Chapter Index

After finishing his work, Yang Bo carefully examined the mecha. Although outdated, it looked clunky, just like the mechas from old animated shows with their boxy heads and forms. It lacked the artistic charm of modern, advanced mecha.

“I suppose it makes sense that the people on the game forums were flaming me.” Yang Bo glanced at the plasma blade, which was five meters long. When he thought about striking a small bird with it, he mumbled to himself, acknowledging he might have gone too far.

Of course, admitting he went too far was one thing, but whether he’d actually stop was another matter. It was like politicians—shouting slogans one day, only to vanish a couple of days later.

“Tsk, tsk. Imagine bringing this thing back to Earth.” Yang Bo carefully inspected it again but didn’t step onto the alloy floor due to the caution tape. — After ten days of training, Yang Bo could now change his face in less than a second. Looking at himself in the mirror, he could swap in just a second, switching between male and female faces, although he couldn’t alter his bone structure. He could, however, adjust the amount of flesh on the face.

Yang Bo could now control soundwave manipulation within a 100-meter range with precision.

Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, Yang Bo snapped his fingers. A gust of wind blew through the garden 100 meters away, shattering a leaf to pieces.

The entire strike took only 0.3 seconds. Beyond that range, Yang Bo found it meaningless. While such a time difference was negligible for ordinary people, for a Genetic Evolver, it could mean a lot.

His intended target was civilians. Would Yang Bo use such tactics? A few fists would be enough to have them calling the police.

Invisibility—this ability was practically unbeatable. Looking into the mirror, Yang Bo saw himself disappear completely. Statistically, the mirror should have shown an empty reflection, but instead, it presented the wall behind him.

It was an indication of his energy transformation.

Yang Bo realized something: the powers Genetic Evolvers display are merely surface-level. The true essence lies in the energy within their bodies.

It’s similar to electricity on Earth—it can be converted into sound, imagery, wind, heat, light, and so on through various machines.

Likewise, a Genetic Evolver’s abilities are expressions of energy, and at their core, it’s just electricity.

“Once this event is over, I’ll buy a house. It needs to have a large basement so I can personally train in Electric Power Control and Light Energy Control.” Yang Bo changed his clothes and headed out. Nowadays, he didn’t need sleep. Feeling tired? Charge. Drowsy? Charge. Hungry? Eat. Although he could skip meals, Yang Bo disliked the empty stomach sensation when he did.

There were six mechas in the exhibition hall. Aside from the first one, Razor Mecha, the rest were sleek and beautiful, designed for both land, sea, and air combat. They were equipped with Laser Swords, Laser Cannons, and even missile launchers.

They came in blue, pink, and green.

“Huh?” There were only three days left before the exhibition started. Other halls had tons of items on display, all related to mecha—the specifics were unclear because Yang Bo couldn’t enter. But today, he noticed a large display board set in front of each mecha, likely for introducing them.

No smart devices were being used here, and even powerful signal blockers were in place. The abilities of Genetic Evolvers are wide-ranging, and some can manipulate data, so precision exhibitions like this never use smart equipment to prevent data breaches.

Lately, there’s been a significant buzz about Dimension Company. Rumor has it this exhibition will be historic. Yang Bo wondered what new technologies might appear but, as a regular civilian with no knowledge of science (nor obscure laws), he couldn’t make any meaningful guesses.

Why didn’t he know these things? Because he was part of a disadvantaged class, lacking a Biological Chip, meaning he couldn’t retain memories.

So when civilians break laws, if it’s a first offense and there are no serious consequences, they’re typically not punished. Civilians can simply say they didn’t know about the law.

Obscure laws are like those quirky Earth laws—such as not allowing idleness in Florida.

Yang Bo snapped his fingers, and suddenly the mechanical structure of each mecha appeared in his mind. The largest stood a full 12 meters tall, entirely blue, with a large, transparent cockpit.

Not that understanding the structure helped—it was mostly lost on Yang Bo. Mechas are similar unless they’re specialized alien types.

Mechas come in many types beyond war machines, including work mechas.

The next day, Yang Bo trained his abilities and checked house prices. He chose a few, but annoyingly, due to the upcoming concert, prices had surged.

Yang Bo hadn’t logged into the game since. While he boasted immense power, tactically he felt lacking, and his body needed settling.

“That’s strange.” For three consecutive nights, new information appeared next to the display boards of the other mechas.

For example, on the tallest mecha, recent modifications listed included a next-gen antimatter battery, a full-body energy shield, the latest Light Brain Assist, and a high-energy particle gun. Critical components used energy metals, among other things.

The antimatter battery’s endurance and explosive capacity were a hundred times greater than the Nuclear Batteries Yang Bo used in his game.

This mecha could accelerate instantly to 16 times the speed of sound…

After work, Yang Bo was surprised by the sheer number of people gathered outside SkyDome Amusement Park, many of whom appeared to be reporters. Yang Bo slipped out through the employee exit, noticing that police in single-soldier exoskeletons were managing the crowd.

Back at home, after freshening up, Yang Bo checked the internet. Dimension Company was set to release major news, likely related to the Razor Mecha, as its display board had yet to provide any details.

By 7:30, with only half an hour until SkyDome’s exhibition, Dimension Company’s news had already gone viral.

Yang Bo quickly opened the company’s promo video, where a man with a magnetic voice spoke alongside a slideshow on the screen.

“It’s been 1,500 years since our first space jump test.”

“1,000 years since the first manned space jump.”

“In these 1,000 years, we’ve conducted billions of space jumps, making human connection stronger than ever.”

“Today, Dimension Company is unveiling humanity’s greatest invention. Seen countless times in novels and movies: dimensional storage equipment.”

“This is the Razor Mecha. And this is a dimensional storage button. Take a look here.”

On-screen, someone held up something that resembled a car key from Yang Bo’s past life, with a crystal on it. The crystal had a red button on one side and a silver one on the other.

He pressed the silver button, and the Razor Mecha disappeared before their eyes.

“Some might doubt this. Some might claim the video is fake. Rest assured, our company will demonstrate this groundbreaking invention live at SkyDome Amusement Park.” As the voice explained, the presenter pressed the red button, and the mecha reappeared.

“What the…” Yang Bo was stunned. He quickly read the news that hundreds of people were already crowding outside Dimension Company’s exhibition hall, causing its stock price to skyrocket. Of course, some experts Yang Bo didn’t recognize claimed it was impossible.
