Chapter Index

The mecha shot into the sky. Yang Bo felt something was off. Most animals eat their own kind’s corpses, not just fish, even chickens, pigs, etc.

These animals were stimulated by the blood. They only knew to eat, eat, eat. Even if this was an alien planet, some high-intelligence fish might recognize danger, but what about the rest? “Sonic Waves?” Yang Bo hovered mid-air, his Jetpack keeping the mecha suspended as he observed the fish on the radar. It seemed like some other creature was driving them. He could hear strange noises.

However, the mecha didn’t detect any threat. But from the formation of the swimming fish, it was clear they were being driven.

Using sonic waves to attract and drive fish? Some sea creatures can indeed do such things.

“Whoever you are, messing with an angler’s spot? You’re dead.” Yang Bo was furious, but he didn’t act impulsively.

Yang Bo listened carefully, flying in a wide circle in the air until he roughly pinpointed where the strange sounds were coming from.

The Jetpack powered up again. This time, Yang Bo flew straight into the skies, reaching an altitude of 10,000 meters. He took out a shockwave bomb, set the timer, and then had his mecha dive straight down. The Jetpack accelerated and accelerated.

Mach 3. Mach 4. Mach 5. Mach 6. Staring at the approaching lake, Yang Bo threw the bomb.

The mecha performed a graceful U-turn and ascended back to the skies. The Jetpack ensured flight, but it wasn’t suitable for prolonged aerial combat.

The shock bomb, traveling at Mach 6, crashed into the lake, causing only a tiny splash.

Boom! In the next second, a tremor ran through the waters beneath the lake.

Boom! Then, a water column tens of meters high shot up.

    Sonic Control +8!

    Sonic Control +8!

    Sonic Control +8!

Four consecutive boosts to Sonic Control, followed by a Swimming +1! Other messages included Camouflage upgrades and more.

“There’s actually a mutant or hostile target?” Yang Bo had only been guessing, but now it was confirmed. And they were at least C-level.

Yang Bo didn’t know this at the time, but the General in the underground space had lost track because his surveillance bird had been slapped to death. The General had no idea Yang Bo dropped a bomb from high up. Even if he knew, it’d be too late.

Watching the fish group gather again toward the dead fish, Yang Bo pondered buying more shockwave bombs.

Buy! Yang Bo immediately placed an order in the game store, purchasing five bombs for 50,000 game coins, with an additional 10,000 for delivery. Yes, the delivery came directly to your location, and the farther from the base, the steeper the price.

Five minutes later, the delivery from the base arrived. It was a spaceplane, capable of flying all the way from the planet into space, a key piece of weaponry in the planetary wars, just like mecha.

As the fish gathered, Yang Bo flew high. Locking onto a massive school of fish, he dropped the shockwave bombs.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Five bombs dropped at once, and Yang Bo turned and left immediately.

He had just killed several C-level individuals at least. Why would he hang around? Who knows what kind of B-level adversary might jump out of the lake like the one he encountered yesterday? If his mecha got wrecked again, he’d be paying for it himself.

“Damn it! Damn it! These cunning Federation scum! Issue an A-level kill order!” In the underground space, General Tigerface, furious after hearing about the hunting team’s heavy losses—four dead, four critically injured—roared angrily.

No wonder General Tigerface was so enraged. Yang Bo had incinerated a B-level infiltrator, causing the bio-mecha to fall into enemy hands, which forced their side to start developing a new model.

And then, there was that bird, one of the most advanced pieces of biotech.

The mutant hunting squad possessed the sonic capabilities, making them invaluable for both war and other operations. General Tigerface couldn’t believe it: if Yang Bo kept causing trouble, who knows what would happen next?

Yang Bo was feeling pretty pleased. After returning, he had handed over the bird’s corpse and received 300,000 game coins. It was said to be a new biological reconnaissance device created by the enemy.

After fully recharging himself, Yang Bo turned his attention back to his skills.

Swimming: Grandmaster (Speed in liquids +300%, Permanent underwater breathing ability, Underwater attack power +120%)

Flight: Master (1402/10000) Camouflage: Advanced (321/1000) Sonic Control: Intermediate (55/100)

    Dynamic Vision: Master (4032/10000)

    Thermal Imaging Vision: Advanced (301/1000)

Electric Power Control: Advanced (112/1000) Light Energy Control: Beginner (4/10)

    Mecha Piloting: Beginner (8/10)

    Invisibility: Intermediate (16/100)

Slap: Advanced (134/1000) “So, the ultimate tier for skills is Grandmaster. That’s five tiers total.”

“But this Swimming Grandmaster ability… isn’t it a bit useless? Not much of an advantage.” Yang Bo shook his head as he examined the Swimming Grandmaster ability.

However, the experiment had been a total success. It had only been a few days.

“Sonic Location is gone, replaced by Sonic Control.”

“Tomorrow, I’ll download a martial arts training software.” Yang Bo glanced at his hand—his stainless steel spoon bent in his grip like soft noodles.

He didn’t dare to train in a physical martial arts gym; it would give him away.

The next day at the company, Yang Bo was called into the office by Liu Zhijie: “Yang Bo, our company received a big project, and Li Aidu is coming here for a concert.”

“Many large companies are using this opportunity to showcase their products. Our company has received some orders as well,” Liu Zhijie explained.

Somewhat perplexed, Yang Bo asked, “Shouldn’t robots be used for this?”

“Yang Bo, let me tell you something. To this day, the most important human records are still kept on paper, not digital.”

“At this exhibition, many high-tech companies will be showing off cutting-edge products. Who dares use robots? It’s possible these robots might carry hidden reconnaissance tech, and even Gene Evolvers possess many remarkable abilities. Some can see through things, like with X-ray vision, exposing their competitors’ tech.”

“That’s why large exhibitions like this have a security zone. Outside the zone, it’s not a problem. Inside, though, we need actual people guarding it. The only thing the guard needs to do is stop anyone from crossing the line, and if they do, sound the alarm.”

Liu Zhijie’s explanation left Yang Bo a bit stunned: “Boss, are there really Gene Evolvers like that?”

“Of course there are. Check the records of the biggest heist in history. A Gene Evolver was able to touch the latest air-space fighter and gain full access from a single brush. He then flew off with it, and no one knows where to this day.”

“It’s not just you. We’re also bringing in personnel from other subsidiaries. Here’s a software package for you to study over the next few days. If you pass the assessment, you’ll be assigned to this task. The pay is 2,000 credits per day, with triple pay for overtime and holidays.” Liu Zhijie handed Yang Bo a card.

“Boss, I heard some people talking about mutants on the bus yesterday. What’s that all about?” Yang Bo asked curiously as he took the card.
