Chapter 234: Five Seconds
by xennovelThe Mecha Pilot from the Bounty Hunter Guild controlling the mecha quickly opened the cockpit and jumped out.
Yang Bo then jumped into the cockpit, and after gaining control, he maneuvered the mecha backwards, retreating a long distance.
Seven or eight Bounty Hunter Guild Mecha Pilots watched Yang Bo control the mecha as it retreated, their eyes glued to the scene.
Then, in the next second, they felt an enormous energy rippling as Yang Bo piloted the mecha at over Mach 12 from the depths of the cave, shooting outward.
“Mach 12!” Someone exclaimed in the Bounty Hunter Guild’s channel, and seven or eight people quickly peeked out to look.
By this time, seven out of ten mechas in the distance had already collided into a rolling heap.
How did this happen? These seven or eight people didn’t actually see it.
The three remaining mechas standing were currently firing their laser cannons towards the left.
Clearly, Yang Bo was in that direction, but in the next second, Yang Bo’s mecha appeared in their vision, holding an energy shield in one hand and a mecha weapon in the other.
The three standing mechas immediately dodged aside, scattering. Don’t rush. The seven mechas that had been rolling on the ground—two of them had just gotten up before they were sliced in half by a massive mecha weapon.
Several of the Bounty Hunter Guild’s Mecha Pilots gasped. “Mach 15!”
The thing limiting a mecha’s speed wasn’t the mecha itself, but the pilot inside.
At Mach 15, when your mecha crashes toward another, if only the weapon of the mecha connects, the enemy mecha gets sliced in half.
But if you miscalculate and your mecha collides with the enemy mecha, sorry, but most likely, both mechas will be destroyed. The odds of the pilots surviving are 0.01%.
At that point, it’s all about predictive ability. You need to predict that the opponent won’t become your collision target.
Moreover, in mecha combat, pilots generally don’t swing their weapons. Just like a cavalry charge, the cavalrymen don’t need to swing their weapons. Merely holding the weapon while the speed of the horse makes it a terrifying killing instrument.
At Mach 15, slicing two mechas in half with a single strike requires incredible predictive capability, alongside absurdly fast nerve reflexes and control speeds.
These people quickly realized that as Yang Bo was charging, his mecha was making minute adjustments.
At such high speed, the reaction time available is tiny, like driving a car at high velocity—any large steering adjustment would be disastrous.
At Mach 15, if the mecha’s angle deviates slightly, it would have an intimate collision with the cave walls.
“How is it happening again?” The seven or eight mecha pilots in the cave had just arrived and were gasping for air when they noticed Yang Bo’s mecha had somehow returned.
This was Mach 15! Changing direction at such high speed was viewed as impossible by these people.
At this point, four mechas on the ground were immobilized, and in an instant, two more were sliced into halves.
The seven or eight mecha pilots inside the cave could even see Yang Bo’s mecha reverse its energy shield to block the laser attacks of the three standing mechas.
“Is he an ace Mecha Pilot? Those two mechas he sliced weren’t even in a straight line!” Cold sweat broke out on the seven or eight people as they witnessed the scene.
“I’m more interested in how Third Master managed to change direction at Mach 15 within one second.”
“If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, and someone told me about it, I would have slapped them!”
“Incredible!”
“What’s wrong with those cyborgs? They’re charging towards us?”
“Guess they’ve been scared senseless!”
The three cyborgs who had been hiding inside the warplane were now so frightened that they were rolling around in panic, all their usual bravado gone.
Just moments ago, a mecha burst out of the cave at blistering speed, not only severing two mechas mid-air but, in an instant, also knocking five other mechas to the ground—somehow.
The three watched, wide-eyed, as Yang Bo’s mecha darted off to one side. At that same moment, the laser cannons from the three standing mechas finally fired.
The three then saw Yang Bo streak several kilometers away in a wide arc before flipping 100 meters in the air and charging back.
Two more mechas were instantly sliced apart.
Then, with more complex maneuvers, Yang Bo’s mecha consistently blocked the barrage of laser cannon attacks with its energy shield.
The three cyborgs immediately fled, even abandoning their laser guns. The only place left to run was the cave entrance, even though they knew their enemies were inside.
But facing the enemies is better than dealing with this kind of monster.
“We surrender! We surrender!”
“We surrender! We’ve already dropped our weapons!” The three cyborgs yelled over the public channel as they rushed toward the cave.
As soon as they emerged, they were quick to kneel and beg for mercy. The only thing in their minds was the sight of the mechs being torn apart and the blood spraying from inside. Here, in this thin atmosphere, the pressure inside a human body causes the blood to spray out instantaneously.
The terrifyingness of that scene left all three shaking uncontrollably, not just once but repeatedly.
At this moment, Yang Bo wasn’t even paying attention to the cyborgs. His focus was on the fact that his mecha had been running full power for nearly five minutes, and after five minutes, the energy system would need to stop and cool down.
This was where Yang Bo’s training in the Underground Bunker came in handy. Inside the fortress, Yang Bo had once dared to operate a mecha at several Mach in straight line sprints.
Although the canyon’s terrain was narrow compared to others, it was wide enough for Yang Bo.
Out of the ten mechas, six were already down. The remaining four were retreating.
The last four mechas activated their jetpacks all at once, dispersing into the sky.
This time, Yang Bo couldn’t do anything. The enemy had fully activated their jetpacks, soaring into the sky at maximum power.
“Why are you running?!” Yang Bo shouted over the channel.
Several Mecha Pilots inside the cave looked at the kneeling cyborgs, feeling like they were in a dream. Cyborgs were Iron-Clads of the Anti-Government Fighters. They never surrendered, often choosing to self-destruct. Catching a living cyborg was extremely difficult due to their half-mechanical nature and the intense brainwashing they underwent.
“We’re giving the mecha back to you.” In the next second, the mecha stopped in front of them.
The cockpit opened, and the man inside jumped out immediately.
“Five seconds, six mechas!” The few Mecha Pilots from the Bounty Hunter Guild exchanged glances. Even for an ace pilot, this kind of performance was unheard of.
But when one of the Mecha Pilots jumped into the mecha, all they could hear was the cockpit alarm blaring. A closer look revealed the mecha was heavily damaged in all areas, clearly the result of overloading.
The others ran to the cave entrance to look out and saw a distant warplane closing its hatch.
“What is that?!” Just then, they looked up to the void and saw countless lights appear in the black sky, where three warships were firing at each other.
Sorry about the delay, I’ll post an extra chapter when I’m ready.
