Chapter 88: A Righteous Brother’s Harsh Decision
by xennovelOver the next two hours, three more pirate squads fell victim to Yang Bo’s special treatment. Their deaths were almost identical to the first group’s, except one mech managed to react quickly enough to activate an automated laser cannon system. Yang Bo’s mech took a hit.
He gained a series of mecha piloting and warship repair skills! “Damn scum, he’s a B-grade mecha pilot!” Yang Bo looked at his mech, now full of dents, and felt heartache.
Thankfully, the energy metal could absorb energy and automatically repair itself, but it would take time.
Yang Bo decided to put his mech away for now since this was the last pirate squad he’d found.
In fact, Yang Bo had come across a couple more pirate mechs earlier. Unfortunately, they had hostages, and it would be a problem to attack since killing the hostages wasn’t an option.
The news of an extra mech on the Transport Ship absolutely couldn’t get out.
After some thought, Yang Bo headed outside the Transport Ship. There were certainly more pirate mechs out there, communicating with the warship. Time to take care of them! Just as Yang Bo stepped out, he spotted two mechs. Next to them stood a few pirates, all wearing energy suits!
After exchanging some hand signals, Yang Bo led the group inside the Transport Ship. Although communicators worked outside, the vacuum environment made speaking impossible without using energy suit isolation. Yang Bo’s energy signature was different from the pirate leader’s, so getting too close might expose him.
Once inside the Transport Ship, the other party spoke anxiously.
“Boss, we’re in trouble! Our warship’s been taken over by that damned bastard!” Yang Bo heard the familiar voice through the communicator. Although the communicator had a recognition system, Yang Bo’s body was an identical biological match to the pirate leader, except for the soul.
The body was completely the pirate leader’s, so gaining access to the communicator’s functions was as easy as pie. After all, the communicator wasn’t exactly high-tech. “What? Third Brother, say that again!” Yang Bo recognized the silver-armored pirate’s voice. Some called him Third Bro, Yang Bo remembered hearing it!
“Boss, look!” Third Bro handed Yang Bo a device.
It was a virtual image player.
“Pirates aboard the Transport Ship, greetings! Please allow me to introduce myself. I am the Chief Security Officer of March Planet!”
“Your warship is now under my control, and I’ll be commanding it to capture any escape vessels. Don’t even think about slipping away under my nose! I’ll bring you all to March Planet to face the law!”
“Additionally, I’ve already notified our fleet via the communication system to head to your base. Your families and fortunes will be seized by our planet’s fleet. If you want a lighter sentence, you’d better treat the others on board kindly!”
“Also, this warship is fully under our control, not by me alone. Don’t forget, there are other citizens of March Planet aboard!” In the footage, a seemingly ordinary young man sat in the warship’s cockpit. Behind him, the once-loyal crew members had collars around their necks. Weren’t those the same collars pirates used on others? A chubby figure in the image looked especially familiar to Yang Bo. Isn’t that my boss? What’s he doing on a pirate warship? Was he afraid of dying, or is he trying to stir up trouble aboard their ship? Strangely enough, a blue-hued Crack Void was radiating a faint glow in the young man’s hands!
“Boss, what should we do?” The pirates on site were all shell-shocked. Their warship had been taken over, and escape seemed impossible! In the next moment, Yang Bo made an unexpected move, slashing upward with his energy weapon! “Warship repair +32!”
The silver-armored pirate stared in disbelief at his boss as his body was suddenly lifted weightlessly. Red and white fluids sprayed out, creating floating blood-red streaks. Once dead, the energy suit’s gravity system deactivated, and the corpse floated in zero gravity.
The remaining pirates were dumbfounded. What just happened? That was Third Bro! His boss’s close brother!
“You still dare ask me what to do?”
“Every time we’re out, you only think about yourself. If it weren’t for you sneaking out of the main control room, someone wouldn’t have sabotaged us!”
“Our crew is in this mess entirely because of you!”
“For your little selfish gain, you’ve put all of us in such danger!”
“Now our families and fortunes are gone, and what do you think will happen to us when we face legal judgment? It’s all because of this damn fool! “The communicator crackled with their boss’s voice, filled with rage.
Yang Bo was just as shocked. Who would’ve thought an A-grade enhanced lifeform could be killed so easily?
Well, duh. Who’d expect betrayal from their own boss?
The remaining pirates were starting to feel anger too. If Third Bro hadn’t snuck off to check the energy weapons, the main control room wouldn’t have been sabotaged, and none of this would’ve happened. If the Transport Ship’s control room weren’t compromised, they’d all be enjoying their loot right now.
This scene didn’t go unnoticed by those aboard the pirate warship either. They were just as astonished. Fortunately, the communicator buzzed back to life. The Chief Security Officer of March Planet quickly pieced everything together.
No wonder, when I went to the transport ship’s control room, it was just small fry there. No one capable of putting up a fight. So it was this greedy fool sneaking off! If a skilled fighter had been there, it wouldn’t have been so easy for me!” “Let’s go, we’ll talk things through before acting. Pass a message to that traitor on the warship. It’s best he doesn’t provoke me, or we’re all dead!” Yang Bo didn’t know what to do next. His only thought was that each pirate he killed boosted his skill points, so why stop now?
Besides, Yang Bo suspected the warship’s takeover could potentially resolve peacefully given everyone’s desperate circumstances.
Anyone want to disagree? Then killing them will solve that problem!
The remaining pirates nodded. Two mechs and a few more pirates hurriedly followed Yang Bo to the Sports Arena! After watching the video, the pirates in the arena fell silent. The Transport Ship had spiraled out of control, and even killing all the hostages wouldn’t ensure their escape. On the other hand, surrendering only meant being subjected to a harsh legal judgment. They might rot in prison for the rest of their lives.
“Brothers, it’s all my fault. I blamed Third Bro for this mess, but I should’ve kept him in line better!” Yang Bo saw that everyone was silent and decided to break the tension. “Boss, you’re not to blame for this. Third Bro has always been like this. Honestly, we’ve wanted to mention it for a while. It’s fine to love money, but he could at least wait until after the job’s done!”
“Boss, we know you’re upset. After all, you were closest to Third Bro. Nobody expected things to go this way!” Yang Bo silently hoped more brothers like them would appear!
