Chapter Index

The two of them stared at each other for at least five seconds before both instantly turned and ran. Yes, they both ran!

The Pirate Leader ran because no matter how strong one is, they can’t beat a Mech—especially one that appeared so suddenly and mysteriously! Were there others nearby?

Yang Bo ran because his Mech was basically beyond repair. Other than being able to walk and move one hand, the laser cannon was broken, and even walking seemed difficult.

After both sides ran, the Pirate Leader suddenly stopped, realizing instantly, “Something’s wrong! I’ve been tricked!”

The Pirate Leader recalled the opponent’s Mech was covered in scars, clearly having just been in a battle. He had come to this place because there was a team of Mechs destroying the cargo bay. Now, it seemed they were in grave danger! The Pirate Leader immediately gave chase because a Mech pilot with a Mech is untouchable, but without it, they’re just weaklings! Easy to kill.

It’s like playing a game—in the game, you’re a god, but outside, you’re just another otaku.

Although the analogy is a bit inappropriate—after all, Mech pilots still have some combat ability. They are also Genetic Evolvers, but their evolution focuses on control and calculation, unlike those geared toward actual combat.

The Pirate Leader, quick to react, gave chase but only caught a glimpse of a shadow.

Yang Bo also responded quickly, but with his damaged Mech, he couldn’t move as fast, and the energy transmission was also affected.

When the Pirate Leader started running, Yang Bo hesitated for a moment before also fleeing, activating his jetpack. Unfortunately, the jetpack wasn’t running very stably, so Yang Bo quickly maneuvered his Mech into a maintenance tunnel.

The Pirate Leader turned just in time to see Yang Bo operating his Mech into the tunnel. The Pirate Leader looked at the maintenance tunnel sign, “That bastard is hiding in the maintenance tunnel?”

The Pirate Leader now believed that the person inside was a Mech operator from the ship.

After all, anyone not part of the transport ship crew couldn’t enter the maintenance tunnel.

Only professional maintenance personnel could enter here since it required access permission.

With a wave of his energy weapon, the Pirate Leader ripped a large hole in the maintenance tunnel’s entrance and crawled in.

The transport ship’s maintenance tunnels were far larger than those on warships as they were primarily meant for robots, not humans.

Yang Bo had detected the Pirate Leader’s pursuit, especially after hearing the sound of the tunnel entrance being torn open.

Run! Run fast! Yang Bo dashed toward where the Mechs were stored. Once he got there, the Pirate Leader would no longer pose a threat. As for his own Mech, Yang Bo wouldn’t use it unless absolutely necessary.

The Pirate Leader felt uneasy as he moved through the maintenance tunnel, unsure whether Yang Bo was alone. In the next second, the Pirate Leader exited the tunnel.

The Pirate Leader rapidly moved throughout the transport ship, passing entire rooms in an instant. Soon, when he reached the area where the transport ship’s guard kept their Mechs, he noticed a few were missing!

“What’s going on?” The Pirate Leader knew there should have been ten Mechs here, but now several were missing!

The Pirate Leader opened one of the Mechs’ cockpits and destroyed its central AI system before closing it again. He then operated the remaining few Mechs and hid nearby.

The Pirate Leader felt a surge of excitement. From the current situation, it was clear that someone had gained access to the Mechs’ control systems. A superhuman who could hack other people’s Mechs—wasn’t this exactly the kind of person he needed? With someone like that, he could steal other people’s Mechs and never again watch high-end Mechs be reduced to scrap!

Mechs have tight security systems, and not just anyone can hack them. Those who attempt it are hunted by the military and Mech companies because Mechs are primarily used by the Military.

In any society, once capital reaches a certain size, any malicious behavior targeting it will face backlash.

In outer space society, one of the most untouchable entities is the Mech companies. These companies are akin to Earth’s military-industrial complex.

“Insidious! Deceitful! Shameless!” Yang Bo disposed of the Mech in his hands and hurried over, arriving just in time to see the Pirate Leader sabotaging the remaining Mechs’ AI systems and hiding nearby, clearly planning an ambush.

“I need to get rid of this guy. If I don’t, word will spread that someone can access the Mechs’ control systems. Even if no one suspects it’s me, once that information gets out, the people on this transport ship might all end up dissected!” Yang Bo made a firm decision to eliminate the Pirate Leader.

Yang Bo had long harbored a disturbing suspicion: since alien beasts could be used as raw materials for Gene Injections, could genetically evolved humans also be used?

If so, wouldn’t Gene Serum companies begin making such moves?

It sounded crazy, but Yang Bo knew that reality could sometimes be much worse than anything imagined.

If his ability were exposed, it wouldn’t matter what level of citizenship he held. Unless he had a powerful force backing him, he would become nothing more than a pawn in someone else’s game.

It wouldn’t be just about being controlled as a pawn. The real fear was ending up as a raw material for Gene Injections.

“I’ve got it!” Yang Bo quickly devised a plan.

Using Invisibility, Yang Bo entered through another maintenance tunnel entrance and used his Sonic Control to search the cargo bay. Soon, he found a group of ordinary people trembling in a corner.

Yang Bo plucked a hair from one of them. The person thought it was just a bump from a companion and glanced behind them, seeing no one.

Instead of disguising himself as someone else, Yang Bo worried the Pirate Leader might have a biological chip. If so, he’d likely know everyone’s details on the ship.

Yang Bo then intentionally moved closer to the Mech storage area, near another maintenance exit. Wearing a repairman’s uniform, he cautiously opened the exit and looked around nervously.

“Him?” The Pirate Leader, hiding in the shadows, was surprised. According to the records, this man was an ordinary person. He wasn’t even part of the transport crew, yet here he was, dressed up in a repairman’s uniform. Interesting!

The Pirate Leader watched as Yang Bo stepped out of the maintenance tunnel. A smirk appeared at the corner of his mouth. The next second, he saw Yang Bo shut the maintenance exit.

“Don’t run!” The Pirate Leader was momentarily stunned, realizing he’d been spotted. With a furious roar, he charged towards the maintenance exit, tearing it open with his energy weapon. His Energy Suit gleamed as he rushed inside.
