Chapter 34: A Gang of Villains?
by xennovelBy the afternoon, Yang Bo realized that this space button was still in its early stages. It could only store specific items. For example, the mecha button could only store the mecha, and nothing else could go in.
It’s said that the mecha was made with a special energy metal that matched the Energy Stone used in the space button. Dimension Company didn’t reveal much more, as it was classified. Many had seen it, but attendance required an appointment, which Yang Bo couldn’t secure. The following days were all fully booked.
Furthermore, the current application of this space technology was quite limited. Only the third-generation mecha could barely use it. Higher levels involving composite and biological materials had yet to achieve any breakthroughs.
Dimension Company’s stock price skyrocketed like crazy. Many hailed this as a major breakthrough in space utilization, but some were concerned about potential safety risks. Imagine if a criminal organization suddenly unleashed a mecha in the middle of a crowded city; that would be chaos.
Some experts even suggested that this technology must be regulated by the Alliance. If it spreads, it could become extremely dangerous.
As Yang Bo read this, he was reminded of the shameless people back on Earth. Whenever someone else had something good, they’d try to take it for themselves.
He hadn’t done anything all day, just watched the spectacle. In the evening, he arrived at the exhibition hall, only to find the place filthy.
“Doesn’t seem that special,” Yang Bo snapped his fingers as he focused on the Razor Mecha in front of him. It had been demonstrated during the day, being stored and retrieved.
Yang Bo got to work. Unlike previous nights, there were a lot more mecha police patrolling outside the exhibition hall today. With many media outlets swarming in from all directions, it made sense.
Cleaning was harder tonight. Maybe it had something to do with the larger crowd. Yang Bo glanced around and thought some of the other mecha looked better than the Razor Mecha.
After finishing his cleaning, Yang Bo reviewed the introduction. This was undoubtedly black technology—so black it couldn’t get any blacker.
His shift ended, and he went home. Yang Bo never wanted to touch those mechas. Fame wasn’t something he sought. He preferred to quietly grow stronger in the shadows.
For the next several days, this topic continued gaining steam. At night, one could often see private spacecraft landing with streaks of light.
Other than on the first day when he was curious, Yang Bo spent the following nights training in sonic attacks. One morning after waking up from a sound sleep, Yang Bo decided to explore other high-tech exhibition halls since he’d managed to make a reservation. Entry was free.
However, the hall he was in charge of couldn’t be reserved until the exhibition ended.
SkyDome Amusement Park was a massive building, 600 meters in diameter and over 500 meters tall. It had the best concert venue on the entire planet.
Inside the amusement park, there were all kinds of luxury goods and fun attractions. Yang Bo never had the chance to visit in the past.
He used to be a ‘pig’, living off the Alliance’s free welfare. People like that weren’t welcome in high-end places, often criticized by opposition parties, much like when poor families aren’t allowed to own cars.
With his new status, Yang Bo was no longer a pig, so he could enter freely. However, he still preferred to check out the mechas. Luxury goods weren’t really his thing.
Stepping into one exhibition hall, he saw all kinds of mecha components: batteries, antimatter batteries. These looked just like Earth’s square luggage cases, but they could be customized in shape and could continuously supply a huge amount of power. Reportedly, they could last for 300 years, making them highly suitable for alien mining mecha.
A Laser Sword, seven or eight meters long!
A new generation of light brain! After walking around the exhibition, Yang Bo felt confused. He didn’t understand what most of the data meant. His knowledge level wasn’t high enough.
After entering SkyDome Amusement Park, Yang Bo wandered around, enjoying the naturally soft breeze, which was part of the building’s ventilation system.
“Tsk tsk.” He came across a store selling bionic robots. People with money could buy one as a companion for their children, or a bachelor could get one as a partner, all protected by Alliance law. It was much more extravagant than the over one hundred genders in America.
Because the Alliance operated under a federal parliamentary system, it had produced many bizarre policies and laws.
“Huh?” In the center of SkyDome Amusement Park, Yang Bo looked down from a high vantage point. He suddenly spotted someone below who gave him an odd feeling.
This person was a middle-aged man with golden hair. He looked very handsome, but to Yang Bo, something felt off about him.
“Camouflage?” Yang Bo frowned slightly. He had felt this way before.
The man seemed to be either looking outside or gazing at the stars. Suddenly, he turned around and scanned the surroundings. But at this time, there were so many people around, a dense crowd.
“Sir, may I help you with something?” A service worker approached, surprised by the man’s sudden action.
“Thank you, but no.” The man smiled warmly, giving off a sunny vibe.
Yang Bo had already left, but not long after, he noticed another middle-aged man with blonde hair. The guy also gave off a dangerous and fake vibe. He, too, was an old pretty boy.
“Are they together?” Yang Bo couldn’t shake the feeling that these two were connected.
“They can’t be targeting me, right?” Yang Bo muttered to himself as he left SkyDome Amusement Park.
The day was getting late, and Yang Bo made his way back to the Community. More people were out on the streets now, and many tourists were renting houses there.
“Damn, are they really coming for me?” A red-haired young man casually glanced at Yang Bo, making him feel something was off.
This red-haired guy was with the same group as the people Yang Bo had seen at SkyDome Amusement Park. Their walk, smile, actions, and aura—all looked just as fake.
The red-haired young man gave Yang Bo a quick look and then thought to himself, “I can’t believe someone’s paying a high price to catch this trash. Do they think Red Earl’s gang is running a junkyard? I’ll grab him first and see what makes him special.”
The red-haired youth exited the Community gate, smiling as he looked toward the distant SkyDome Amusement Park. That would be his main stage. Watching the people come and go, he flashed a charming smile.
“I wonder if these people will regret coming here when they realize what’s about to happen. I look forward to seeing the helpless, despairing look in their eyes, just like lambs to the slaughter.” The red-haired youth, still smiling, headed toward SkyDome Amusement Park.
Back home, Yang Bo’s face didn’t look too good. While he wasn’t entirely certain they were targeting him, he couldn’t let his guard down.
“Is it time to run? Too bad I’m a resident here. Otherwise, I’d buy a ticket and flee right away.” Yang Bo frowned.
“Move out?”
“Not a good idea. The An Zhijie Corporation has too much influence. Private places might not be entirely safe after all. Those Genetic Evolvers are too overpowered. Who knows what abilities they have?”
“What should I do?”
“What to do… Should I call the police?”
Just then, Liu Zhijie called.
“Yang Bo, come to the office. I’ve got good news.” Liu Zhijie said directly.
