Chapter 81: Sneak Attack! Sneak Attack!

“Hehe! You’re the one!” This time, Yang Bo arrived at the place where the defense squad kept their mechs. He selected a mech with a high-powered laser cannon, similar to a heavy sniper type mech.

Normally, Yang Bo would never dare to choose this kind of mech since it required a high level of skill to operate. But in his current state, the mech felt as familiar as if he’d been using it for years, with his proficiency maxed out.

“Old ladies pick soft persimmons, so don’t blame me for choosing the easy ones.” Yang Bo began searching with the mech. He already knew where the enemy leader was, so he focused on the surrounding corridors, where the mech squads would have to pass.

As he approached a nearby compartment, Yang Bo heard someone shouting inside: “You people inside, come out now! Ten minutes, or we’ll break open this door and send you flying into space with the cargo!”

It was a storage hold with four mechs and five pirates in energy suits. These pirates hadn’t actually checked if anyone was hiding inside; they were just shouting loudly. In any case, they were here to destroy the hold, whether or not there were people inside.

The pirates operating the four mechs felt a bit bored. In a situation like this, the mechs were virtually invincible, unless that guy with the Crack Void showed up. But even so, the firepower web of the four mechs would suppress him. Not to mention they had a few guys in energy suits on standby.

Just then, the alarm system on all four of the pirate mechs suddenly blared loudly.

The mech pilots didn’t have time to activate the laser auto-system before their mechs became unsteady and then crashed heavily to the ground.

At that moment, the laser auto-system hadn’t been switched on due to their mission to capture hostages. If the laser system was activated, the hostages would have been turned into a pile of ashes.

The pirates in energy suits didn’t have time to react before they were picked off one by one by laser fire. These pirates were particularly unlucky because the energy suits don’t remain constantly activated—they would drain too much energy. Believing the four mechs meant they were safe, they had felt no danger.

What happened was that, under the jetpack’s thrust, Yang Bo’s mech shot across the floor and rammed into the four pirate mechs. The pirate mechs fell like bowling pins, collapsing instantly.

Meanwhile, Yang Bo’s mech’s laser cannon had already been programmed to target enemies in energy suits instead of the mechs. Within less than a second, the five pirates exploded into what looked like fireworks.

The pirates reacted quickly and activated the auto-defense of their mechs’ laser cannons as they fell to the ground. But there was a flaw in their auto-defense system—it couldn’t tell if the mech it had locked onto was dead or alive, as all the mechs were now tangled up together.

After smashing into the pirates, Yang Bo controlled his mech with both hands. Gripping onto the laser cannon of one mech with one hand, his other hand stabbed a melee weapon deep into another mech’s cockpit. The pirate pilot had just activated the laser defense system when the massive cold weapon pierced through the cockpit.

The laser cannons on the other three mechs began their auto-defense fire, but Yang Bo lifted one fallen mech and slammed it into the remaining three. The other mechs’ laser cannons, which had just finished charging, now didn’t know what to target, as their identification system registered the fallen mech as friendly.

This was a major flaw of the intelligent identification system—it couldn’t tell if a friendly unit was dead. Meanwhile, Yang Bo’s laser cannon, which was larger and slower, unleashed a more powerful attack.

After throwing the mech, Yang Bo launched his own mech forward at the three remaining mechs.

Two of the pirate mechs fell again, smashed by the flying mech Yang Bo had thrown. One managed to roll out of the way and quickly regained its footing.

Charge!

Yang Bo’s Jetpack activated, and his mech charged forward like a bayonet attack.

His mech took several laser hits, and his cockpit lit up with warning alarms. But it didn’t matter. The Jetpack propelled him forward, and with a massive thrust, he stabbed the cold weapon into the enemy mech’s cockpit.

Yang Bo’s hands moved like afterimages inside the cockpit as he controlled his laser cannon to fire on the remaining two mechs. At the same time, he deactivated the gravity system, stomped hard, and instantly shot up over a hundred meters high in the air. A second later, Yang Bo performed an elegant spin, and his jetpack burst to life.

The two remaining pirate mechs furiously opened fire with their laser cannons. Yang Bo’s mech had almost lost full control, but the immense force of the jetpack sent Yang Bo like a giant steel monster crashing down on them.

Mecha Piloting+8!  As he dove, his cold weapon was aimed right at one mech. He nearly sliced this enemy mech in half.

Only one enemy mech remained. The pilot instinctively screamed over the radio, shouting “Boss! Boss!” However, the Transport Ship’s compartment had great shielding, so no signal could get through.

The downed pirate pilot didn’t have time to get his mech back up before seeing Yang Bo’s mech raise a leg and hammer his cockpit.

Yang Bo’s mech lay on the floor with one of its legs raised high, slamming down into the pirate mech’s cockpit. The pirate was knocked to the ground as well.

Yang Bo’s hands were still trembling after the fight. His mech had sustained over 50% damage—several components wouldn’t move, and even the laser cannon had malfunctioned. That last strike was the absolute limit of Yang Bo’s calculations.

He could say without a doubt that if there had been even one more pirate mech, he would’ve been finished.

The whole fight seemed long, but it had lasted less than five seconds.

“Damn! This is more exciting than gambling! No wonder so many people want to become mech pilots!” Yang Bo got his mech to stand unsteadily, picked up the wrecked mechs, and tossed them into a nearby passage.

A massive vacuum outside the Transport Ship sucked the mechs out, shredding them to pieces as the spinning ship crushed them. As for the pirates in energy suits, well, maybe some bits of them would be swept up later.

“Let’s do this again!” After one fight, Yang Bo’s confidence surged. These guys weren’t so tough. Plus, Yang Bo was still in the shadows. They’d never expect there to be any mechs left on the Transport Ship. Anyway, if it didn’t work out, he could always run. What was there to be afraid of?

Yang Bo also realized that the mechs on this ship couldn’t communicate with each other at all because the signal-blocking was too strong.

“Should I try to take out their leader first?” A crazy thought flashed in Yang Bo’s mind. Others might think it was impossible, but Yang Bo figured he could pull it off. He could use his laser cannon through the walls and snipe the enemy leader from behind. With his Metal Superpower, he could locate the leader’s position and fire directly beneath him, right where he sat!
