Chapter 82: The Pirate Leader’s Regret
by xennovelThe second Mech used by Yang Bo from the guard squad was also thrown into space. The Mech’s AI was directly destroyed by the massive Electric Power from Yang Bo!
Yang Bo absolutely couldn’t let anyone know he had the ability to control other Mechs. Looking at where the guards stored the Mechs, Yang Bo decided he would destroy this area later, sending everything into space so no one would know.
After gaining control of another Mech, Yang Bo prepared to eliminate the leader.
The Pirate Leader had no idea he had already lost five Mechs, along with several men. Due to communication issues, there was no way to communicate this in time.
Of course, the Pirate Leader couldn’t have imagined that someone on the transport ship could control a Mech. If he knew someone could do that…
He definitely wouldn’t have been so careless, because with four Mechs and a few pirates, even a single Mech would be difficult to defeat.
Yang Bo slightly underestimated himself. His performance in Mech training left him dissatisfied, but the training is programmed. The AI already knows your reactions.
It responds to your reactions, which feels like cheating to him. The opponent in training predicts whether you’ll move left or right slightly ahead of time. The training is primarily to train Mech pilots’ reflexes.
In real battles though, you don’t know how the opponent will react. You can only respond after seeing their move.
Don’t underestimate that time difference. This is why, during Yang Bo’s previous fight with the Red Earl, many thought he was an ace Mech pilot. His reflexes and prediction skills were top-notch. As for the apparent mismatch of the Mech, everyone assumed it was a third-generation model. The fact he managed to perform at that level with a third-gen Mech showed his real skill as a pilot.
No one knew inside the Mech was a newbie pilot who had just started using Mechs.
In Mech games, Yang Bo could slice through birds ten centimeters wide in mid-air with a massive knife, or stomp a mouse from hundreds of meters away with pinpoint precision. Such control is extremely rare.
Birds fly in random directions, but they can also react instinctively. This makes shooting a bird much harder than hitting a moving target.
The third Mech was in his hands. It took three minutes to acquire control this time. Yang Bo also recharged himself, calming down after the charge.
Yang Bo noticed that after his skin became metallic, his mind grew exceptionally calm. His reflexes became calmer as well. Just like when he smashed another pilot’s cockpit with his leg, thinking back on it made him feel amazed! He had only instinctively reacted at the time! “Could Mech Pilots evolve into killing machines in the end?” he muttered while controlling the Mech.
Yang Bo didn’t know how many Mechs the enemy had, but he guessed it was no more than 50. He had already taken down a tenth of them.
This time, Yang Bo went through a maintenance tunnel, completely disabling the Mech’s gravity system, putting it in zero-gravity. He used both hands to crawl along the tunnel walls, moving quickly.
By using the maintenance tunnels, he avoided many areas. Unsure how many Mechs the enemy had, and fearing he might run into their main force, Yang Bo arrived at the ambush spot he had chosen.
He cloaked himself again, scouting the area quietly. After confirming the enemy presence, he positioned his Mech, waiting for them to fall into his trap.
The Silver Moon Pirates really had terrible luck, running into a freak like Yang Bo. Not only could he control Mechs, but he could also go invisible and scout their positions!
In fact, Yang Bo originally wanted to hide. After all, considering how many skilled pirates were out there… let’s just say he’d rather be captured than let them find out he could summon Mechs out of thin air, cloak, or go invisible.
Exposing any of these three abilities was as good as a death sentence.
Was there even a point to checking the pirates’ reactions? So what if he saw them? These pirates were professionals. Yang Bo, a noob who had barely touched a Mech for a few days, didn’t want to wager his own Mech in this fight. He figured even if he was captured and sold out, he could still rise again as long as he had a Mech.
One reason was because the pirates were forcing him. Another was that controlling other Mechs felt much better.
After all, it’s not his own Mech. Breaking it doesn’t hurt, does it? With a real fight under his belt, his confidence started growing…
“Where is everyone? Where are those pirates?” Yang Bo began searching from the sports arena, working his way outwards. After a while of seeing no one, he decided to head back toward the arena.
Returning to the sports arena, knowing where they were, Yang Bo sneaked a peek from another angle. He spotted six Mechs and around a dozen people. The number of hostages on the ground was far greater than before. The leader was still on the platform.
“These Mech pilots are experienced. They’re standing in positions that can easily provide fire support!” Yang Bo analyzed the positions of the pirates’ Mechs. Early on, this knowledge had been foreign to him, but after seeing it, his mind filled with relevant information.
Yang Bo understood his skills only represented his potential, while real expertise needed constant practice.
While Yang Bo lay in ambush, chaos erupted aboard the pirates’ warship.
“We’re in trouble. We detected more Mech debris, most of it from our own Mechs!”
“What’s going on with the transport ship? Why can’t we contact the Mechs stationed there? We’ve transmitted less than 20% of the data and still can’t reach the boss. Now what?” In the warship’s command room, everyone looked grim. The ship had been badly damaged, affecting its operational capacity and draining energy.
Additionally, the transport ship’s shielding capability prevented communication between the people on the warship and the Pirate Leader.
Recently, the pirate warship detected several intense energy spikes, followed by lots of debris. Upon further scanning, most of that debris was found to be from their own Mechs. These fragments made up around 80% of the total fragments.
For each Mech, as long as you know the material composition, even if it becomes fragments, you can analyze the data to pinpoint what type of Mech it came from.
Without these Mech fragments, the pirates on the warship may not have panicked, but their appearance signaled increasing losses on their side.
“Ten minutes left. The boss said we should contact him every half hour. Ten minutes to go. If we can’t reach him after that, we’ll know something’s gone wrong,” the warship’s commander said calmly.
