Chapter Index

Invisibility is an extremely rare ability in the gene evolution sequence. Every powerful invisible genetic evolver is the trump card of major forces.

In a highly advanced technological society, most genetic evolvers have no choice but to rely on high-tech to combat high-tech. Unless they’re top-level evolvers, most can’t take on mechas, aerospace fighters, and certainly not missiles, high-frequency laser guns, or orbital laser cannons by themselves.

Even technology that can destroy planets would leave genetic evolvers useless unless they possessed special abilities.

Invisibility is definitely amongst these special abilities. Historically, an entire enormous conglomerate was ruined by a special genetic evolver with invisibility. They infiltrated the company’s most secretive labs, sabotaged equipment, stole data, and leaked it, destroying the company.

So as the captain and an A-grade intelligence-type genetic evolver, it’s no wonder he reacted this way.

“Yes, Captain, we’ve passed the experiment, and we found several intact rat corpses that all possessed invisibility. However, we don’t know the exact inheritance rate of this special gene or the success rate of creating an injection. We cannot continue testing as it requires SS-level supervision from the Alliance before proceeding to the next step.” The subordinate nodded.

The captain immediately nodded when he heard this: “I’ll report it right away.”

Right afterward, the warship began moving away from its original position because A-grade invisibility material had to be kept isolated and secure. The warship detached from the skyport. From this moment until the SS-level regulators from the Alliance arrived, nothing—not even a hair—would leave the warship. The warship entered its wartime system, and any aircraft that approached without permission would be blown to pieces.

By this time, Yang Bo was already at work. The exhibition hall, which had looked cluttered during the day, had been transformed overnight with all kinds of posters and huge text displays.

He first cleared the large pieces of trash off the floor, then pushed the vacuum cart. After finishing, Yang Bo looked around and noticed it was an exhibition hall for displaying mechas.

“This doesn’t make sense. Mecha companies are always big corporations. Why such a small exhibition hall?” Yang Bo felt suspicious.

After finishing his tasks and cleaning up, he collected his wristwatch from the duty officer, returned his access card, and went home.

It was still early morning, but the streets were brightly lit. From here, he could already tell which areas belonged to high-end communities. The ones that were pitch-black were definitely the luxury areas. Those that were brightly lit were the kinds of places Yang Bo used to live.

Back in his community, he picked up the battery that had been charging. Regardless of the battery size, charging only cost 50 credits. Electricity in this world was exceptionally cheap.

Returning home and cleaning up, Yang Bo started fantasizing. A huge sum of money… It’s time to buy a house!

“I’m not going to enter the game for now. Let’s familiarize myself with my abilities first.” Yang Bo opened the internet but didn’t log into the game. Instead, he entered the game forums.

“They’re robbing people!” Yang Bo intended to check out information on the mutated beasts and mutants within the game. Most games had such forums, but to his surprise, everything cost in-game currency.

“D-class Swamp Poison Croc information, 50,000 gold coins needed.”

“C-grade Ice Rat information, 100,000 gold coins needed.”

“B-grade Poisonous Forest Python information, 1 million gold coins needed.”

Yang Bo gasped upon seeing the prices. The information’s cost depended on the level of the creature.

There wasn’t even A-grade info, and none for S-grade either. In fact, nobody even knew if S-grade material actually existed because no one had ever heard of one.

“Heh, as if you could swipe even a coin off me. My target is only small creatures.” Yang Bo thought to himself. Even if an A-grade creature only awarded a few points, would it be worth the risk compared to small animals? Yang Bo was very clear on the risk-reward ratio.

Suddenly, Yang Bo’s face turned green. Bird Slasher? Is that… me?

The entire forum was filled with criticism of him, saying he was cruel to small animals and a failure in real life. They even offered a 5 million in-game currency bounty for anyone who could uncover his identity.

There were even people complaining that they couldn’t add Bird Slasher as a friend.

And they blamed the disaster that happened to him twice in-game as retribution.

Yang Bo shuddered. A strange chill ran down his spine.

“No, I have to keep this identity a secret.” Yang Bo muttered to himself.

But soon, Yang Bo relaxed. The mecha game was filled with genetic evolvers, and most of them had mecha licenses. You couldn’t even pass the game’s entry test without one. The original host had wanted to enter the game but failed. Of course, the officials wouldn’t outright ban civilians from entering the game.

They’d never admit it outright—it would violate their own policies. It’s just like in America, where some people look down on minorities but won’t say it out loud. Instead, they hypocritically call for equality so those same people will vote for them. Behind their backs, they might curse those voters, calling them idiots.

That’s why the game company uses an anonymous system to avoid accusations of discrimination. By not tracking identities, the company can claim they have no control over data. Since everything is anonymous, we can’t be blamed for it.

“I’m just an upstanding citizen. Who’s this Bird Slasher? I don’t know him, absolutely not.” Yang Bo closed the game forum and opened Li Aidu’s concert.

“This babyface looks quite enticing.” Yang Bo muttered as he watched Li Aidu’s virtual image.

Then Yang Bo checked the event details and saw that many companies were participating this time.

Some were selling rejuvenation gene injections, others sold clothing, jewelry, and other luxury goods. Looking at some of the prices, which were equivalent to a house, Yang Bo felt like the luxury items weren’t that different from the trash bags he used at work.

The high-tech companies were also there with wristwatches, anti-gravity hoverboards, anti-gravity cars, and mechas for sale.

There were five mecha companies. Two were manufacturers, and three modified them. Yang Bo was in charge of the exhibition hall for a company called Dimension Mecha Modification Corp., ranked among the top three in the Alliance.

Rumor had it they were going to announce some major news. Their stock was already rising.

“I’ll take a good look when the time comes.” Yang Bo didn’t see what mechas they were showcasing.

After exiting the forum, Yang Bo began training his abilities. He bought a pile of toys made from various materials.

Inside his room, his fingers snapped repeatedly. One by one, the toys cracked open, a few breaking apart.

After two hours of training, he had dinner and went to sleep.

When he woke up, it was after 4 p.m. Yang Bo went into the bathroom to train his muscle camouflage ability… touching his unusually large pectorals, feeling a bit strange. The texture wasn’t quite right.

For now, his camouflage could only alter muscles. His bones could only undergo slight adjustments.

This wasn’t enough to deceive intelligent detection devices, which could scan bone structures or detect the unique biological waves emitted by individuals.

It was all very complicated. Without an implanted chip, Yang Bo couldn’t understand all the technology in this world. He had a rough understanding at best.

His main focus was on training the speed of his Camouflages. After finishing, he recharged the energy he’d used.

That night, Yang Bo went back to the exhibition hall and was greeted by the sight of a towering mecha standing on a massive alloy plate. The mecha was eight meters tall.

“What kind of lousy company brings these outdated third-generation mechas to fill space?” Yang Bo recognized the mecha. Wasn’t this the Razor Mecha he used in the game? It felt like a grand auto show where someone brought a hand-cranked tractor just to fill a spot.
