Chapter 225: Micro Mecha Drones
by xennovelYang Bo fled in a panic. These small self-destruct drones weren’t widely used, especially since their high production costs made them suitable only for special environments.
If the opponent had an electromagnetic bomb, these micro drones would be completely useless.
Electromagnetic bombs were inexpensive, and only large drones or large mechas had any ability to resist them.
Also, the crevice in the mountain where Yang Bo found himself was sturdier compared to the other two entrances—one was too narrow, and the other had already collapsed.
“Self-destruct drones incoming!” Yang Bo shouted into the communication channel as he ran.
“Third Master, hurry! We’ve got electromagnetic bombs!” the President of the Bounty Hunter Guild called out through the channel.
Yang Bo was fast, but the drones behind him followed close.
Just as Yang Bo reached the third defense line, he saw members of the Bounty Hunter Guild in the distance throw a fist-sized bomb.
Then came a massive ground tremor, followed by dust explosions.
But the air here was thin, so the dust dispersed quickly and fell like sand.
“These Anti-Government Fighters are really going all out. These drones must cost at least 300,000 credits each,” commented the President of the Bounty Hunter Guild over the channel.
Yang Bo nodded. In low-gravity, thin-air conditions like these, you’d need specially made drones. It wasn’t like other habitable planets, where there was air to act as a carrier.
“I wonder if the Bounty Hunter Guild has any specific intel on these drones.” Yang Bo realized his knowledge of this world was still fragmented and lacking.
“The drones are just a diversion. There will definitely be people following, maybe even heavy equipment,” someone said over the communication channel.
“Are these guys crazy? They’ve got at least a few hundred drones. How many credits is that?”
“Is there some secret in the mines?”
“Probably not. We’ve been here for so long, and we haven’t found anything strange.”
Hearing this, Yang Bo also found it odd. What kind of intel had these Anti-Government Fighters received to make them come here?
“Everyone, follow my orders. The Anti-Government Fighters will likely deploy heavy-firepower robots next. Be mentally prepared,” ordered the President through the communications.
Everyone’s eyes turned to Yang Bo. Yang Bo didn’t disappoint and said into the channel, “If they dare to come in, I’ll go around through the mine’s front entrance and hit them from behind.”
Hearing Yang Bo speak, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Someone cursed, “Those anti-government scum have no humanity, no respect for human rights. Once we get back, we’re exposing this.”
“Yeah, they dared to use self-destruct drones.”
“These guys must be desperate to use such measures.”
“Those anti-government types are shameless. They go online claiming the Alliance is oppressing and exploiting citizens.”
Yang Bo was speechless about this society. The agreements between the three countries were laughable in some ways.
For instance, all three countries talked about human rights, but who really cared behind the scenes?
The Anti-Government Fighters were actually supported by the other two nations. Sometimes, in conflicts, these countries would even issue statements expressing support for the Anti-Government Fighters. Worse, if the Alliance acted too harshly, those nations would criticize it in the name of human rights.
Of course, when the Anti-Government Fighters in those countries got hit hard, the Alliance would also step in and talk nonsense under the same pretense.
The commander of the Anti-Government Fighters hadn’t anticipated the presence of electromagnetic bombs, losing hundreds of their self-destruct drones in one blow.
His face was as sour as it could get. What was left of the drones temporarily stayed outside the mountain crevice.
They were waiting for the special forces teams and unmanned combat equipment to arrive, then they’d move together.
The commander kept replaying recordings but couldn’t figure out how the first modified captain died. Even the captain’s four teammates didn’t expect him to fall so quickly.
“Good heavens.” Yang Bo, the President of the Bounty Hunter Guild, and a few others sneakily scouted outside the mountain crevices.
Seeing over a thousand self-destruct drones outside left everyone exchanging uneasy looks.
In the distance, dozens of mecha drones appeared. These spider-shaped mechas each had a laser cannon in the middle.
Two squads of cyborgs could also be seen. These people wore no protective gear except for some shielding on their heads and torsos, with silver-white metal visible on their bodies and legs.
“14 cyborgs. If each is worth 8 points, that’s 112 points! And their modified weapons are also valuable,” Yang Bo said, still looking for weapons that could increase his current combat strength.
The recently acquired high-voltage electric hammer gave Yang Bo a new idea. He used to only focus on energy weapons, not realizing how effective high-tech weapons could be.
Plus, with the surging energy in his body, he could use this tech to great effect.
“The Anti-Government Fighters are really sparing no expense this time.”
“Third Master, don’t destroy the mecha drones if you can help it. Lots of people would be interested in those.”
“These should be auxiliary micro mechas developed by the Azure Blue Empire. Each soldier carries a certain number of these mechas to assist in combat.”
“It’s not just crawler-type mecha drones. They’ve got all kinds of types,” commented the President of the Bounty Hunter Guild.
Yang Bo nodded without saying anything. High-tech warfare was brutal. There were countless varieties of mecha drones and unmanned warplanes.
During the Pado Planet insurgency, Yang Bo estimated there were at least 10,000 drones on the warships, not to mention all the drone fighters.
But the Alliance had all sorts of ridiculous regulations, so war often came with a lot of restrictions.
After witnessing all this, Yang Bo and his group quickly retreated. Individual prowess was nothing against the might of advanced machinery and technology.
“President, do you think the Anti-Government Fighters might send tens of thousands of drones to attack us?” someone from the Bounty Hunter Guild asked.
Yang Bo perked up at that question. Often, as a high-ranking figure, he couldn’t ask too many things directly.
“That’s highly unlikely. What’s the purpose of war? It’s about resources, isn’t it?”
“Plus, these specialized drones for such environments are incredibly costly and require loads of rare materials.”
“The other side is just probing us because they’re not sure if sending so many drones will secure the mine.”
“Deploying all their mecha drones, cyborgs, and self-destruct drones at once would be risky if they still didn’t succeed.”
“Still, we need to stay alert. Some anti-government units are full of lunatics. They’ve used all kinds of internationally banned weapons before, like high-radiation devices.” The President warned everyone to remain cautious.
“Self-destruct drones incoming! They’re sending out about ten at a time, clearly trying to exhaust our electromagnetic bombs,” shouted a watchman over the communication channel.
“Don’t be too eager to use the electromagnetic bombs. Start with the laser guns,” the President hurriedly commanded.
Drones and mecha drones’ biggest weakness was electromagnetic bombs. These bombs were specifically designed to target them.
The powerful electromagnetic waves would instantly disrupt and destroy the energy systems of the drones and mechas.
And electromagnetic bombs were a lot cheaper than drones or mecha drones.
That’s why personal armor always included helmets—some electromagnetic bombs could severely interfere with and harm people’s brains.
Yang Bo picked up a laser gun and began firing. TThe laser gun had one major drawbback—it relied on batteries.
Once the battery was out of power, the laser gun was nothing but a uuseless piece of metal.
“I’ll circle around through the mine’s front entrance,” Yang Bo said, feeling the time was right. The cyborgs should have entered the cave by now.
“Be careful, Third Master,” the President warned.
“Maybe I should seduce the President, then I could get all the info I want,” a thought popped into Yang Bo’s head. But then he shuddered, remembering how the President could sometimes turn into a man.
If they ended up sleeping together and the President transformed into a man during the night, that would be horrifying.
The Anti-Government Fighters had concentrated most of their strength on the mountain crevice because this route led directly to the deepest part of the mine.
Also, this entrance hadn’t collapsed and provided plenty of space.
The fighting at the mine’s main entrance was fierce, with the Anti-Government Fighters using all kinds of modified high-powered laser guns and cannons, forcing the third-party forces into retreat.
Additionally, their auxiliary mecha drones had much more energy than standard laser gun batteries..
“What are you doing?” As soon as Yang Bo appeared, the third-party commander shouted at him.
But when the commander realized Yang Bo wore a full set of armor, he took a few frightened steps back.
“Useless bunch!” Yang Bo spat over the public channel.
There were dozens of people in the third-party forces, but no one dared talk back to Yang Bo after hearing those words.
It was as if they hadn’t heard anything. Each person quietly continued with their tasks.
This guy was someone who once single-handedly hijacked a warplane—no normal person would ever do something like that. It’d be unwise to mess with him.
“Are there any cyborgs here?” Yang Bo was concerned about that detail.
“Yes, around ten cyborgs. These guys are incredibly arrogant, taunting us over the public channel.”
“They’ve got about 200 drones, including recon, signal relays, and self-destruct drones.”
“And roughly 20 micro mechas. We’ve used electromagnetic bombs to destroy five of their micro mechas and around 25 drones, forcing them to be more cautious in their attacks,” the third-party commander reported.
“I get first pick of the loot. Any objections?” Yang Bo asked over the public channel.
