Chapter 57: Shameless
by xennovelThe Tiger-Faced King took his people to visit the neighboring house. If the neighbors were fine, they’d be guests. If not, the Tiger-Faced King would become the host—taking, moving, and killing as needed.
Yang Bo looked at a series of Metal Superpower +8! After carefully counting, there were already nine.
Suddenly, the mecha’s alarm went off. Yang Bo glanced down; at the cave entrance below the valley, the Silver Armored Rhino stuck its head out. With a quick motion, a figure was scooped up by the rhino’s horn, their body trembling all over atop the rhino’s head.
“Who did this Silver Armored Rhino run into? Could it be the Mutants sneak attacking the advanced mechas?” Yang Bo’s mind became clearer. The last ten or so seconds had been truly terrifying. At that moment, Yang Bo had forgotten he was playing a game and had begun to feel like he was running for his life.
It was perfectly normal for the Mutants to be underground. Once they took to the skies, they’d be targeted by the railguns. Yang Bo knew this better than anyone.
He maneuvered his mecha, positioning the energy shield in front to prevent a sneak attack by the Silver Armored Rhino. As he observed the beast, an idea popped into his mind.
“The game officials require us to catch it alive. Other players aren’t hunting the Silver Armored Rhino because there’s no profit.”
“But I don’t need profit. I’ve been sinking money into this game just to mess around. So, why not try luring the Silver Armored Rhino out to see if the railgun will fire?”
“Might as well give it a shot. If the railgun doesn’t fire, then I’ll know to stay far away from any mutant beasts that the game officials ask us to capture alive from now on.”
Yang Bo wasn’t afraid of the Mutants, mainly because he relied on the railgun. That’s how he killed the bull last time. What happened to those flying Mutants? Probably helped clear mobs for him.
Yang Bo checked his available Shockwave Bombs, then piloted his mecha, tossing one bomb directly at the Silver Armored Rhino, hoping to provoke it.
Boom! Unexpectedly, the rhino’s horn emitted an energy beam, causing the Shockwave Bomb to explode mid-air.
“This thing’s abilities are strange.” Alarms blared as Yang Bo’s mecha shook.
Then Yang Bo was dumbfounded. He watched as the Silver Armored Rhino placed the Mutant in front of it and stomped down with its thick, silver-plated foot, even flipping the Mutant over and stomping again.
“Dude, do you think the Mutants are with me?”
“It’s highly likely. I should provoke it some more and see if the Silver Armored Rhino kills the Mutant to showcase its abilities.”
Yang Bo quickly acted, maneuvering his mecha into the valley. In no time, he dismantled the arm of a high-grade mecha.
“Uh, since when did I become a mecha expert?”
“Could it be because of my Mecha Repair skill?” Yang Bo glanced at the disassembled high-grade mecha arm in his hands, pondering for half a second.
He then swung the mecha arm forcefully at the Silver Armored Rhino.
This time, the Silver Armored Rhino backed off, and the arm landed heavily on the already-trampled Mutant, making it convulse.
The next scene left Yang Bo stunned. From his position, he had a clear view of the cave where the Silver Armored Rhino stood. The beast opened its enormous mouth and gulped down the mecha arm as if it were a snack, finishing it off in just a few bites.
“What the…”
Watching this scene, Yang Bo was shocked. Then a crazy idea came to him.
“This thing isn’t too smart. It figured out how to use a Mutant to provoke me.”
“But at the same time, it’s not entirely dumb. It knows the Mutants aren’t on my side. So, maybe it’s just a bit slow-witted.”
“This creature might be a key resource in the game—or maybe even on this planet. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have survived this long.”
Yang Bo’s mind buzzed with an idea, though it was still a bit far-fetched: What if he could somehow get along with this beast?
Besides, no one cared about the discarded mechas. If the Mutants didn’t steal them, he’d just be mocked for scavenging. Damn it!
Thus, Yang Bo started dismantling the mechas—eight high-grade mechas, pulling off legs and arms.
After dismantling them, he tossed the wreckage to the Silver Armored Rhino. True to form, the beast ate the debris, not in some enraged, furious way, but calmly.
Within ten minutes, he finished dismantling all eight mechas, tossing the remains to the Silver Armored Rhino, which devoured them all. Only the mecha’s batteries remained.
Batteries were useless, though. Every mecha came with its own set anyway, and the others couldn’t be used due to safety protocols.
Yang Bo threw a battery toward the Silver Armored Rhino, but it didn’t eat it. Instead, the beast stared at Yang Bo with its large eyes.
It then kicked the Mutant by the cave entrance, sending him flying toward Yang Bo.
The Mutant landed about ten meters away from Yang Bo, his body stiff and looking as if he had some sort of condition.
The Mutant glared at Yang Bo angrily. It was supposed to be a powerful Metal-Evolved Mutant, but had the misfortune of encountering the Silver Armored Rhino, whose energy could rapidly age metal.
This group of Mutants had successfully ambushed the high-grade mechas and fled into the cave. But once inside, as they had gathered to assess the situation, things went wrong.
Yang Bo, misunderstanding the situation, had stuffed two hydrogen bombs into the cave, leaving the Mutants dumbfounded.
The bombs had nearly caused the entire mountain to collapse. Though the Mutants barely used their superpowers to dodge the mini hydrogen bombs, a moment later they were discovered by the rampaging Silver Armored Rhino.
Then the Mutants were ruthlessly slaughtered. If they could have killed the Silver Armored Rhino, they would have done so long ago.
In the tight underground space, the Mutants had no room to dodge. Except for a few who managed to escape, the rest were all killed by the Silver Armored Rhino.
To the Silver Armored Rhino, anything with two legs was on the same team. It held a grudge against Yang Bo’s mecha and offered the strongest Mutant to taunt him.
But little did it expect Yang Bo to offer metal from the mechas. The mecha metal was exactly what the Silver Armored Rhino needed. That brain-dead creature probably thought sparing the Mutant was doing Yang Bo a favor, so it kicked the Mutant toward him.
Yang Bo wasn’t sure what to do. Who was this Mutant? What abilities did it have? Thankfully, Yang Bo didn’t take long to decide. Within seconds, a silver mecha descended 20 meters from Yang Bo’s mecha.
Boom! A shockwave echoed across the sky.
Startled, Yang Bo quickly reacted. Damn it, someone was trying to steal the kill! With a flick of his controls, Yang Bo’s mecha swung its five-meter-long plasma sword furiously toward the Mutant.
Metal Superpower +16!
The pilot of the silver mecha was stunned. He’d rushed here to capture the Mutant leader alive. Who would have thought that the Razor Mecha had gone mad?
At that moment, from the distant cave, the Silver Armored Rhino kicked yet another critically injured Mutant at Yang Bo’s feet.
“This is ridiculous…” Yang Bo was about to finish off the Mutant when the screen suddenly went black. Enraged, he cussed loudly.
After his rant, the game resumed, but the live Mutant had disappeared. Only the silver mecha flying away remained as a shadow in the sky.
“Shameless! Shameless! Shameless!”
“I’m going to file a complaint.”
“This is rigged!”
