Chapter Index

Several teammates were stunned in the back. They couldn’t believe it was resolved so easily.

After hearing Yang Bo’s shout, several of them quickly came forward. In the distance, other zombies could be heard howling.

Yang Bo picked up the sniper rifle and aimed at the zombies following behind.

    Mind Control +8!

A message flashed through Yang Bo’s mind. He felt slightly disappointed. He thought this big guy would have a higher level, but it was only C-grade.

“Captain, what’s the next step?” Xiao Hong asked Yang Bo while sending him a screenshot of the mission.

Yang Bo glanced at the screenshot, paused for a moment, then immediately used his electro-optic ability to see what was happening at the scene.  He saw a drone flying away, carrying the huge zombie body and a large blade with its mechanical arm.

The game displayed that the large blade and zombie body were all stored in Xiao Hong’s backpack.

“Impressive!” Yang Bo didn’t expect the military had such a sneaky trick.

That meant the mission items appeared to still be in your backpack, but they had actually been taken.

At that moment, a large number of players arrived behind them. These players quickly drew their guns and began slaughtering the approaching zombies.

What surprised Yang Bo even more was that as the players slaughtered the zombies, messages kept flashing through his mind.

    Blade Mastery +2!

    Kick +2!

    Boxing +2!

    Pharmacy +2!

Yang Bo felt a bit strange. Was it the fire that had burned the zombies earlier, or did he somehow lure the zombies out, causing them to die?

Which causal relationship led to this, allowing him to gain skill points?

“There’s nothing else to do. Let’s log off. That chase scared me to death!” After saying that, Yang Bo threw a bomb far away.

Xiao Hong glanced at the mission item’s reward amount and quickly nodded, “Okay!”

The reward for this huge zombie was 600,000 credits, of which the large blade was worth 250,000. The zombie’s bones gave 50,000, and drawing two portions of its brain matter was worth 100,000.

Yang Bo divided the money and logged off. Xiao Hong and the others also logged off, but after logging off, they started video chatting.

“Our captain is definitely a top-tier assassin!”

“His control over the character is too fast. I seriously suspect he’s already at the master level of a mecha pilot.”

“The forum video of our captain has already gone viral.”

“We made a small profit today.”

“Making money is still so hard. I never felt it when spending it before.”

“Miss, if others hear that, how are they supposed to live? Some people only get four or five thousand credits a month, which they have to use to pay for rent, food, and their entire life.”

“I know. Has the captain gotten married yet?”

“If the family forces me to take the fall and go to prison, I’m going to serve the captain as his lover, provided he saves me.”

“Miss, keep dreaming. If the captain really is a master mecha pilot, there’s no way he’d be short of women.”

“When should we ask the captain what level of mecha pilot he is? Let’s go into the mecha game with him again.”

“We rookies can’t possibly play with the captain.”

“I haven’t made a penny from the mecha game. The monsters in that game are too strong, and piloting a mecha is too hard.”

“I didn’t make any money in the mecha game either. If not for the captain leading us, we wouldn’t be making any money at all.”

“The captain’s reaction speed is insane, and his shooting is deadly accurate.”

Several teammates privately chatted with each other. Meanwhile, Yang Bo, after logging off, still had messages about skills flashing in his mind.

The Blade Mastery skill had gained over 1,200 points, but that was understandable in the slaughterhouse.

Pharmacy also gained over 200 points.

The rest were just miscellaneous points and not much more.

“You can actually play like this?” Yang Bo rubbed his chin, picked up a bottle of milk, and drank it.

Afterward, Yang Bo headed to the underground bunker. This time, he limited his giant form to five meters tall and adjusted his energy suit to a shorts style to cover his important parts.

Mainly because when the giant grows, it needs to be covered. Otherwise, it would be embarrassing.

And now, without growing, it’s even more necessary to cover it, because it’s still embarrassing.

The underground bunker’s training ground had mirrors, designed so that you could see your condition while training.

“The shorter the giant form, the longer the duration.” Yang Bo looked at his five-meter-tall self. He looked a lot like the Hulk, except his skin was bronze.

Yang Bo struck a bodybuilding pose. If he didn’t move, you’d think he was a bronze statue.

Then, he threw a couple of punches, making a boxing motion.

“Being able to control the size of the giant form is excellent. It means that in any environment, I am the strongest.”

“Mechas are great, but most mechas are eight meters tall, as per the Alliance’s regulations.”

“They don’t allow mechas to be miniaturized for safety reasons. If mechas could be miniaturized, they could be hidden in civilian buildings, posing a threat to the safety of parliamentary officials.”

After five minutes of training, Yang Bo restored his size, freshened up, and then left the house using invisibility.

Today’s gaming session hadn’t taken much time. After lunch, Yang Bo took on John’s appearance and appeared around Wang Muxue’s residential area.

“These security guards are way too unprofessional. It’s obvious who’s part of the security team.” Although it looked like there weren’t many police around, anyone at a glance could tell by their strong builds and oversized jackets with something bulging underneath.

Wang Muxue’s residence was in a wealthy area, and it was also a villa area, the best scenic location in the entire city.

The surrounding infrastructure was also very comprehensive, with many high-end shopping malls, clubs, and bars.

Many of the women entering and leaving these bars were clearly superhumans. The service there mainly catered to superhumans.

When Yang Bo first arrived on this planet, he thought every superhuman was like a superhero.

But it turned out a significant portion of superhumans were nothing noteworthy. Some of them didn’t even meet the criteria for a rating.

And 90% of all superhumans belonged to the lowest level.

This was due to several reasons. One major reason was that high-grade gene serums were rare. It was impossible to equip everyone with such serums.

Another reason was that high-grade gene serums contained a lot of energy. If someone couldn’t absorb that energy, it could be dangerous.

In simple terms, it’s like dosing medication on Earth. The larger your body weight, the larger the dosage. If you give a chicken a bull’s dosage, the chicken would die.

Gene serums worked similarly. If your genes weren’t strong enough, using a high-grade serum could yield the opposite result.

Of course, even if there were enough high-grade serums, the parliament officials wouldn’t distribute them to everyone. They controlled resources to maintain power.

There were plenty of tourists here. Many were taking photos, checking in, since you could see the three moons hanging in the sky.

Scenes like this were rare. Yang Bo found a seat in the park and sat down.

He glanced at two beautiful women on another bench. They looked like female police officers, with very nice skin, snow-white.

Of course, Yang Bo just looked. They wore oversized jackets, clearly hiding something important underneath.

“This sunshine feels great!” Yang Bo relaxed his body, adopting a lazy posture.

The police had already conducted detailed data checks on Yang Bo and had determined he wasn’t a danger, so they turned their attention to other passersby.

Suddenly, someone caught Yang Bo’s attention.

This person was walking a pet, slightly larger than a fist. Upon closer inspection, it looked like a miniature pangolin.

The pet owner was wearing a hat, had silver hair, pale skin, tea-colored sunglasses, a short-sleeved t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers, carrying a small, shriveled backpack. His appearance gave a vibrant and handsome impression.

Judging by his outfit, the surrounding police gave him a glance, determining he wasn’t dangerous, since it was easy to see everything he had on him at a glance.

Though many people around were dressed similarly, Yang Bo immediately knew this person was disguised.

This kind of intuition never failed Yang Bo. After a closer look, he knew this person was definitely in disguise. Standard tourists would be looking around, taking in the sights.

Why wouldn’t someone on vacation be glancing around, enjoying the surrounding scenery?

The person with the pet walked over to Yang Bo’s bench and, with a polite and friendly tone, asked, “May I sit here?”

“Of course!” Yang Bo lowered his head to look at the person’s pet. It was clear the pet was very timid.

While walking earlier, it had kept its distance from passersby, and now it was huddled beside its owner’s feet.

“That collar on the little creature… something’s not right,” thought Yang Bo. He had already scanned it earlier and could tell the pet owner’s strength wasn’t low.

Yang Bo sat on that bench specifically because it was the best observation point in this park.

Anyone coming to scout the area would have to come here.

“Sir, may I ask what kind of pet this is?” Yang Bo looked closer, realizing it resembled a mole, but its back had pangolin-like scales.

“It’s a rather rare pet. I’ve got the official certification.” The owner, who appeared to be a vibrant and handsome young man, waved his certification in front of Yang Bo.

“It seems shy?” Yang Bo watched the owner’s performance silently.

“Yes, it’s very timid and introverted,” nodded the sunny, handsome pet owner as he picked up the small creature.

Yang Bo noticed its belly was covered in white fur. The little thing trembled in its owner’s hand.

“Did I just get this lucky?” Yang Bo wasn’t sure if this person was the assassin code-named Chameleon.

Suddenly, Yang Bo recalled information about this person. They had been in the country for ten days.

“Suspicious?” Although the Chameleon had only accepted the assassination order two or three days ago, the timing seemed to make the person more suspicious. The Chameleon rarely took orders, and it’s likely they scouted the situation thoroughly before accepting.

That’s just speculation, though. Many people wanted to target Wang Muxue.

The Red Earl, the Ashes Organization, even internal members. Some people within the Wang Family might feel uneasy about Wang Muxue’s sudden rise.

Internal family power struggles could lead to even crueler acts than external enemies, as they were more informed and ruthless.

Suddenly, an idea crossed Yang Bo’s mind. He wiggled his fingers toward the little creature in the handsome young man’s hand, using his lure ability.

The little creature’s pitch-black eyes stared at Yang Bo. It hesitated for a moment, then whined as if it wanted to leap toward him.

It was a tiny thing, and its two paws dug frantically into its owner’s hand.

Yang Bo hadn’t expected his lure ability to actually work on small animals. He wiggled his fingers again.

The little creature suddenly cried out loud. It was like when you grab your own pet, and it opens its mouth wide to yelp. Yang Bo was startled. Even the handsome pet owner was startled, instinctively pinching the little thing’s mouth shut.

    “Stop!”

    “Stop!”

“Hey, stop!” The pet owner’s actions caused the plainclothes officers nearby to suddenly change in expression. In an instant, they drew laser pistols from beneath their jackets, aiming them at the young man.

The sunny, handsome pet owner was dumbfounded. Yang Bo was also caught off guard.

He quickly raised his hands and shifted his body to the side.

“Sir, you are now suspected of abusing your pet.” One of the officers, whose laser gun was clearly in a fuully charged state, pulled out his ID and shouted loudly.

“No!” The young man was panicking, raising his hands because several police drones swooped in, flashing red lights, indicating they had locked onto him.

When the young man raised his hands, the little creature fell onto his lap.

Then, the little creature jumped onto the bench and then onto the ground, trying to run toward Yang Bo.

But the young man held onto the leash.

“Sir, please release the leash. You just treated your pet roughly. We need to review your qualifications. Please refrain from making any moves that could be misinterpreted.” One of the officers said.

One of the police drones broadcasted a voice. “This is the March Planet Alliance Pet Court. My name is Danny, Judge No. N0339.”

“Based on the video evidence provided by four officers, you have been judged to have treated your pet harshly. The court’s preliminary ruling is to strip you of your pet ownership qualifications. Please comply with the officers’ orders. We will re-examine your and your pet’s records.” The judge’s voice came from the police drone.

An officer stepped forward to unbuckle the leash from the handsome young man’s waist. The small creature immediately scurried toward Yang Bo, leash and all.

Yang Bo was still a bit confused. When the little thing reached his feet, it huddled there, whining softly.

“Sir, you can pick up this little cutie. It has no offensive power.” One of the officers, watching Yang Bo with his hands raised, kindly nodded and reminded him.

“Thank you. I also think it’s adorable.” Yang Bo reached out and picked up the little creature. The handsome young man now looked extremely upset.

The moment Yang Bo picked it up, he realized something wasn’t right. This definitely wasn’t an ordinary pet.

    Two updates complete.
