Chapter Index

At this moment, out of the corner of his eye, Yang Bo saw several beams of light falling far away, not in his city.

Some unlucky person got hit by a railgun.

Then he saw lasers firing from the ground into the sky, probably ground-based laser cannons. Yang Bo shuddered and shrank his neck in fear.

Right then, the doorbell rang. Yang Bo went to the door and saw, through the video, that a property manager was downstairs.

“Sir, this is the new community notice. The community is going to undergo renovations soon and upgrade the security alert system.” Yang Bo went downstairs and the property manager handed him a paper document.

    Yang Bo nodded, “Thank you.”

    “You’re welcome, sir.”

Soon after, Yang Bo noticed that two more people had moved into the dormitory building. One of them had blonde hair, black eyes, pale skin, and a cold expression. The other had black hair, black eyes, yellow skin, and a stone-faced demeanor. Both had been given the community notice.

The three of them didn’t greet each other, and the other two lived upstairs.

“It seems the boss might be planning to flee,” Yang Bo said, rubbing his chin as he returned to his room.

Carefully reading the notice, it mainly mentioned upgrading the community’s security system and required superhumans to register. If you hadn’t registered before, now you had to do it yourself.

If you didn’t register, any abnormal behavior detected by the security system in public areas of the community would be at your own risk.

“This feels a bit like ‘that’ now,” Yang Bo thought. It reminded him of the bases on Earth, where in the past, if a car didn’t follow orders to stay clear, they’d be warned. Later on, if a car tried to break through, they’d just go rat-tat-tat, without caring whether you meant harm or not.

Metal Superpower: High-level (103/1000). Yang Bo stared at this skill, thinking silently. Slowly, his fingers turned black as metal, then his entire hand, and eventually his arm.

Looking into the mirror, he saw his skin gradually turning into metal, even his hair became metallic.

After his entire body’s skin had turned to metal, Yang Bo looked at his jet-black appearance.

“Damn, if I had this in my past life, I wouldn’t have to worry about food and drink,” Yang Bo murmured. Although his skin was black, his eyes remained the same, and his teeth were still white.

Feeling inspired, Yang Bo activated his skill, but then his eyes widened in shock.

    ??? – 5%!

All his skills had vanished, leaving only three question marks with a 5% after them. Everything else was gone.

“What the heck?” Yang Bo quickly returned to normal.

He checked his skills again, and everything was back to how it was, fully displayed.

“I’ve used 30% of my internal energy.” Yang Bo quickly realized something was wrong. His energy levels had dropped just from metalizing his skin. How much energy would it take to metalize his whole body?

Earlier, Yang Bo had thought about using Metal Superpower to attack enemies by summoning blades, swords, or weapons, but with modern technology, weapons were mostly futile.

Yang Bo’s wild plan was to fully metalize himself, turning into a humanoid mecha. Since he had Electric Power Control, he could charge himself like a mecha battery and even discharge electricity.

With Dynamic Vision and Sonic Control, he could act as radar, but he didn’t expect that metalizing his skin would cause his skills to disappear.

Yang Bo metalized his skin again and whistled.

“Holy crap.” After metalizing his skin, the feedback to his mind was enhanced tenfold, and the details increased to a pixel level of a hundred million.

“Could it be that the metalized skin amplifies the feedback from sonic waves, like a sonar antenna?” Yang Bo realized that his Sonic Control acted like sonar. To others, it was just a normal whistle, but for him, the situation was different.

On Earth, submarines work the same way. Unless you know their sound signature, it’s easy to detect them. But if their noise is covered by sea noise, you can’t tell there’s a submarine there.

Like bats. When a whole colony flies together, they don’t crash into each other because each bat only interprets its own passive sonar. The rest is useless noise to others. Otherwise, they’d all crash into each other.

“This is strange,” Yang Bo thought, triggering a Sonic Control attack. To his surprise, its power was ten times stronger, turning a metal ornament into dust.

After reverting back, Yang Bo noticed his energy consumption was much higher than when he was just using his regular body.

“So, metalizing my skin doesn’t enhance my actual power; it just increases my body’s explosive strength, working like an amplifier,” Yang Bo quickly figured it out.

With this body’s current superpowers, his output wasn’t as strong as when his skin wasn’t metalized…

“Could I fly if I fully metalized my skin?” Yang Bo’s mind wandered.

But he immediately dismissed the thought. If he tried flying, he’d likely get blasted to ashes by laser weapons, leaving no trace ois DNA. He’d just be listed as a missing person.

“It seems killing that mutant earlier was because their abilities didn’t suit them. This time, the mutant’s ability got passed to me,” Yang Bo realized another truth from the incident.

Now, all Yang Bo wanted was to work peacefully and max out all his skills to Grandmaster level. That way, he could easily slip away and live well somewhere else.

“Don’t get cocky!” Yang Bo warned himself. His current power wasn’t even enough to take down a ground Drone Fighter.

And in a one-on-one, he couldn’t beat 90% of mechas. Mechas were at the bottom of the military hierarchy, even though ultra-high-energy metal mechas were rare.

But mechas were still crucial because many resources had to be fought for using mechas. Even if a warship won a battle, if their side’s mechas lost the resource fight, they couldn’t just fire the warship’s main cannon and destroy the resources.

Yang Bo continued to train his ability to metalize his body. His speed increased from needing one minute to full skin metalization down to just two seconds.

“Tsk tsk, this metal skin is tough,” Yang Bo thought. When his skin metalized, it felt like he was wearing Energy Suit.

“I wonder if the Energy Suit at the energy weapons store is still available. If I wore that and then metalized my skin, it’d be like wearing two layers of armor. And if I piloted a mecha, that would be three layers!”

“Too bad there’s no place to take the mecha out for a spin. Should I flee with the boss?”

“If I don’t leave, I should quickly buy a house with an energy-shielded basement. Not only could I train my superpowers there, but I could also operate my mecha.”

But since the boss hadn’t emailed or called, Yang Bo didn’t plan to ask on his own.

“Whatever. Let’s enter the game.” The only thing Yang Bo could do now was enter the game and focus on leveling up his skills.

“Damn game company is a total rip-off. Fixing my mecha cost me 1.8 million credits.” Yang Bo complained to himself as he looked at the expenses deducted. Mechas were ridiculously pricey because they were monopolized by a few big companies. Take the Razor Mecha, for example. You couldn’t even buy one in real life; they were only provided to the Military. Private collectors had to pay ten times the Military’s price and couldn’t even activate it—only look at it.
