Chapter Index

However, when Yang Bo returned home, trembling as he looked at the item in his hand, he could clearly feel the terrifying difference between the energy inside this Energy Stone and the one he had bought.

“Damn it.” Yang Bo felt his hands and feet trembling.

Charging the device calmed him down. Yang Bo forced himself to stay composed.

“It seems the other party is part of a very old organization.” Yang Bo judged that the painting seemed ancient.

Right after that, Yang Bo started getting a headache: “Those guys were glaring at me. I can’t let my guard down. But how did I, just an ordinary resident, offend them in the first place?”

    “Could they be assassins?”

“Or maybe it’s related to the Gene Serum Company behind all this? Could it be connected to the original host’s sudden death? Maybe the whole batch of test subjects died, but I survived?” Yang Bo started thinking rapidly, his bold assumptions quickly making sense of many things.

Taking a deep breath, Yang Bo opened the internet to check if anything unusual happened at the SkyDome concert today.

As expected, something did happen. The Dimension Company’s exhibition hall had stopped its display today due to some minor issues. The exhibition is set to resume tomorrow.

Yang Bo didn’t know that the higher-ups at the Dimension Company were jumping up and down with rage. The Space Button had been stolen from the largest hotel, despite being under the protection of a powerful security company and a few bodyguards.

Neither the person in charge of the button nor the bodyguards could remember what had happened.

The company’s top executives were now at the police station, as were the hotel higher-ups. Such an incident occurring at the largest hotel could create huge problems if word got out.

“How are we supposed to investigate the case?”

“The hotel doesn’t allow us inside, and you guys don’t have any surveillance footage for us to check. All we can look at is the outside public area’s surveillance footage!” A senior police officer, upon hearing about such a case, already knew how to handle it. These super high-end hotels prized privacy, so installing cameras was out of the question—no one would stay there otherwise, right? Besides, the officer wasn’t all that eager to check the hotel either. What if he ran into an officer inside… cough, that’d be the end of his career.

“We can arrange an appointment.” One of the hotel executives gritted his teeth and said.

“What’s the point? The place is full of guests. Who remembers who? You’ve got over ten thousand people passing through there each day lately.” The officer was basically shirking responsibility. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to investigate, but that it was just too difficult.

The officer harbored a bit of dark amusement at the fact that this time, the Dimension Company had attracted so much attention. Perhaps a disgruntled rival in the mecha industry had sent someone. It wouldn’t be surprising—competitors can go to great lengths.

The face of the Dimension Company’s executives turned grim: “The Space Button is integrated with the mecha, and its total value exceeds one hundred billion. If the hotel doesn’t provide a reasonable explanation, we will make the incident public.”

“You can’t just replace the Space Button with another one?” The hotel executive was stunned upon hearing this and asked again.

“No, it’s not that simple. Although the energy frequencies of the components align, energy metals are extremely expensive. I’m sure you’re aware of that.” The Dimension Company’s executive exaggerated the cost slightly, but in a situation like this, who cared? Besides, the other party was a famous financial group in the Alliance.

“That’s impossible, and besides, you don’t have any proof that the Space Button was stolen in our hotel.” The hotel executive retorted without hesitation.

“You…” The Dimension Company executive jumped up instantly. Damn, how could they be this shameless?

“Our company is not afraid to fight a lawsuit. Even if it comes to that, at most we hold one-third of the responsibility. After all, we simply provided item storage, right?”

“Secondly, the security company you commissioned is also at fault.”

“Thirdly, if you don’t provide evidence, we could also accuse you of making false accusations.”

The Dimension Company executive stood up and said, “In that case, there’s no need to talk anymore. See you in court.”

“Don’t forget, the testimony of the security company’s personnel also counts.” The Dimension Company executive sneered.

The hotel executive took a deep breath and said, “I’ll need to consult with higher-ups.”

“Please do.” The Dimension Company executive also breathed a sigh of relief, because if the matter got out, the reputation of their company would be ruined.

What? The Space Button got stolen? Wouldn’t the customers think that if they bought it, theirs would get stolen too? The hotel executive had no choice but to consult, as the security company had powerful backing. As one of the top-ranked security companies in the Alliance, it wouldn’t easily take the blame either. So who would take the fall?

The employer, the Dimension Company, couldn’t be blamed. That would be like holding the contractor responsible for a poorly cooked meal, or blaming the viewers for disliking a movie. Who could be held accountable? The hotel, of course.

After browsing the web, Yang Bo started looking into the Space Button once again and the pure Energy Stone attached to it.

“I wonder if I can absorb this Energy Stone?” Yang Bo mumbled. This Energy Stone held at least ten billion units of electricity! If he could absorb it, he wouldn’t need to carry batteries anymore; just this stone would be enough.

Gently stroking the Energy Stone embedded in the Space Button, as he felt its terrifying power, Yang Bo’s heart stirred, and he absorbed it.

“It works. Looks like I’ll need to buy more Energy Stones as backup, even if they’re of lower quality.” Yang Bo felt the powerful energy inside his body and was ecstatic. Now he wouldn’t need to worry about carrying batteries in the future.

Feeling the immense energy surging through his body, Yang Bo couldn’t help feeling pleased. The Energy Stone was also used as an ornament due to its high price. Energy Stones came in natural and artificial forms. To solidify energy into such stable structures was incredibly costly. Large Energy Stones were considered strategic resources, one of the essential power sources for warships.

Yang Bo was still grinning when he received a message from the Company.

“Billing costs?” Yang Bo muttered, puzzled about why they were being settled suddenly.

After a call with Liu Zhijie, he found out that the client had backed out, meaning they would have to sign a new contract and pay compensation to avoid future troubles.

When Yang Bo arrived near the exhibition hall, he sensed something odd. It was as if he had some mysterious connection to the Razor Mecha inside?

“Sorry, the Dimension Company’s exhibition hall is closed, and this area is temporarily unavailable.” A Supervisor at SkyDome Amusement Park handed them a contract.

Liu Zhijie, curious, asked, “What happened with the Dimension Company?”

“We don’t know. They just said the exhibition was closed.” The Supervisor replied.

Yang Bo sensed something. Could it be that the Dimension Company was colluding with another party, or was the Space Button really stolen? Liu Zhijie hadn’t been asking seriously, so after signing the contract, he casually invited Yang Bo: “How about I treat you to a drink, and we can also discuss your career plans?”

Yang Bo was about to decline when suddenly, the mecha inside the Dimension Company’s exhibition hall moved. Many people witnessed the scene.

The blue mecha smashed through the glass of the exhibition hall and charged out. A group of figures emerged from the crowd; they had golden hair and wore ancient clothing.

“The Red Earl!” Liu Zhijie gasped when he saw the golden-haired figures and their attires.
