Chapter Index

After some gestures and introductions, Yang Bo finally understood. It was similar to unlocking the collar earlier; the hair in this person’s hand was from a mutated animal.

The place this person had found was equipped with a sensory device, which collected data for the energy and control systems.

Fully automated equipment works like this—it requires a lot of data, all gathered from various sensor devices.

The intelligent system uses those sensors to understand what state the warplane is in and then makes the next move accordingly.

It’s like buying an electric car on Earth. Sometimes the sensor malfunctions, showing someone in front even though there’s no one and the vehicle just stays still.

That’s a sensor malfunction. The structure of the warplane is similar; it’s like how everyone has arms, legs, and a head, and despite minor differences, our bodies are mostly the same.

No matter how the internal design changes, a warplane needs a set of sensory systems.

This person’s task was to use the mutated animal hair to damage the sensory system.

The hair was so thin that the warplane’s surface sensor couldn’t detect the armor being pierced.

“It’s like acupuncture for the warplane?” Yang Bo finally got it. The thin hair pierced the warplane’s outer shell to destroy the sensor inside.

Normally, damaging the outer surface would trigger a reaction from the warplane’s intelligent system, but with the ultra-thin hair, it’s undetectable, like receiving a silver needle with no blood and no pain.

“This is pure technical skill.” Upon hearing this, Yang Bo knew right away that the method was entirely technical. The key wasn’t unlocking but knowing what sensor to damage in the exact spot. Not just anyone could do it. You had to know the warplane’s structure inside out.

The person quickly disabled two parts of the warplane, and an inspection hatch opened on its belly with a pop.

He jabbed at a spot inside this hatch, and the warplane’s door opened.

They entered the interior of the warplane, fiddling with something. Soon, the warplane switched to manual control. Although the intelligent system was still functional, the data from the sensors misled the system into making incorrect judgments.

“Now, the next step is crucial. We need to incapacitate the intelligent system completely and paralyze the warplane’s central AI system.”

“Every warplane has two systems. Most of the time, it’s the mechanical system and the central AI. The mechanical system only activates once the AI is destroyed.” He continued fiddling around inside.

Yang Bo and the others were surprised to learn that the warplane’s central AI isn’t even in the cockpit—it’s located further back.

“Alright, the rest is in the pilot’s hands. Purely mechanical control of a warplane is extremely difficult, but that’s not my problem.” He spread his hands, and then Bounty Hunter Guild members came inside to start manipulating the warplane.

“Who wants to give it a shot? Try it on this spot.” He then led them to the last warplane, holding up the hair in his hand.

“I’ll do it.” Zhou Zheng, confident that he had memorized the steps, immediately volunteered.

“The warplane’s structure doesn’t change much. Any structural modification requires special customization. The internal energy and control systems are optimized, so they don’t change either.”

“The sensors’ positions definitely don’t change. The sensor placement is carefully calculated. If you move one, the others must also be adjusted.” The man instructing Yang Bo and the others continued.

“Later, I’ll provide some detailed information. I’ll explain how to identify the warplane’s model and the steps for unlocking it. But remember, the key is to master the hands-on technique.”

“This spot shouldn’t cause too much trouble even if you make a mistake. You each get two minutes. Let’s go!” He pointed to a spot on the warplane.

Zhou Zheng took the mutated beast hair and jabbed hard. Unfortunately, it didn’t penetrate. While he had the correct spot, the hair went soft halfway through, and his hand slammed into the warplane’s surface. He winced in pain.

After a few more failed attempts, he gave up.

“This is hard. I need more practice.” Zhou Zheng rubbed his sore hand.

“It does take practice, but talent is also important. This mutated animal hair isn’t cheap. However, since this is a transaction, I’ll give each of you one.” The instructor generously handed each of them a hair.

He pulled out a 30-centimeter-long piece of mutated animal hair and handed it to the others.

Yang Bo examined the hair. It was as thin as human hair but silver in color, somewhat flexible, with golden tips.

Hank grabbed his piece, pinched it, and straightened it completely before jabbing at the warplane.

The material of the hair was quite odd. It easily pierced the warplane’s outer shell.

Hank attempted over a dozen times but achieved only partial success, reaching no deeper than about ten centimeters.

The warplane’s shell was nearly twenty centimeters thick, which explained why it was so tough to destroy it from the outside.

Wu Bing also failed to achieve results. Two minutes passed, and his hand swelled up.

When Yang Bo’s turn came, Zhou Zheng said, “Yang Bo has some experience. His chances of success are high!”

“This seems too difficult for me.” Wu Bing shook his head.

Superhumans tend to learn quickly due to their enhanced memory and excellent body control.

These three were starting to feel duped. This unlocking method was so complex that learning it would be useless if a new warplane model ever came out.

But the other person had unlocked it right in front of them, so accusing him of deceit didn’t sit well.

Regardless, they kept a good attitude. After all, this was a warplane. If it were so easy to unlock, the whole world would be full of people capable of doing it.

Yang Bo had heard the instructions dozens of times and knew exactly where to insert the hair and how deep it should go.

As they watched, Yang Bo gently flicked his wrist, and the mutated animal hair slipped into place with ease.

    “Impressive!”

    “Amazing!”

“Seeing Yang Bo work makes me feel like I can do it, too!” His three companions were stunned, having tried it themselves.

“Not bad, not bad!” The instructor was also full of praise for Yang Bo, though he was actually shocked inside.

It was like watching a nurse perform acupuncture for the first time—absolutely jaw-dropping.

Yang Bo smiled, “It’s all thanks to your great teaching!”

“You’ve got talent, kid. Go ahead and unlock this warplane. We’ve already got three, so we’re set.” The instructor laughed with a nod to Yang Bo after hearing his reply.

“Where do you think you should do it?” He asked Yang Bo to choose the spot.

After pacing back and forth beneath the warplane, Yang Bo pointed at a spot. “Here!”

“Good, go ahead!” The instructor wasn’t too surprised, since any superhuman could remember this location.

Another flick of Yang Bo’s wrist, and the hair slipped back into place.

Seeing this, Yang Bo’s three companions were utterly convinced.

“I’ll find some armor to practice on when we get back!”

    “Exactly!”

“If we master unlocking warplanes, do you think the boss will give us a raise?”

“Definitely.” Zhou Zheng and his friends were already fantasizing about the Fat Boss increasing their pay.

Fat Boss’ company invested a lot in training their subordinates, teaching them as many skills as possible. The more skills they learned, the higher their salaries.

Of course, calling it ‘investment’ wasn’t entirely accurate. The company needed employees to provide value.

“You’ve got a natural talent for this.” The instructor was thoroughly impressed with Yang Bo. In less than an hour, including unlocking the restraining collar, Yang Bo had mastered these techniques—skills he hadn’t even been taught.

“Keep going!” The instructor, seeing how young Yang Bo was, began to take a liking to him. He thought to himself that if Yang Bo could fully unlock this warplane, he might recommend him to join a sect.

Step by step, under the astonished gazes of those around him, Yang Bo smoothly unlocked the warplane.

Even the President of the Bounty Hunter Guild, who had been observing from the side, started looking at Yang Bo differently.

If he could continue learning, Yang Bo could reach the top of this field.

“Let’s do another test. I’ll guide you, and you’ll follow my instructions. If you can do it, I’ll recommend you for a good opportunity.” The instructor seemed a little excited.

    “Yang Bo, do it!”

“Yeah, say yes!” Zhou Zheng and company, knowing a bit about what the instructor hinted at, urged Yang Bo with more anticipation than he had.

Yang Bo nodded. “Please go ahead, sir!”

“This spot, 17.5 centimeters in, but turn right at 14.5 centimeters.” He led them to a passageway in the warplane’s storage bay, indicating a section of the personnel access door, which was evidently locked.

“In our line of work, it’s all about touch. Trust your instincts.”

“Touch is hard to explain, but it’s even harder to master.”

“You all learned this at the same time, but their techniques are completely different from yours. If I hadn’t known you were young, I’d have thought you’d been in this business for years.”

“You made it look so effortless, but it’s really all about touch.” Standing off to the side, the instructor offered his explanation without giving specific instructions.

    “I don’t get it.”

“What he means is that the hair must shift slightly to one side, and the final insertion point is two centimeters away from the deviation.” Zhou Zheng muttered in a low voice as the President of the Bounty Hunter Guild’s eyes lit up while watching Yang Bo. If Yang Bo could pass this test, he could become a top technician for the Guild.

Someone who could unlock any intelligent system is invaluable to an organization, even if they only succeeded half the time.

Yang Bo gently felt around the indicated area and quickly understood. The structure required the destruction of a sensor inside.

Picking up the animal hair, Yang Bo concentrated, causing the hair to stiffen.

He then pulled back slightly, causing it to soften.

“It looks like the animal’s hair reacts to power. But I don’t know what kind of animal it came from.” Yang Bo pondered the hair’s characteristics and felt even more confident in his earlier assumptions.

Seeing Yang Bo’s movements, the instructor grew even more impressed. For a technician, the tool in their hand was key, and each time he used a new tool, he would test it thoroughly.

Suddenly, Yang Bo made his move. His hand brushed the designated spot lightly.

The next moment, the locked door slowly began to open.

“Genius!” the instructor stood there, astounded.

“How’d you pull that off?” he asked in disbelief.

Yang Bo, slightly embarrassed, replied, “I just felt like that was the right way to do it. Honestly, I’m still a bit confused!”

“We’ll deal with the spaceship first, then we’ll talk about that “good thing” I mentioned.” The instructor wasn’t too surprised by Yang Bo’s uncertainty. Indeed, Yang Bo had relied entirely on instinct for such an impressive feat.

But this instinct was magical. Some people practiced for years to find it, while others discovered it the moment they touched the tools.

Once the door opened, everyone stepped aside as a warplane inside began to fire at the passageway. Instantly, the space pirate leader’s voice echoed over the intercom.

“What are you trying to do? Let’s discuss this!”

“Damn it, the spaceship is out of control. Do you know what that means?”

“You unlocked the warplane? You bastards! Who the hell are you?” rage and panic laced the pirate leader’s voice, probably due to the massive damage done to the spaceship when the warplane opened fire earlier.

“Surrender your weapons and come out, fully disarmed. Use the maintenance robots to return all our gear. You’ve got three minutes. If you refuse, we’ll blow up your spaceship and leave in the warplanes ourselves.” The President of the Bounty Hunter Guild shouted boldly.

    “Yang Bo, you’ve made it!”

“Yang Bo, this guy’s definitely going to introduce you to a sect.” Zhou Zheng and the others whispered excitedly to Yang Bo, knowing he still held the Longevity Energy Stone.

“A sect?” Yang Bo looked at them, confused.

“Ancient martial sects. Some of them hold secret traditions. That guy’s probably from the Thief Sect. It’s said that no lock can stop them!”
