Chapter Index

Yang Bo couldn’t figure it out no matter how much he thought about it, so he repeated the experiment several times.

“Could it be the skill limit?” Yang Bo knew his body was trash and could only improve skills by killing opponents.

If his body had enough talent, his skills should have improved during training.

    “It’s very likely!”

Since the experiment didn’t work, Yang Bo set it aside and began practicing psychic locking.

“The fortress is still too small.” Within 200 meters around him, fireballs could hit anywhere.

Yang Bo cautiously tested changing the shape of the fireball. Under psychic control, the fireball could transform into a cone shape, or even resemble a bird.

“Fire energy attacks are slow, and their power can’t compare to electrical abilities.” The rest of the day, he continued practicing fire energy.

Condensing light energy into a ball, he shot it towards a target 100 meters away. The target was immediately pierced, and Yang Bo nodded, satisfied.

The target’s defense was comparable to standard mecha defense, of course without an energy shield.

He then practiced Electric Power attacks, and finally sound wave attacks.

“Sound wave attacks are stealthy, but if an opponent has armored protection or a higher energy level, they’re not that effective.”

“Sound wave control is better for detection than direct attacks.” Yang Bo had already tested this on Green Demon Planet.

For powerful mutant beasts, sound wave attacks had limited effect because their bodies also contained energy.

Take Gene Evolutionists as an example— the head is their weakness, but it’s only relatively weaker compared to the rest of the body.

The head of an A-rank Evolutionist has higher defense than a C-rank Evolutionist’s head.

Moreover, with sound wave attacks and scanning, if the speed exceeds the wave’s transmission speed, energy fluctuations will be detected.

In other words, when using Sonic Detection in different environments, the speed of transmission can’t exceed the sound wave’s speed in that environment.

Once that speed is exceeded, equipment will detect it.

Even so, sound wave attacks remain highly sudden. You just need to time them right, and they’re very effective for reconnaissance—comparable to radar imaging.

After training, Yang Bo went to feed his pets. The sand mice were still timid, peeking at him every time he came to feed them.

The Invisible Mice were no longer afraid of him, but Yang Bo wasn’t ready to touch them yet.

“I wonder if they can be cloned. If I clone these Invisible Mice into small mice, I could eliminate hundreds or thousands of them in one go.” Yang Bo pondered, staring at them.

He headed to the upper room to cook and enjoy the storm.

Then, he went to the room specifically for accessing the internet. His wristwatch only had an external signal in this room, so Yang Bo always left it here, unlike when he trained in the Underground Bunker.

He looked at the wristwatch and saw a message from the Fat Boss inviting him into a mecha game.

“Boss?” Yang Bo decided to call the Fat Boss. Although he wasn’t happy with the team’s approach, it was the only issue.

Yang Bo wasn’t afraid of anyone discovering his mecha style because he didn’t have one.

And if anyone thought his mecha abilities were strong enough, then he’d give them a harsh lesson.

More importantly, no one knew much about him. As for the Military, Yang Bo wasn’t worried because the game was developed to train more Mecha Pilots.

Unless a war broke out and Yang Bo was forcibly drafted, they might dig into his information.

“Did you join the mecha game yet?” The Fat Boss answered Yang Bo’s call and asked.

“Boss, I just finished the stuff in the box you gave me.” Yang Bo didn’t directly mention the Gene Serum materials over the phone, in case sensitive words were picked up by the authorities.

“That’s good, that’s good. I’m a bit bored playing alone in the game. How about you give it a try? Last week I earned over 800,000 credit points in a day!” The Fat Boss eagerly invited from the other end.

“I’m resting today. I’ll check out the game tomorrow. Is it really that profitable?”

“It definitely is. But there are many idiots too. A few days ago, we ran into…” The Fat Boss recounted a recent incident.

“There are clueless idiots everywhere. I already left the team and deleted my account, then made a new one. It was frustrating.” The Fat Boss continued to vent.

“By the way, if you join the game, just keep an eye out for…” The Fat Boss explained some things to watch out for in the game.

“Boss, if the game is that risky, why would you play a game where you could go bankrupt at any moment?” Yang Bo asked, pretending to be curious.

“Part of it is the high profit. The other part is how realistic the game is. Do you know how much a basic mecha class costs? A beginner class costs 10,000 credit points; intermediate is 30,000; advanced is 50,000.

“Before the mecha game, using a real mecha simulator by the hour varied by model, with the cheapest at 2,000 credit points for an hour, and the highest at 50,000.

“Controlling a real mecha costs even more.

“However, with such a large investment, a professional Mecha Pilot never has to worry about food or drink for the rest of their life!”

“Because in war, mechas capture extremely valuable strategic resources, so Mecha Pilots have a high status.”

“It may seem unreasonable, but compared to simulator training, it’s far cheaper, and mechas are tough to damage if you’re careful.”

“Of course, there are players who don’t believe the game officials. They rent a place outside to play and end up wrecking the mecha, switching homes after, and get sued by the game company.”

“It’s no different than how it was centuries ago. Judicial agencies can investigate anything quickly.”

“So even if your mecha gets damaged and you can’t afford repairs, you can arrange a payment plan with the game officials—just don’t take chances.” The Fat Boss rambled.

“Boss, I don’t think I’ll join the game. It’s just not for me. Besides, the repair costs you mentioned for mechas are ridiculously high.” Yang Bo replied, declining.

“Yes, my mecha’s repairs were expensive, but I earned over 800,000 credit points.” The Fat Boss continued to dangle the carrot.

“Boss, that was because you got lucky and someone saved you. If your mecha had broken down, how much would that have cost? I’ll just stick to what I’m good at.” Yang Bo had no intention of revealing his mecha skills to the Fat Boss.

After all, they were simply business partners, and he’d never let anyone know he could pilot a mecha.

Even if his Superhuman abilities were exposed, his mecha piloting skills must remain hidden.

Compared to that, Superhumans weren’t as powerful as mechas.

If anyone saw his mecha, they’d end up dead.

The Fat Boss, having no counterargument, relented. “Alright, I’ve ordered some things online. When the storm passes, they should arrive.”

“Alright.” Yang Bo ended the call and checked the game forum.

“Most players have decent values.” Watching the Fat Boss’s small team get trashed online made Yang Bo feel very satisfied.

Some people just forget how they were once insulted online.

Then, Yang Bo found a thread specifically targeting him.

    “Bird Slasher is a turtle.”

“Bird Slasher is too scared to come out!” This post was made by the Justice Gang, accusing Yang Bo of hiding like a turtle and calling for clues to find him.

“Better hope I don’t find out who you are in real life. Otherwise, I’ll make you regret it.” Yang Bo recorded the voices of the people who had insulted him. He’d recognize them if he ever heard them in real life.

But for now, Yang Bo wasn’t going to confront them. He wasn’t that stupid. He just reported all the foul-mouthed posts one by one.

Yang Bo knew these rich players were undoubtedly frustrated after he had tricked them. Thinking about how they’d essentially fed their mechas to Iron Bull made him all the more pleased.

“You guys can act arrogant all you want. Once I’m done dealing with other things, I’ll be back to mess with you.” He shut down the mecha game.

Yang Bo checked the news and saw a report about Green Demon Planet gaining autonomy, which announced its addition as an Capital Star in the Alliance.

However, since the planet was newly developed, all information was classified.

Then the news covered various other topics: a mining accident on a Mining Planet killed three workers and caused billions in property damage.

Another report mentioned a spaceship that exceeded radiation limits when entering a port, leading to the destruction of its entire cargo and the ship itself.

It also discussed Pado Planet’s investigation into officials involved in the rebellion. The Administrator of Pado Planet was accused of colluding with pirates to attack civilian ships, among other things.

Pado Planet’s Minister of Finance was exposed for colluding with other companies for embezzlement.

The Gene Serum Company was discovered to include members of the Red Earl’s Extremist Organization.

Dimension Company announced they would have major news in a month.

“That company is still impressive.” Yang Bo researched the company and found that they were just a small firm modifying mechas.

After the Red Earl incident, their reputation quickly tanked.

Their space mecha product launch was a disaster.

The space mecha had a significant flaw—someone stole the space button and the mecha along with it. The worst part was there was no trace of how it was stolen.

Even if it were retrieved, a new problem remained: what if someone used the mecha to cause serious harm? How could that be handled? The insurance company certainly wouldn’t cover it.

Nobody would want to spend a fortune on a space mecha only to have it stolen, with no trace of it left.

After all, it’s not a cheap item. It’s one thing to lose something of little value, but this was too much.

Personal security wouldn’t be as strong as at the launch event.

Still, Dimension Company’s space development technology remained highly valued. After the incident, several major companies scooped up shares amidst the dropping stock prices.

Big names like Ping’an Technology Company and Anbang Bank scooped them up.

“Are they going to release storage equipment?” Yang Bo wondered when he saw the news.

“There has to be some genius at that company. I need to find a way to meet them.” Yang Bo suspected there was a top expert hidden there, someone who was probably an authority in space research.

After reading the news, he went to sleep. The next day, he spent the entire day training in the basement.

The focus this time was anti-gravity training. Yang Bo applied anti-gravity to himself, allowing him to fly at high speeds in all directions within the basement.

“Superman!” This also tested his nerve reflexes and control over his superpowers. If he wasn’t careful, he could easily kill himself.

At first, Yang Bo’s speed wasn’t very fast, but he gradually picked up speed.

“Wearing Energy Suit and wielding energy weapons, under high-speed anti-Gravity Mastery, my combat power is significant.” Yang Bo had just managed to break the sound barrier within the confined space.

In the Underground World on Green Demon Planet, Yang Bo had pushed his anti-gravity movement to reach speeds up to Mach 5. He’d needed armor protection and ample space to achieve that.

This small basement clearly wasn’t enough— the space was just too limited.

“Maybe I should find a chance to check out space?” Yang Bo considered using his anti-gravity abilities to send himself into space.

Yang Bo also trained in applying anti-gravity to other objects. The simplest example involved controlling any object within 100 meters and applying anti-gravity in different directions.

“This will be a great skill to use in future fights. Even if an opponent has superpowers that can cancel out some of mine, it’ll still affect them.”

“If I can someday use anti-gravity to send a mecha into space, that would be amazing.” Yang Bo fantasized as he trained.

“If I don’t like someone, I could just give them a push with anti-gravity and watch them smash into a wall and die.” Yang Bo thought sinisterly.

After today’s training, Yang Bo went to bed early, mentally exhausted after using his superpowers all day.

Upon waking, he washed up, fed his pets in the basement, and got ready to try out a crawler mecha in the game.

“Boss?” Yang Bo checked the wristwatch and saw two emails from the Fat Boss.

“Got a big mission. You in?” The Fat Boss said over the phone.

“What kind of big mission?” Yang Bo asked.

“It’s a rescue and clearing mission requiring a team of at least five residents. I’ll personally lead. But anyone with a biochip can’t participate,” The Fat Boss explained.
