Chapter Index

Yang Bo was also eager to see what kind of good stuff Iron Bull would bring him.

While waiting, Yang Bo opened the forum to check out what was going on. Why wasn’t it as he expected?

When he opened the forum, Yang Bo was dumbfounded. Two factions were arguing. One side consisted of those who had set him up, mocking him. The other side surprisingly supported him—these were the mechas armed with long and short guns.

But after taking a closer look, Yang Bo realized that the people supporting him didn’t really care about him. They were more interested in opposing the other group. Both sides were going back and forth, cursing each other fiercely on the forum.

Seeing this, Yang Bo chuckled, “Finally, someone’s stepping in. It’s just a game, why act so crazy?”

But Yang Bo also knew that some people were always confident. On Earth, in a certain country, whenever a man got near a woman, she’d claim harassment. They even created separate subway cars just for these women.

Some people didn’t realize that women-only cars weren’t set up to protect women, but to protect men.

Similarly, the laws in this world were absurd. There were more laws protecting small animals than humans.

Yang Bo had figured it out. In any human society, there’s no such thing as utopia. Everyone has their own agenda. No one works selflessly for others.

Yang Bo used to think the country he lived in was a true parliamentary system. But after some research, he discovered it was controlled by various forces—families, and big corporations.

The opposition often objected for the sake of objecting. They didn’t care if the issue was reasonable or not.

After watching for a while, Yang Bo exited the forum. At that moment, Iron Bull showed up at the cave entrance again. But this time, what Iron Bull kicked to him made Yang Bo dumbfounded.

A horn. It looked like Iron Bull’s horn, but it was hollow at the back, like it had shed. “Alright then, I’ll leave first,” Yang Bo said as he looked at Iron Bull’s small watchful eyes. He picked up the horn, waved goodbye, and left.

Without enough bombs, and with those unknown mutants hiding somewhere, Yang Bo had a nagging feeling—he was being watched by the mutants the moment he left the base. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have appeared so quickly.

Last time, killing just one bird without gaining any skills was already a sign. These mutants’ bio-technology had reached a terrifying level.

“Haha, what a curse! Our neighbor’s seriously injured this time,” Tiger-Faced King laughed loudly in an underground space. “Tell the underlings to keep tabs on that mecha and feed the info to our neighbor. He’s so petty, especially after taking such a huge hit from two mini hydrogen bombs. If he doesn’t retaliate, everyone will mock him.”

The shockwave of hydrogen bombs is much greater in water than in the air. Of course, it’s mainly because these mutants were too close to the blast radius.

“Once the Justice Gang has replenished the mecha, I’ll take them for a stroll through the underground world.” Yang Bo smirked as he controlled the mecha to return to the base and logged off.

Before, Yang Bo didn’t dare venture into dangerous areas because he only had a crappy mecha. But now that he had a team, even if the team was just ‘temporary’, as long as he ran faster than his companions, he’d be safe.

The reason he planned to go underground was that high-class mechas could fly. If trouble arose outside, he wouldn’t be able to outrun anyone.

“Good stuff,” Yang Bo muttered to himself. He had no clue how valuable the horn Iron Bull gave him was. The game’s official forums said it needed to be appraised.

After logging off, Yang Bo trained in Camouflage for a bit. Looking into the mirror, he saw himself with muscles like Sylvester Stallone, his body packed with muscles.

Yang Bo was preparing multiple templates so he could transform quickly when needed.

After eating, Yang Bo was considering practicing Metal Superpower again when he received a message from the Fat Boss.

Then he headed out. Upon leaving, he noticed two tall iron pillars had been installed in the community. At the top was a sphere, and the area was still under construction. When he got closer, he realized—it was military-grade energy detection equipment.

Shaking his head, Yang Bo continued to the Company.

Upon arrival, the Fat Boss handed him a document. “Yang Bo, the government is compensating you 1.25 million credits for mental distress and so on. The Company’s compensation to you is 800,000 credits. SkyDome Amusement Park is compensating you 300,000 credits, plus your recent salary.”

Yang Bo reviewed the document carefully and then signed it. The Fat Boss added, “Yang Bo, I’m planning to leave this planet. Not just me, a lot of people are leaving. Have you thought about what I mentioned last time?”

“Where are you going, boss?” Yang Bo asked.

“To March Planet, a new colony planet with more opportunities. Its most famous feature is its three massive moons. The travel time will count as paid work, and the compensation you’re getting is enough to buy a big house. Plus, new colony planets have relaxed childbirth policies,” The Fat Boss handed Yang Bo some documents.

The Fat Boss then mumbled to himself, “Pado Planet recently saw the installation of tens of thousands of energy-detecting devices. If people with superpowers fail to report them and get detected, they’re in big trouble.”

Yang Bo remembered Wu Bing had also mentioned that many people seemed like ordinary residents but secretly had superpowers.

“Boss, why are people like us allowed to have factory babies? Didn’t the failed injections pollute our genes, making it impossible?” Yang Bo asked, finally getting around to a question that had been on his mind for a long time.

The Fat Boss sighed, “Gene injections, if successful, stabilize the direction of evolution. Gene injections come in many types, like fire energy genes. Over 99% of those who evolve through fire energy injections have fire-related superpowers.”

“When polluted genes combine, there’s a small chance a new superpower may emerge. Though the odds are low, quite a few famous people were born as factory babies,” the Fat Boss explained further.

It all made sense to Yang Bo now. Once a Gene Serum succeeds, its superpower direction is clear. To get a whole new type of superpower, someone must awaken naturally.

“So, what do you think? Want to join me? The head office is offering a chance at gene evolution—either Ancient Martial Arts or Secret Techniques. We’ll try to find out what Gene Serum you had before, so the next one doesn’t conflict with it,” the Fat Boss asked, looking at Yang Bo.
