Chapter Index

Yang Bo was still dazed. What exactly happened? Was it really his fault?

Soon, the water flooded the cave that looked like a mine, and wails echoed from within.

“What kind of mutants are these? They seem so weak!” Yang Bo was confused. Weren’t mutants supposed to be powerful? Why did these mutants seem just like normal people? “I gotta run!” Yang Bo couldn’t waste time figuring out where he was and tried to escape. Just then, the Mecha’s alarm blared.

Boom! Before he could react, the alarm resounded in the tunnel he was climbing. With a hard push on the control lever and the Jetpack engaged, the Mecha slammed forward. This time, Yang Bo activated the energy shield at the front of the Mecha.

One mutant was harshly pinned to the rock wall by the massive Mecha. Since Yang Bo was climbing uphill and the mutant was descending, the mutant’s head was right in front of the Mecha’s head.

Bang! Instinctively, the Mecha’s head shot forward, smashing the mutant’s skull.

    Bio Summon +8!

Yang Bo froze at the pop-up. What kind of skill was that? Just then, he noticed more alarms going off in the upward tunnel. Wave after wave of mutants were flooding in. He quickly turned around and tossed a Shockwave Bomb.

As the torrent of water surged, Yang Bo let the Mecha flow along with the current.

“Oh god, please help me. Please help me.” With alarms blaring inside the Mecha, Yang Bo prayed silently.

Suddenly, light shined in front of him. Yang Bo realized that the Mecha had shot over a towering waterfall and was now plummeting down.

In the next second, Yang Bo engaged the Jetpack, and the Mecha swiftly flew off into the distance.

“Where am I?” With the Jetpack guiding the Mecha, Yang Bo landed on solid ground. It looked peculiar, almost like it had been artificially carved, but clearly hadn’t been used for a long time.

The radar’s range had shrunk significantly, barely covering a few dozen meters—basically like a human with severe nearsightedness.

Thankfully, the visual system was still intact. There were stairs present, definitely not naturally formed, leading deep underground.

Yang Bo heard a buzzing sound behind him. Looking closely, he saw mutants being swept into a massive underground reservoir beneath the waterfall. Electric eels were attacking the mutants, sending sparks flying off their bodies.

Eyeing the lone hydrogen bomb, Yang Bo grabbed it with the Mecha’s arm, first cutting one end, then the other.

The hydrogen bomb’s core contained radioactive material. It only becomes clean after detonation with no residual contamination.

“Heh!” Yang Bo chuckled, throwing the dismantled, overcharged hydrogen bomb remnants into the water. To his surprise, the electric eels started gnawing on the debris.

“Too bad my Mecha still has to function, otherwise…” Yang Bo almost considered dismantling the Mecha’s nuclear power cell, but giving it up would mean the Mecha wouldn’t move anymore.

Time to go! The water level was rising fast, and Yang Bo wasn’t sure what was going on.

While Yang Bo was searching for an exit below, Bird Slasher Gang and Justice Gang had been completely wiped out.

Bird Slasher Gang had followed Justice Gang closely, and people from Justice Gang had started cursing at Bird Slasher Gang over the Mecha’s comms systems. Naturally, Bird Slasher Gang cursed back.

At that moment, more than 300,000 people were watching the live stream, and Bird Slasher Gang had already earned over 30 million game credits in profit.

Just then, the Justice Gang and Bird Slasher Gang were hit by the hydrogen bomb’s shockwave. The confined space beneath ground was affected, sending even high-tier Mechas rolling through the tunnels.

In an instant, viewership skyrocketed, surpassing a million. Justice Gang’s high-end Mecha’s automatic ranged weapons continuously fired lasers, killing mutants that got too close.

To this point, not a single one of Justice Gang’s Mechas had been lost, while they had killed over a dozen mutants, though these mutants had been too weakened by the hydrogen bomb to fight back properly.

It was practically free kills. Justice Gang and Bird Slasher Gang’s Mechas were now tangled together, hurling insults at one another. The live stream forums were on the verge of exploding.

But less than a minute later, luminous figures charged from the darkness. These mutants were like warriors, with both arms turned into sharp swords exuding a faint green glow.

In such a tight space, the Mechas couldn’t perform well in combat. Bird Slasher Gang’s melee Mechas couldn’t even swing their weapons. Some Mechas tried to charge out but crashed into the stone walls, and the players blacked out!

The forum audience watching the livestream was ecstatic.

“That was worth 100 credits. Over 40 Mechas obliterated in under 10 seconds!”

“This is classic! First time in this game so many high-tier Mechas got crushed by mutants.”

“Amazing! When can we see something like this again?”

“Yeah, but seriously, the underground world just isn’t good for large-scale Mecha teams. Everybody knows that.”

“It’s just that their reflexes were slow. They were too busy hurling insults!”

    “Where’s Bird Slasher Bro?”

“I bet he’s the first one down. Didn’t you see those dozen powerful mutants rush in?”

    “Exactly.”

“Haha, a third-gen Mecha caused the greatest tragedy in the game’s history.”

“Haha, that was epic. We need more streams like this. Man, so many Mechas!”

Bird Slasher Gang and Justice Gang members were cursing each other out on the forums, while other spectators joined in the chaos.

Yang Bo saw a string of bio summon messages appear in the underground passageway. His head was spinning.

“Damn, over 4,000 meters underground.” Yang Bo looked at the approximate depth, based on pressure readings.

Yang Bo no longer expected to return, but he still hoped to gain more experience points. Unfortunately, it seemed like there weren’t many other life forms around, and the radar was being heavily jammed.

“Underground city?” Yang Bo soon noticed a glow in the distance and saw a vast underground chamber, hundreds of meters high, brightly lit, with mutants flying around, and some buildings scattered about.

“Holy crap.” Yang Bo decided to retreat, but the next second, several mutants over two meters tall appeared in front of the Mecha, clad in Energy Suit.

“What? The Calamity Star has come here?” The Tiger-Faced King stared in shock at his general, Jin Gang, as he asked.

“Yes, General, he’s right there.” Jin Gang was also frustrated that a human Mecha had infiltrated their lair.

“Where did this damn thing come from?”

“It seems to have come from the death reservoir. I’ve already sent people to investigate.”

“Let’s go check it out.” The Tiger-Faced King pondered for a moment, his eyes darting as he spoke.

“My lord, our neighbors were attacked. All the cave lizards they summoned were killed.”

“Hahaha! Good, good! Our neighbors will be starving now. What happened?”

“That Calamity Star somehow figured out where the neighbors’ cave lizard summoning path was. A couple of hydrogen bombs took care of them. You know how it goes—high-end Mechas followed the star, and most of our troops got crushed. Only a few small ones escaped. I also heard one of our underground reservoirs got destroyed, flooding the neighbor’s mining site.”

“Hahaha! I get it now.” The Tiger-Faced King glanced at the surrounding terrain in his mental map and understood exactly how the Calamity Star had ended up in his territory.
