s internal energy structure and then refine it by balancing or neutralizing the unwanted energies.

“Thankfully, there are specific instructions in the back.” Yang Bo kept reading and found material numbers and their refinement methods.

The book contained information on over 200 animal materials and more than 40 plant materials, classified into D and E levels. There wasn’t any information about higher levels.

“Is the Fat Boss keeping things from me, or is this all he can obtain?” Yang Bo pondered but didn’t dwell on it.

He continued watching the 700-plus videos. Some materials could be refined using multiple methods.

Yang Bo watched the videos intently. The refinement process didn’t take long, with the longest method only lasting a minute and a half.

The amount of auxiliary material used depended entirely on the main material.

If too little was added, the excess energy inside the main material couldn’t be removed.

If too much, the main material would be ruined since a decline in its effective energy beyond a certain threshold meant it was useless.

“I wonder how large Gene Serum companies produce at scale? Do they use plant-based materials?”

“If they could cultivate mutant plants widely, they could mass-produce injections since the difference among plants growing under the same conditions should be minimal.”

While pondering this, Yang Bo went to the underground bunker and took out some Iron Bull’s saliva, which he had already portioned out. Originally, it had been stored in containers for energy cores.

Yang Bo put a portion of the saliva into a test tube. Then, a white light appeared from his hand. As the temperature in his hand rose, the saliva gradually began to emit a white glow inside the tube.

“Got it.” Heating was the simplest method for identifying the energy inside the material.

“From now on, I can just use my hands to control the temperature when making potions, making the process easier.” Yang Bo tested it out before putting aside the test tube and examining his hand.

Of course, he still needed practice and would have to use a thermometer for precise control while he memorized the right temperatures.

“I’ll need to be especially careful when working with high-grade Gene Injections. I’m not afraid of explosions, but the toxins could be deadly.” Yang Bo knew some toxins could even dissolve metal.

Toxins were the biggest fear of any Superhuman.

Yang Bo picked up the test tube again and resumed heating it while watching the tube’s color change.

Yang Bo focused his attention fully on the test tube, carefully observing the effects on the Iron Bull’s saliva.

“It feels like I’m entering a microscopic world again.” Slowly, the potion’s color began to change in Yang Bo’s eyes, transforming into tiny white energy particles.

However, they weren’t just white energy particles. There were also some red and black ones, though their numbers were small. The red ones made up roughly 3%, while the black ones accounted for about 1%.

“Is this the impure energy?” Yang Bo had a sudden realization.

As the heating continued, Yang Bo noticed more red particles forming. After five minutes, the black particles vanished.

The red particles now made up 8%, meaning 4% of the white particles had been converted into red energy particles.

“Are these red particles toxins or do they have some other adverse effect?” Yang Bo wondered, scrutinizing them closely.

After 15 minutes of heating, the liquid inside the tube was entirely red. The conversion of white particles to red was accelerating.

“If heat can convert white energy into red energy, isn’t there a way to reverse the red back into white?” Yang Bo stopped the heating and observed the red liquid.

“I wonder if this stuff is poisonous?” Yang Bo pondered as he examined the solution.

He decided against further experimentation, preferring to wait until the Fat Boss provided him with enough purified main and supplementary materials.

With a bit more experience, he’d try purifying the Iron Bull’s saliva. After all, the Iron Bull’s abilities and power level were no joke.

“Perhaps the red energy particles are tied to its Metal Superpower ability?”

“And the white ones are related to its strength power?” Yang Bo wondered more.

“Then what about the black energy particles?”

After pondering these thoughts, digesting what the Fat Boss had told him, and carefully observing the changes in Iron Bull’s saliva, Yang Bo felt his understanding of Gene Injections had grown significantly. His ability to observe these microscopic changes would be a huge help in future concoctions.

“Time to rest and then head inland to find a wife for Invisible Mouse.” This was something Yang Bo had planned before.

After washing up that night, Yang Bo turned on his computer, since he hadn’t yet used it today.

He first checked the local news. It warned tourists staying by the sea to avoid the ocean, as someone had recently gone missing. The missing person’s name was Robert, and his photo was plastered everywhere. It urged the public to contact the authorities if they saw him.

Next, Yang Bo browsed Alliance news. Pado Planet was celebrating a string of good news, including the release of hostages. Many Pado Planet citizens lashed out at the Red Earl’s brutal rule.

However, among the reports were calls from opposition groups to thoroughly investigate the military’s involvement. People questioned how the Red Earl had infiltrated the army in the first place.

Was corruption in the military the direct cause of this disaster? Could anyone with enough money buy their way into the ranks? There were also complaints that the military’s response had been too slow, which had resulted in tragedy.

Oppositional parties even moved to impeach the ruling party, claiming it was responsible for the crisis on Pado Planet because it had authorized upgrading its civilian defense systems to military-grade.

One politician went as far as to say that the ruling party and military had orchestrated the entire affair for their benefit.

Yang Bo found it amusing. On one hand, they chastised the military for overspending, while on the other, they criticized them for acting too slowly.

That was just how politics worked. If you were in power, others would oppose you. If they were in power, you’d oppose them. In the end, it was all about who could manipulate public opinion to get more votes and claim victory.

Some people even moved to impeach the commanding officer responsible for destroying the five warships controlled by the Extremist Organization. Apparently, there were casualties and property damage among those on board.

They called for a thorough investigation, speculating that most of the soldiers on those ships had been coerced and were innocent victims.

“Enough of this.” Yang Bo muttered, feeling like he was reading a parody. In warfare, there was always loss of life. Even if you wanted to investigate, how could you identify who was an extremist and who wasn’t at that time?

Yang Bo came across a less prominent report stating that Four Seas Pharmaceutical Company on Pado Planet had been labeled a collaborator and its employees were now fugitives.

Immediately, Yang Bo understood why those people had given him the Gene Mastery skill—they had all worked for that company.

“I wonder if the Fat Boss’s company has any tasks involving the cleanup of Gene Serum companies? If so, it’d be a great chance to upgrade my Gene Mastery skill!” Yang Bo had another idea in mind.
