Chapter Index

“Did that woman leave?” Yang Bo felt a bit awkward. The person he was watching just packed up and left. It also seemed like there was quite a conflict between her and the new guy. Although he couldn’t hear what they were saying, their body language made it clear.

“Should I take action by force?” Yang Bo felt conflicted. The technology in this world was so advanced that if he were to kill someone, the authorities had many ways to track him down.

In his previous life, Yang Bo had studied forensics thoroughly. While he had some ideas in his head before, after reading about forensic science, he abandoned those thoughts.

Forensic science is a discipline used in investigations. If used wisely, solving a case becomes almost effortless.

The technology in this world is even more advanced, so there must be plenty of methods.

Yang Bo didn’t have any plans of wandering the stars just yet. Although there were quite a few space pirates causing chaos out there.

Though Yang Bo didn’t have any particular attachment to the country, he also didn’t want to become a pirate for no reason.

“You piece of trash! I’ll see what tricks you have. Don’t disappoint me. Hiding at home like a coward, just like that woman.”

“Should I lure the snake out of its hole and try to get into the guy’s house?”

Without hesitation, Yang Bo tidied up, put on a mask, and left the house.

“As expected, the guy made a move.” Just as Yang Bo stepped out of his residence, he used sonic detection and found that the man hurried out of his door too.

Yang Bo left his place and walked towards the small lake behind him. Even though it seemed like he was walking aimlessly, his movements had no clear destination, Yang Bo kept using his sonic detection to track the other guy.

“Damn, he went to my place!” Yang Bo was shocked. The guy had entered his home. The clothes the man was wearing seemed different as if they emitted a faint energy response under sonic detection.

“Sorry, pal, but I might just pay a visit to your place too.” Contemplating this, Yang Bo turned on his heel and made his way to the underground parking lot.

This premium private community’s parking lot was spacious, and there were no security cameras. However, patrols were making their rounds.

It wasn’t Yang Bo’s first time here, as he frequently came by to recharge his battery.

“I definitely need to get my hands on that Energy Suit.” Yang Bo stripped off his clothes, placed them in a hidden corner, knowing that the trash collection and cleaning times were set.

Yang Bo activated Invisibility and waited outside the man’s room, ready to pass the time in sheer boredom.

The place where the man lived was clearly more luxurious than Yang Bo’s place. There were only two households on this floor, and the other one had no one home.

After about ten minutes, Yang Bo spotted the man returning. The man was dressed in a gray hoodie, gray trousers, and gray shoes.

From the hoodie, Yang Bo could sense faint energy fluctuations—very weak yet present.

The man glanced around cautiously before pulling out his key. After opening the door, he first checked a marker he had placed on the ground.

Only then did he fully open the door and enter. With a light movement, Yang Bo swiftly slipped in behind him.

Yang Bo didn’t know how to pick locks, so there was no way he could open the door himself. Plus, since the guy had left a marker, Yang Bo didn’t dare tamper with it, unsure if he could replicate it exactly.

After entering the apartment, the man took off his hoodie and pulled a device out of his pocket.

“This bastard… he installed a camera to spy on me.” Standing next to him, Yang Bo could clearly see that the device’s display showed his own room.

Once the man activated the device and saw the image, he muttered quietly, “I really don’t know what the minister is thinking, sending someone like me to target a mere resident-level objective.”

“The company’s growing larger by the day, and the workers are getting more complacent. The oversight department should be dissolved.”

“But it’s strange—the resident has left no biological trace in that house. Not even a single hair. Is the guy a clean freak or what?” the man muttered under his breath again.

Yang Bo realized it too. In the past, it was normal to lose a few hairs during washing up, but ever since he gained more strength, his hair almost never fell out. He hadn’t seen any strands in a long time. Yang Bo found himself wondering why his Fat Boss lost so much hair.

“What company is this guy talking about? Should I torture him to get some answers?” Yang Bo made sure not to touch anything as he scrutinized the man, committing his features to memory.

The man had a very average appearance. Black hair, blue eyes, white skin, a high nose bridge, and unremarkable eyes. He didn’t look like a bad guy at all.

The man suddenly became a bit suspicious. He looked around carefully once more, then pulled out a mini energy detection device. After turning it on, there was no reaction. He proceeded to search the room methodically.

“Supervisor!” About half an hour later, the man activated his wristwatch. A beam of light shot out from the watch, displaying a virtual screen with a man seated on the other end.

Hearing the man respectfully call the other guy “supervisor,” Yang Bo’s mind raced: “So this guy is his superior?”

“How’s it going? Have you completed the mission?” The figure on the virtual screen asked indifferently.

“Supervisor, almost. I just installed the device in the guy’s house, but it was too clean—couldn’t find any biological materials. I plan to stage an accident once he leaves tomorrow,” the man shared his plan.

“Finish the mission quickly. You snuck in illegally. You have to leave on the spacecraft that smuggled you in within two days. Otherwise, it’ll be trouble if you’re discovered. The Alliance is furious right now.” the supervisor instructed.

“I’ll handle it tomorrow,” the man replied promptly.

Yang Bo carefully observed the virtual screen and spotted a familiar symbol in the corner of it. It looked like the logo of some major company.

“If possible, after obtaining the biological sample, make sure the target disappears,” the supervisor added nonchalantly.

“Understood. I’ve got the black serum,” the man responded casually.

As soon as the man ended the wristwatch communication, he suddenly sensed something was off. He turned to find a gray energy weapon glowing faintly right next to his neck.

“You…” The man tried to turn his head to see who had him, but the next second, everything went black as he passed out.

    Combat +16!

“Since you sneaked in, I won’t feel bad about killing you.” Yang Bo looked at his own hand. The reason he used an energy weapon was so that the man wouldn’t be able to move or panic, thinking his life wasn’t in immediate danger—making it easier for Yang Bo to finish him off.

The main reason was that this guy wanted to kill him. That wasn’t something he could let slide.

Plus, Yang Bo was interested in the man’s equipment. Just earlier, the guy had casually pulled out a tool and entered his house…

“I should also learn how to destroy evidence properly.”
