Chapter 290: Test
by xennovelYang Bo was staring at the Crack Void in his hand. It was the first time he’d come into contact with such a weapon.
The entire Crack Void was about 18 centimeters long with a white energy stone in the middle.
Yang Bo first removed the energy stone, which was about the size of a quail egg.
After removing the energy stone, Yang Bo carefully used Metal Superpower to slowly explore the internal structure of the Crack Void.
He found the internal structure extremely complex, resembling the structure inside a chip.
“No wonder they call it the pinnacle of high-tech.” Yang Bo felt dizzy. The internal structure of the Crack Void was layered with intricate energy circuits.
“This thing is too complicated to make.” Yang Bo found himself nearly lost inside it.
Yang Bo decided to check online and was surprised to find a fairly detailed explanation.
Crack Void, accurately speaking, was the pinnacle of modern high-tech. Its internal structure was divided into several systems.
The exterior was made of energy metal. Inside, the main components were an anti-gravity system, a control system, and an energy system.
The flight speed and direction of the Crack Void were controlled by the anti-gravity system, altering the direction of gravity to achieve high-speed flight.
The control system was divided into two parts. One part was the quantum transmission system. Because Crack Void’s speed was too fast, ordinary wireless signals couldn’t ensure accurate control. The other part was Crack Void’s internal control system.
No need to mention the energy system…
There was even an animated demonstration, just depicting a rough structure.
With this rough structure in mind, Yang Bo gained a general understanding of Crack Void. When he examined its inner workings again, things became a bit clearer.
It was like when a computer novice opens up a computer and sees nothing but miscellaneous parts.
But for someone knowledgeable, one glance and they’d recognize the graphics card, power supply, memory, and hard drive.
It was like opening an electrical distribution cabinet. If someone unfamiliar opened it, they’d have no idea where to start, but an expert would immediately understand what to do.
Yang Bo started with the most basic energy system. Whether it was the control system or the anti-gravity system, they all relied on the energy system for support.
The entire energy system formed a dense network inside the Crack Void.
It supplied energy to various systems through energy circuits. The control system was also dependent on the energy circuits. Or rather, the energy circuits and control system jointly controlled the anti-gravity system so that the anti-gravity system was controlled from multiple levels.
After understanding the logic inside, Yang Bo found that the structure made much more sense.
“But it’s said that the energy metal used in this Crack Void has different ratios.”
“What kind of ratio exactly?” The online materials didn’t provide further details, only stating that different materials were used according to the user.
“The hardest part of using this weapon is controlling it. It’s just too fast, even faster than a human’s reaction speed.” Yang Bo also knew that not everyone could learn to use such a weapon.
If your reaction was even a little slow when retracting it, you might cut yourself.
It was like when someone unfamiliar with nunchucks first started using them, they were highly likely to injure themselves.
“Researching this thing consumes too much Mind Control!” After researching Crack Void for a bit, Yang Bo gave up for now.
“The Forgers’ Guild? Are they just handing me skill points?” Yang Bo saw a news article, surprised to learn that the leader he killed had such a significant background.
Yang Bo immediately thought of the Forgers’ Guild. He wasn’t thinking about joining them, but rather whether killing people in the guild would count for improving his forging skills.
“This kind of thinking is dangerous!” Yang Bo warned himself. Of course, if any corrupt members of the Forgers’ Guild appeared, he would have legitimate reasons to take them out, without crossing any moral lines.
As for joining the Forgers’ Guild, Yang Bo had no such plans. Despite the guild’s claims of neutrality and academic purity,
by the time he saw the “free for all” part, Yang Bo knew it was a scam. If everything were free, how would the guild sustain itself?
It was just exploitation of lower-level forgers. Otherwise, how could such a massive organization develop?
“Let’s check out the Bounty Hunter Guild!” Now that this matter had come up, Yang Bo decided to head to the Bounty Hunter Guild.
Yang Bo turned invisible and left his villa, heading through the mountains behind his territory to the guild’s base in the mountains.
“Third Master!” The guards outside the guild base, upon seeing Yang Bo appear, respectfully called out.
Yang Bo, wearing his energy suit, nodded and proceeded toward the base.
Zhou Rui and several other guild executives were coincidentally at the base. When they saw Yang Bo entering, their gazes showed fear, admiration, and even affection.
Especially the woman in charge of the guild’s mission hall. She was voluptuous, seductive, and her face was bewitchingly attractive.
“Third Master!” Zhou Rui and several higher-ups escorted Yang Bo to a side room.
“Third Master, the official reward for this mission has not been finalized yet. Now that the situation has changed, we can ask for more resources.” Zhou Rui was referring to the involvement of the Forgers’ Guild.
“There’s no rush. I don’t need the mecha. Find a way to get the battleship cannon.” Yang Bo didn’t need a mecha, as it was not convenient to carry.
“We’ll do our best. The high-power cannon is a regulated item, but if we can’t get one, we’ll arrange for a custom version from other channels.” Zhou Rui carefully observed Yang Bo’s reaction and, seeing no dissatisfaction, quickly added.
Yang Bo nodded: “I don’t need money, just prepare a batch of energy metals for me.”
Zhou Rui was intrigued and asked, “Third Master, what are you planning to forge?”
“That’s not convenient to say. Calculate it however you need to.” Yang Bo kept his plans to himself as, in truth, he hadn’t decided yet.
Of course, what he really wanted to forge was a storage item using the same source energy metal. That would be extremely useful. Yang Bo felt his current three-cubic-meter storage metal container wasn’t enough.
However, his same-source ring and mecha storage weren’t on the same frequency. It required further research into energy frequency.
As for Crack Void, he needed to experiment and figure out how to craft it. With his Metal Superpower ability, forging should be easier for him than for regular forgers. If his forging skills still weren’t enough, he could just eliminate some rogue forgers to upgrade his skills.
“I’ll also need to get my hands on that guy Frenzy Energy’s energy suit.” Yang Bo said. Last time, he didn’t get a good look at Frenzy Energy’s suit, as it had been hard to examine after the guy had transformed into a giant.
Yang Bo’s own same-source energy suit couldn’t cover his body after transforming into a giant…
Zhou Rui nodded: “Don’t worry, Third Master.”
“It’s been a while since I tested my strength. Do you have any relevant equipment here?” Yang Bo decided to do a comprehensive test of his strength.
However, in Zhou Rui and the others’ eyes, they believed Yang Bo wanted to show off his strength. As for why, well, each had their own interpretation.
“We do.” They were also curious as to what level Yang Bo had reached.
“Our guild’s hardware is built to Bounty Hunter Guild standards.”
“Even on March Planet, it ranks among the best. We have advanced instruments capable of testing up to ten thousand tons of force.”
Superpower tests primarily measured strength indicators. Energy attacks didn’t have uniform standards. Fire energy and Electric Power were examples: For the same biological target, one affected the surface while the other struck internally.
Furthermore, there wasn’t a unified energy unit. People weren’t exactly eager to openly display their superpower’s type or do public tests.
In a high-tech society, knowing your opponent’s power gave you a great advantage. If someone knew their opponent had fire abilities, they’d prepare fireproof, heat-resistant gear.
If the opponent wielded electric power, they’d equip themselves with insulated gear.
Arriving at the testing ground, only a few people came along, just some guild executives and Zhou Rui.
Yang Bo didn’t take off his suit because without his Metal Superpower, it would simply revert to its original form.
Yang Bo looked at the equipment before him: a black cube more than two meters tall and connected to many pieces of equipment that seemed to include an energy system.
The test was simple—just punch or kick the thing directly.
Zhou Rui nodded: “We’re ready, Third Master.”
Yang Bo swung his fist, smashing it forward in a first punch, then a second, third… He threw a total of five punches.
They took the average of the results, and Zhou Rui and the others were left speechless at the numbers displayed.
“Could the machine be wrong?” someone murmured.
Yang Bo checked the results, equally surprised: 6,600 tons?
Zhou Rui tapped the screen, showing the highest punch was 6,900 tons and the lowest was 6,400 tons.
The crowd fell silent. Imagine suddenly being hit by a 6,600-ton punch…
This exceeded the A-class standard by 13 times! In other words, Yang Bo had surpassed A-class.
If his strength reached 10,000 tons, that would put him at A+ class. This was pure physical strength.
Some Bounty Hunter Guild members suspected Yang Bo’s suit was affecting the results, but they had no proof. Even if he was wearing the suit, they couldn’t explain how he’d reached such numbers.
“Why not test it again?” Even Yang Bo found it hard to believe, considering his increased physical condition after using Frenzy Energy’s ability and gaining over 10,000 Charge points.
“Then let’s test it again.” Zhou Rui felt somewhat bitter. Yang Bo was too strong. Future partnerships might run into problems. When one side is too powerful, it often leads to issues in long-term cooperation.
Then again, Zhou Rui wasn’t too worried. For one, worrying wouldn’t accomplish anything. Second, the Bounty Hunter Guild was a colossal organization.
Many A-class individuals existed in the human world. Every year, dozens or even hundreds of A-class Genetic Evolvers died due to various accidents across the galaxy.
But there was a considerable gap between different A-class levels. An A-class individual like Yang Bo, capable of delivering punches with several thousand tons of force, was worlds apart from the A-class baseline of 500 tons.
Yang Bo tried another round of testing, throwing five punches with both hands.
“6,400 tons? Looks like the left hand dragged down the score,” Zhou Rui commented upon seeing the results.
However, the other executives were stunned. Generally speaking, there was a noticeable strength disparity between one’s dominant and non-dominant hands. The higher the level, the greater the difference.
For Yang Bo, though, the gap was relatively small, less than 500 tons between his two hands.
Yang Bo took mental note of the situation. He recalled hearing an excavator operator talk about a 200-class excavator using a 135-class hammer, which could exert around 20 tons of impact force…
Of course, punching wasn’t so easy to calculate. Part of it depended on making contact. Even if you swung with several thousand tons of force a hundred times, it was useless if you didn’t land a hit.
Superhumans evaluated their overall abilities. Zhou Rui asked, “Third Master, do you want to test your speed too?”
Yang Bo nodded: “Yes.”
The guild executives were deeply impressed with Yang Bo’s strength. Without even using energy, he was already incredibly powerful. They could only imagine what his strength would be like when energy was involved.
No wonder he was the pirate leader, moving in and out of this planet with ease.
“Third Master, wear this device and just take off running.” Zhou Rui led Yang Bo outside and handed him a wristwatch-like device.
Originally, Yang Bo had intended to test his speed indoors, but he decided to follow directions.
“You can start now, Third Master.” Zhou Rui said as they activated a device.
In an instant, Yang Bo was gone, and they heard a loud thud.
The guild executives’ faces turned pale, rushing to check the machine.
“No energy detected?”
“He broke the sound barrier in under 0.3 seconds, using only physical strength.”
“He reached 1.5 Mach in 0.8 seconds.”
“He hit Mach 2 in 1 second.”
The executives stared at the data, dumbfounded. Was this guy still human?
Moreover, the instrument showed no energy fluctuations. His speed truly reflected the overall strength of a superhuman.
Acceleration was a measure of physical toughness. Breaking the sound barrier in 0.3 seconds required unimaginable resilience and defensive power.
“Could it be his energy suit?” Several executives thought to themselves but couldn’t be sure, as the results showed no energy fluctuations.
The highest speed humans could withstand remained a mystery. In space, spaceships routinely travel hundreds of thousands of kilometers per hour (the space station orbits Earth at 7.8 kilometers per second).
But that’s with gradual acceleration. This kind of acceleration was something different entirely.
“How did it go?” Yang Bo returned from his run and asked.
“Third Master, it seems you’ve reached the pinnacle of A-class strength.” Zhou Rui could only say that much, unsure of whether the suit had affected the test.
“When you don’t wear the suit, we should test again.” Yang Bo thought he might not need to wear the energy suit as often anymore.
“Give me a normal identity. It’s inconvenient to walk around publicly in my current persona.” Yang Bo realized now that his current identity made him a wanted man…
