Chapter Index

Although Yang Bo anticipated that whoever came to assassinate the admiral wouldn’t be simple.

It wasn’t until he saw the person that he realized they were ten times better than he imagined.

This person not only knew how to turn invisible but also possessed something Yang Bo had long desired.

“I just don’t know if I’d be able to use it once I get it. After all, it needs energy of the same origin.” Yang Bo’s mind was fixated on one thing—whether he could use the person’s ring once it was in his hands.

Of course, if it had a control button like his mech button from before, that would be even better.

“This pigeon egg of a ring will blind everyone if I wear it outside.” Yang Bo shamelessly thought as he eyed the ring in the person’s hand.

“How did this guy solve the problem of the warship’s energy cannon needing such a massive power supply?” Yang Bo wondered as he saw the guy take out several parts.

After taking out the first container, he pulled out the components inside, soon taking out a second container, before putting the first one back—repeatedly pulling parts from it.

Each container was about a cubic meter in size, and in total, there were three containers with quite a few components inside.

When one of the components was brought out, Yang Bo immediately knew—these guys were using energy stones as a temporary power source.

“This will be perfect once it’s in my hands.” This high-powered energy cannon, clearly meant for temporary operations, was already seen as Yang Bo’s property.

The person was swiftly assembling the energy cannon on the attic that overlooked Wang Muxue’s residence. The attic’s windows were covered by thick curtains.

Even if the curtains weren’t drawn, no one could see inside because the windows were specially made, and the walls were radiation-proof.

Rich people need privacy, so when building luxury villas like this, they don’t spare any expense.

“This guy must have assembled this thing quite a few times.” Seeing how skillfully the person assembled the cannon from heaps of parts, Yang Bo guessed it was a custom order.

Just when Yang Bo was about to make his move, unexpectedly, the guy pulled out another component and set it to a timer, then placed the timer component inside the cannon.

He even sprayed something over the floor, likely to destroy evidence.

    “Is he planning to run?”

“Or is this just one of many moves?” Yang Bo realized the guy had left, which meant there were two possibilities.

“A simple energy cannon attack probably won’t do much.” Yang Bo doubted the cannon alone could kill Wang Muxue. Who knew what defenses the room had?

But anyone with half a brain would know—how would a family treat someone about to become an admiral?

Sensing the guy had left, Yang Bo tampered with something. Don’t forget, Yang Bo was also skilled in warship repair, and this energy cannon was meant for warships.

“Let’s see if there are any other people around.” Yang Bo quickly followed.

Just as Yang Bo suspected, the guy was indeed invisible, but his invisibility seemed different from his own. He moved through shadows and was pretty slow.

Yang Bo stayed a good distance behind, until the guy arrived at a neighboring villa, where there were three other partners waiting.

This villa was clearly occupied, but Yang Bo saw no signs of any other people’s corpses, not that he was sure why.

The four of them looked ordinary, all with fair skin, but their hair colors varied. The one with black hair, the guy who installed the cannon, appeared quite sturdy. Another had pale yellow hair, was skinny with long arms, and had slender fingers.

Another had silver hair, looking rather aloof. The rest, Yang Bo couldn’t discern much about.

The one with dirty-colored hair seemed to be the leader because he was the one reporting. “Captain, preparations are complete.”

“Good. Remember our mission. The cannon will break through their building’s defenses, then it’s our turn. From what we’ve heard, the other side has the Crack Void.”

Hearing this, Yang Bo’s heart skipped a beat. “Can I use this Crack Void thing if I get my hands on it?”

“We’ve simulated it hundreds of times. Against an A-ranked Genetic Evolver, we need to be ruthless. If we die, we’ll be brothers in the next life,” the captain said, looking at the other three.

The other three responded, “Got it.”

Their expressions remained unchanged as the captain continued, “Your families are all well taken care of. There’s no death penalty in the Alliance, so even if we kill an admiral, maybe one day we’ll still reunite with our families. The Empire won’t abandon you.”

Hearing this, Yang Bo felt like he finally understood—they were agents of the Azure Blue Empire.

Still, Yang Bo was half doubtful. Some intelligence organizations train special operatives under false flags, and many operatives die without knowing which side they truly belong to.

They could be Federation agents or elite forces from the Alliance’s big families. Who really knew?

Such was the nature of intelligence work, but Yang Bo didn’t care who they were. He was more curious about their techniques.

“The long-armed blonde probably has some special ability, which explains why his arms and fingers are so long.”

“That invisible guy from earlier? He must specialize in invisibility.”

    “And the others…”

“Number Two, you’re in charge of the final strike,” the captain ordered.

“Yes,” replied the guy responsible for installing the cannon.

“Number Three, you’ll be our fast thrust,” the captain said next.

“Yes,” said the guy with the long arms.

“Number Four, you’re on signal jamming,” the captain said.

    “Yes,” responded the last one.

Yang Bo’s eyes gleamed as he eyed Number Four. “This guy has the ability to block all signals. I wonder if killing him would give me that power.”

In fact, within ten minutes, Yang Bo realized he had been overthinking. Seeing four mecha in the basement, he knew it was going to be a mecha battle.

“Victory without honor,” Yang Bo muttered as he inspected the basement. It was obviously a small mecha factory.

“Looks like this organization has strong backing. Hiding four mecha here, but how were these sensitive pieces of equipment transported in?” Yang Bo marveled at the Ninth-Generation Mech. The difference between generations lay mainly in performance: sensitivity, energy efficiency, equipment variety, environmental adaptability, and the like.

The group carried out the final adjustments inside. They’d also prepared various bombs, like shockwave bombs and electromagnetic bombs.

“Signal jamming must refer to releasing the electromagnetic bombs.” Seeing the space, Yang Bo couldn’t help but feel excited; he loved places like this. Wasn’t he just in need of a small mecha factory?

Then there were those leftover mecha parts, along with manufacturing equipment, antimatter mecha batteries, and multi-barrel electromagnetic cannons… Wow.

“These are treasures you can’t buy even with money.” Yang Bo clicked his tongue.

“I wanted to watch a good show, but who told you guys to have stuff I wanted?” Initially, Yang Bo had planned to watch how the Female Captain’s superpowers would play out. After all, they were all A-rank.

Yang Bo knew they had set the time for this evening.

After finishing with the mecha, the group carefully wiped down their energy suits and then returned to the living room.

“Brothers, to die for the Empire!” They raised their wine glasses for their last supper, singing in a dialect that Yang Bo didn’t understand. The captain yelled passionately.

“To die!” The others’ expressions remained calm, as though they weren’t heading to their deaths.

Yang Bo was a bit moved. Every nation had people like this. He felt somewhat reluctant.

“Remember to inject the potion before piloting the mecha. It’ll boost our reaction speed,” the captain reminded them as they headed to the basement after finishing their meal.

Taking the elevator down to the basement, the captain, who was at the rear, suddenly tensed up. The next thing he saw was something coming out from his nose, everything turned hot in his head.

This was a new killing method developed by Yang Bo. While invisible, he couldn’t activate energy weapons himself, but he could pre-align them with someone’s weak spot and quickly deploy them.

The captain’s silver Crack Void weapon posed a threat to Yang Bo, so he pierced the captain’s skull first, releasing his fire energy! Spirit Control +32!

The other three suddenly sensed the energy fluctuation behind them. They reacted quickly, fleeing in three different directions.

Number Two felt his body grow light as he ran, then his head rolled to the ground. Rolling, he saw his body collapse, while Number Three shattered just a few meters away. Everything went black.

Number Two had to die first because he could turn invisible.

    Invisibility +16!

Number Three was directly shattered by Yang Bo’s energy suit-covered body. Using gravity’s speed boost, Yang Bo killed Number Two and then smashed Number Three through backward momentum. Poor guy didn’t even have an energy suit to protect him.

    Hacker +16!

Last was Number Four, who, sensing death looming over him, swelled his muscles like the Hulk. But it was useless…

    Frenzy Energy +16!

In less than a second, an A-rank and three B-rankers were all taken care of by Yang Bo.

    “Phew!”

“This basement is smaller than mine.” Yang Bo glanced around. The height was the same, but the width was only 500 meters. Still, it was enough.

Yang Bo’s strategy was simple now: think of himself as a flying cannonball. After all, these guys didn’t have energy suits. Who’s bullying who?

“Heh, it’s really the Crack Void.” Yang Bo gleefully picked up the weapon from the captain’s hand, feeling the surge of energy in the white energy stone.

“It’s a shame I can’t use it. My attributes don’t match, but I’ll pry the energy stone out, use Metal Superpower to study the structure and make my own version later.” Though he couldn’t wield it, Yang Bo happily took it, grabbing some of the captain’s biological samples. He guessed there must be an anti-theft mechanism.

From Number Two, Yang Bo pulled out a large ring with energy of the same origin from a pocket. After assessing it, he sighed with relief, “It’s like a mech space button, only with an added biological control chip.”

Meaning, only the original owner’s biological sample could activate the ring.

Yang Bo altered himself to match the original owner, then reset the chip’s permissions. Inside were just three cubic containers, nothing else.

He then burned the original owner’s body using his flame powers. Since the guy could turn invisible, Yang Bo wasn’t comfortable keeping any of his biological samples.

“Troublesome.” Looking at all the treasures in the basement, Yang Bo felt headache. There was no way he could carry all this back.

After glancing around, Yang Bo chose to pack one container full of bombs—electromagnetic bombs for mecha—and fit six bombs into the one cubic box.

He filled another with an antimatter battery, topping it off with parts for a mecha large-caliber laser gun..

In the last box, he stuffed some blueprints and programs for the equipment in the basement and an Central AI System—stuff related to mecha manufacturing.

Seeing time running out, Yang Bo sent Zhou Rui the address to clean up the place and split the gains 50-50. He even shared the location of the cannon set by the enemies.

Receiving the message, Zhou Rui rounded up a group of people and rushed to the scene, finding the basement door ajar. Seeing that the door was made of thick, warship-grade armor, they knew it wasn’t simple.

But upon witnessing the state of the basement, everyone gasped. Four mecha, along with manufacturing equipment, sat covered in ash. A human-shaped burn mark stood out.

    “Looks like this person combusted.”

“The one at the elevator took a headshot from a thermal weapon from behind.”

“This one was crushed into pieces.”

“And that last one—he was a rare Frenzy Energy user, but he was also slain by Third Master.”

The Bounty Hunters, having experienced many battles, recognized the signs with ease.

“President, we found the modified cannon at the location you mentioned, but the transmission device was destroyed. Otherwise, it would’ve already fired.” A guild member reported.

“Notify the Chief Magistrate that the credit goes to him, but we take all the spoils.” Zhou Rui was so excited she could barely contain herself. With this coup, the Bounty Hunter Guild would finally establish itself locally. She quickly began cleaning the scene, erasing any trace of Third Master to take full credit for herself.

The Chief Magistrate of March Planet arrived at the scene, also gasping in shock. A cannon, mecha, and even a small mecha factory, not to mention a large cache of bombs.

Wang Muxue, having seen the footage, also gasped. Four mecha plus a cannon in a sudden strike against her? Her chances would’ve been slim. And these mecha were clearly modified to counter her superpowers. Electromagnetic bombs and launchers could’ve interfered with her Crack Void and the Planet’s Security System.

Wang Muxue understood their tactics—first the cannon to crack open her defenses like a can, then mecha releasing electromagnetic bombs to jam all communication signals, followed by a close-quarters assault from the four mecha. Given the short distance…

“Forget it; my entire guard squad would’ve been wiped out.”

Wang Muxue now saw Zhou Rui in a new light. Could her cousin’s family really be capable of this?

By now, Yang Bo was back home, soaking in the bath. He had already cleaned himself off in the ocean while invisible, after all, he had smashed people to pieces.

“With my Electro-Optic Superpowers combined with my hacking skills, won’t that make me invincible?”

“What does Frenzy Energy even mean?” Yang Bo wondered as he planned to check on this ability in his basement after his bath.

Didn’t get to finish writing at noon, and now I have to go to work…
