Chapter 38: Forced to Join
by xennovelYang Bo heard Liu Zhijie exclaim, and several people in the crowd leapt into the air like meteors, flying off into the distance.
In the next second, several dense beams of light landed on those flying out, and their entire bodies exploded.
“Get inside, everyone get inside! Anyone who doesn’t enter will be killed!” A mecha shouted while firing.
“These maniacs!” Liu Zhijie cursed.
“Hurry, get in!” Though he kept cursing, Liu Zhijie threw out a few words and darted off, completely ignoring Yang Bo.
Yang Bo hurriedly ran toward SkyDome Amusement Park, hearing continuous explosions behind him. When he turned around, he saw many anti-gravity cars being blown up, with some even erupting into small mushroom clouds—apparently due to some type of batteries.
Yang Bo was almost pushed inside by a flood of people. He ended up in the exhibition hall he had just cleaned, where he saw many people bringing in groups of others, some leaping dozens of meters to quickly enter.
Several police cars were blown up, along with the officers. The only weapon Yang Bo recognized was a high-frequency laser gun..
“Listen up, everyone. We’ve got hostages here. Look at this.” Suddenly, a loud voice rang out, and on the billboard outside the exhibition hall, a man clad in medieval armor with red hair appeared. He was also wearing an ancient helmet, and the red cape he wore stood out. In his hand was an old knight’s sword, but this sword was glowing blue.
In front of him stood a fat white man, looking particularly conspicuous. The Fatty’s face had turned pale.
“This is the Speaker of your Alliance’s Upper House. If you’ve got the guts, try firing your orbital cannons! And look here, see these? We’ve got a few more important guests—the shareholders of Ping’an Technology Company, Antai Bank shareholders, and a diplomat from the Crimson Federation. Tsk, tsk.” The knight in armor pointed his sword at each person in turn.
“I, Red Earl, we have been silent for years. Today, I declare that we have returned. Such a grand moment must be celebrated with blood.” The red-haired knight made an exaggerated gesture, raising both hands.
Then, he swung his sword, pointing it at a Ping’an Technology shareholder: “You parasites, die!”
On the big screen, the Ping’an Bank shareholder was dragged out and forced to kneel. It was only then that Yang Bo realized there were many others dressed similarly, except they wore black armor while the red-haired youth had silver armor.
In front of a crowd, the shareholder was beheaded.
Many were stunned by this scene, and a rush of people surged forward. Yang Bo was crushed painfully; suddenly, he realized he had been pushed right next to the Razor Mecha.
At that moment, Yang Bo felt something strange—the Razor Mecha seemed to resonate with him. It was a peculiar feeling, as if he could control the mecha? Outside the SkyDome Amusement Park, those who hadn’t made it inside were being shot indiscriminately by lasers, with horrifying results. Yang Bo also noticed that when ordinary people were hit by lasers, a large hole would burn through them, while Genetic Evolvers would explode?
“Is it because of the energy inside Genetic Evolvers?”
Somewhere, a fire or some other situation occurred, suddenly triggering the fire suppression system. A flood of foam spewed out, or maybe the system malfunctioned.
“Everyone, get to the concert hall! Anyone not inside within twenty minutes will die!” Another loud voice shouted.
The crowd hurried towards the concert hall, while Yang Bo was still feeling the Razor Mecha’s surface, sensing it closely.
Suddenly, he had a thought—the Razor Mecha disappeared. However, the foam that had filled the scene masked this, so no one noticed.
Yang Bo was a bit shocked. He could feel the mecha—he seemed to have some sort of connection with it. The mecha felt far away, but also close.
It felt like one of those magic items in novels, where you could sense its state. The mecha was ready.
Could this be because I absorbed the Space Button’s Energy Stone? Yang Bo thought to himself.
Boom! Boom! Boom! From the ground came a series of vibrations, and in the distance, several sealed manhole covers were blown into the air, spewing huge plumes of dust.
“Haha! Not only did we blow up the underground network, but we’ve also added some interesting things to it! If you don’t want everyone in this city poisoned to death, you’d better act quickly!” On the billboard, the red-haired knight laughed heartily.
“Sin will be judged, in the end.”
“The light will eventually shine upon the land.”
“We are justice, bravery, and fearlessness…” The red-haired man planted his sword on his chest, muttering to himself.
Yang Bo could no longer worry about anything else and rushed forward with the crowd. Through the huge glass window, he could see numerous mechas in the distance. All of them were silver, clearly standard military equipment. The sky was full of bright spots that grew larger and larger, and one by one, robots began to land on the ground.
The entire planet was in chaos now. Because of the high-tech shielding systems used by SkyDome Amusement Park, no reconnaissance equipment could detect what was happening inside. This system was originally meant to block out background interference.
As for the control center of SkyDome Amusement Park, it had lost contact.
As they reached the control center floor, Yang Bo noticed that the fire suppression foam had stopped spraying, but the ground was still covered with it.
Yang Bo slipped into a nearby store next to the control center, hid under a counter, and quickly took off all his clothes. He checked and confirmed he was invisible.
His wristwatch had no signal—probably blocked. He powered it off and hid it along with his clothes.
Yang Bo carefully avoided the remaining foam. Fortunately, there wasn’t much of it left.
He managed to slip into the control center and saw the security door had been violently breached. Yang Bo became even more cautious.
A security guard lay on the ground, his body covered in blood. At the end of the hallway stood a man in black armor, his face concealed by a metal helmet, holding a laser gun..
Seeing that the armored man hadn’t noticed him, Yang Bo stepped carefully, paying attention to his movements. The man in armor glanced around.
Seizing the opportunity, Yang Bo slipped into an open room. Inside, he was startled to find a man lying on his back, eyes wide open. There was a large hole in his chest, likely from an attack with a cold weapon.
This appeared to be some sort of department. There were about seven or eight corpses in the room, some with holes in their heads, others elsewhere. Judging by the marks, they had been hit by laser guns. The walls also had several holes.
Yang Bo entered the break room. Thankfully, it was empty, allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief. In a hidden corner, he deactivated his invisibility because maintaining it consumed too much energy.
Looking at himself now, Yang Bo wanted to find something to cover up with but decided against it after some thought.
“I’ll wait it out.” Yang Bo decided to wait for the situation to blow over. With so many people around, they couldn’t possibly kill everyone.
“Captain, we’re done.”
“Install the high-radiation bomb. The military will undoubtedly send its experts to regain control of the center as soon as possible.”
The voices outside made Yang Bo curse in his mind—damn…!
