Chapter Index

Yang Bo put down his cup and curiously asked, “Why?”

“Crack Void itself isn’t complicated. The complex part is the energy stone on top. This energy stone is called an Isomorphic Energy Stone.” Liu Zhijie shrugged.

Then Liu Zhijie sighed again, “But those who can afford it are really amazing. Take our planet, for example. The Guardians can kill any locked target on the planet within ten seconds.”

“Isomorphic Energy Stone?” Yang Bo looked at the boss with a curious expression.

Liu Zhijie nodded and pointed to the virtual TV, saying, “This time, the Energy Suit Red Earl wore was an Energy Suit, and it was crafted with an Isomorphic Energy Stone.”

“Isomorphic Energy… as the name suggests, it means that the energy’s frequency matches the user’s energy attributes. A weapon like Crack Void requires enormous resources to produce an Isomorphic Energy Stone, allowing the user to control it.”

“An Isomorphic Energy Suit is made from energy metal, and its energy perfectly matches the user, or at least has a very high compatibility score.”

“How do I explain? Whatever abilities the user has, the armor will replicate. You can think of it as an extension of their body.”

“Whether it’s Isomorphic Energy Stones or Isomorphic Energy Metals, their manufacturing processes are highly confidential. Once an Isomorphic Energy Stone is made, all of the user’s secrets will be known. Crack Void is famous, but not many people can use it. First, the cost is astronomical, and only big families or major corporations have the means to produce and use it.”

“Second are the government people. Guardians from every planet are equipped with Crack Void weapons, provided to them by their governments.”

“Third, remote support for secure communication data is also required.”

Yang Bo understood, feeling moved: “So the metal in my mecha is also isomorphic energy metal. Would that mean my mecha can go invisible while I’m using it?”

He grew excited at the thought. If his mecha could turn invisible, he could test it out when the time came…

“Who exactly is this Red Earl?” Yang Bo asked.

“Well, they’re descendants of an ancient empire’s nobility. On one hand, they want to restore the aristocratic system, and on the other, you know how nobles treated commoners in the past. These people kill those they deem guilty, like those in finance whom they see as vampires. You know what kind of people finance moguls are in today’s world.”

“But they also don’t see the common people as human. Every time they surface, a lot of civilians die. The status of residents is very low, but who dares to speak up? You wonder what’s going on in their heads, acting all mysterious. We were lucky the ace mecha pilot was there this time; otherwise, we might not have made it.”

“Red Earl took a huge loss this time. The commander’s silver Energy Suit was thoroughly studied by the Alliance, so from now on, Red Earl’s people won’t be able to escape. Once we crack their energy attributes and frequencies, finding them will be easy.” Liu Zhijie shook his head.

Yang Bo felt like this was some kind of cult. Otherwise, why would these people dare to broadcast to the entire Alliance, saying ‘commoners deserve death’? It’s just like on Earth. White people there obviously discriminated against people of color, but if anyone talked about it, they’d be locked away in prison for life.

“Red Earl’s people are unlucky. Mecha’s main form of combat is close-range. Long-range weapons are just for support. If the distance were really a few kilometers, railguns or space-based laser weapons would have fired loago.”

“They also don’t pursue intelligence evolution. Remote mecha pilots who undergo long-term training find these new weapons hard to use. People joke that these long-range mecha pilots’ brain processing power rivals that of optical computers. These weapons are good against unarmored targets, but against mechas…? I wonder if it’s some internal conflict within Red Earl or if someone managed to infiltrate them…”

At that moment, a woman’s voice came from the virtual TV: “Urgent news! According to Alliance Intelligence and military reconnaissance, we’ve discovered that members of the Red Earl Extremist Organization are employees of the Alliance’s second-largest logistics company, Red Crystal Logistics. There was a small-scale conflict at the skyport, resulting in 130 extremist members being killed. A large amount of evidence was collected.”

“This proves that Red Crystal Logistics is an industry front for the Red Earl Extremist Organization. The Alliance Parliament has issued a warrant to arrest all members of Red Crystal Logistics. The company has been declared a major target to dismantle.”

Seeing the wreckage floating above the skyport, Yang Bo finally understood why so many of the people he killed were warship pilots and repairmen. It turned out these people were… No, wait, those were transport ships! Could the people he had killed have been serving in a military fleet? Yang Bo gasped in shock. Have Red Earl’s people infiltrated the military? Should I get out of here as fast as possible?

Liu Zhijie saw Yang Bo’s shocked expression and thought Yang was surprised by the news. He shook his head and took a sip of water: “Who would’ve thought it was Red Crystal Logistics? Many will suffer because of this, but our business will boom.”

“Why do you say that, boss?”

“Those unlucky industries… Before anyone can take over, they’ll definitely clean things up. The judicial system won’t get involved, do you know why?” Liu Zhijie asked.

    “I don’t know.”

“Because they’re afraid of uncovering too many contraband items. If it becomes public, many people would have to resign. Even the heads of law enforcement might step down. The new buyers won’t want to get involved either. That’s where we come in. After all, we’re just ordinary residents. With so many contraband items in the Alliance, we don’t even have chips. How could we possibly identify them?” Liu Zhijie said with a sneaky grin.

Liu Zhijie said, “In my lifetime, if I could just get an Isomorphic Energy Stone and an energy weapon to play with, that’d be enough.”

    “Crack Void?”

“No, not Crack Void. Crack Void requires data support. You can think of it as a cold weapon made from energy metal.” Liu Zhijie replied.

Yang Bo nodded, thinking to himself that the energy metal sword on his mecha could technically be considered a cold weapon too.

Mechas are mainly used to compete for resources like energy mines and the like. Railguns or long-range energy weapons can’t be used because they would damage the resources, so most mecha combat is up close.

“By the way, are you buying a house? I could lend you some money,” Liu Zhijie suddenly asked Yang Bo.

Yang Bo quickly shook his head: “Not for now, I’m saving up on my own.”

Yang Bo was already planning to run. With Red Earl’s crazies potentially infiltrating the military, why would he stick around and buy a house? That’d be insane.

Quickly changing the subject: “Boss, buying an energy weapon shouldn’t be difficult for you, right?”

“Regular energy weapons without an energy stone can be found at the market. After all, many weapons belonging to past predecessors are still around. You might even find one that matches, or at least one with a decent compatibility score. But getting an Isomorphic Energy Stone, that’s the tricky part.” Liu Zhijie said, shaking his head after another sip of tea.

“Boss, what do you mean by that? Could you really use a predecessor’s energy weapon?” Yang Bo asked in surprise, though his expression was only half genuine.
