Chapter 92: Fat Boss’s Consolation

Yang Bo wouldn’t come out voluntarily. After all, he was just an ordinary resident. Hiding deep in the cargo bay matched his character setup. Wandering around would make him stand out too much and definitely arouse suspicion!

While thinking about whether his actions might expose him, he realized there were no signs of exposure and was relieved. Everyone who had seen his mecha was dead! Yang Bo then relaxed and waited in the cargo bay, feeling quite pleased. “I now have a second identity. This is great! Haha! If anyone dares to mess with me, I’ll use either my identity as the Red Earl or the Pirate Leader for framing, or even assassination! Hahaha!”

Four days later, Yang Bo was starting to doubt whether the pirate warship had docked with the transport ship. Suddenly, a voice came over the cargo bay’s broadcast system.

“Citizens of March Planet, you can come out now. We’ve dealt with the pirates! You are now safe!” Though Yang Bo heard the announcement, he had no intention of coming out.

After all, a broadcast is just a broadcast. Who knows if it’s true or not?

Of course, Yang Bo knew it was true, but many of the hidden citizens wouldn’t come out either.

After waiting for half a day, a sudden beam of light flashed before his eyes.

“Yang Bo!” Fat Boss’s voice rang out at the same time! “Boss?” Yang Bo replied, looking timid and pretending to be blind.

Liu Zhijie had actually been on the transport ship for some time, but because the ship’s central AI system was under repair, it took a while for the main system to activate. With it back online, they could now use the smart devices aboard to locate the residents.

Liu Zhijie searched each one individually. After all, these people wouldn’t trust strangers showing up out of the blue.

“It’s me! Don’t worry! The fleet has arrived! They’ve temporarily repaired the main control system’s AI!” Liu Zhijie looked at Yang Bo’s cautious, bedraggled appearance and sighed inwardly. Luckily, the kid was unharmed, though he had some terrible luck getting caught in this mess.

“Boss…!” Yang Bo’s voice was choking up… cough cough. His camouflage ability was working well.

“It’s all over. Everything’s fine now. You’re safe!” Fat Boss looked at Yang Bo cowering in a dark corner of the cargo bay. Seeing some discarded items scattered on the ground, he felt a pang of guilt. After all, he had run away faster than anyone!

Fat Boss had been riding a cargo robot. This type of robot could transport all the cargo from the bay since, in a zero-gravity environment, it didn’t take much force to move them.

The robot worked like a floating flatbed trolley, using suction to attach to the cargo when transporting it.

There were also a few other people on the robot, all subordinates of Fat Boss. After all, if anyone came to find people now, they wouldn’t trust unfamiliar faces!

“It’s fine now. It’s really over. The piracy incident has been resolved perfectly, and a huge Alliance fleet is outside!” As Fat Boss walked, he spoke softly, comforting his subordinates.

“We’re going to receive a large compensation this time.”

“It’s enough for all of you to settle down and buy a house on March Planet.” Fat Boss painted a rosy picture to ease everyone’s nerves. And to be honest, once they thought about the compensation, they did feel a lot better.

Meanwhile, on the other side, the Chief Magistrate of March Planet had a dark expression. After all, the Pirate Leader had vanished, and even though the transport ship’s monitoring and surveillance systems were repaired, they couldn’t find a single trace! Several dozen pirates from the transport ship were also missing, along with their mechas. Someone had clearly taken them down.

The Chief Magistrate felt this person had incredible strength, at least ten times stronger than himself! The only clues left were traces of intense combat in the ship, along with signs of mecha battles. The Chief Magistrate’s head buzzed. There had been someone operating mechas? Unfortunately, since the ship’s main system had been damaged, no recordings had been made!

There had been a large number of pirate mecha fragments detected on the pirate warship. However, the Chief Magistrate wasn’t planning to pursue this any further. Since this mysterious person hadn’t shown themselves, it was clear they didn’t want to reveal their identity.

If this person happened to belong to some secret department and he tried to dig any deeper, it would only cause trouble. Besides, he was taking credit for all the success. If this person was found, the credit would inevitably shift to another department! “Chief Magistrate, please hurry. Our fleet has an urgent task after this, and if it weren’t for the ten thousand citizens, we wouldn’t have stayed!” a cold voice came from the communicator.

“Commander, please give us another thirty minutes. We’ll evacuate completely within that time. Once we’re done, feel free to destroy the transport ship!” The Chief Magistrate wasn’t planning to look into the mysterious powerhouse and wanted to cover up the traces so his achievement wouldn’t be questioned.

“Since the Pirate Leader is still missing, I suspect he’s hiding somewhere aboard the transport ship. Also, due to breaches in the ship’s walls, much of the cargo has been exposed to space radiation. To prevent those goods from being misused, we need you to destroy the ship.” The Chief Magistrate gave his rationale!

“Understood!” a voice responded.

“Boss, where’s our luggage?” Yang Bo asked, seeing how Fat Boss had brought them all out so quickly. He was worried about their belongings.

“The luggage is a lost cause. The breaches in the transport ship’s walls allowed space radiation to seep in, ruining all the cargo, including our luggage. But the insurance company will compensate us. Besides that, the company that owns this ship will pay for the psychological damages we’ve suffered. The local authorities on March Planet will also give us additional compensation to soothe our nerves.” Fat Boss explained directly.

“Yang Bo, once you get to March Planet, your compensation will be more than enough to buy a house. Once you’ve bought a house, you can use the remaining money to settle down, find a woman, and have kids. The bio-tech company will select healthy embryos based on your and your wife’s sperm and eggs, and they’ll implant them to guarantee your child will be healthy.” Fat Boss continued.

Yang Bo knew that people who had failed gene evolution carried certain pollutants in their genes, which was a side effect of the gene injections. Because of this, private marriages and childbirth were not allowed. A baby could only be conceived through bio-tech procedures filtering out genetic contamination to produce healthy embryos! “We were lucky this time to run into a fleet. Otherwise, we’d have all been dead!”

“Follow them now and change into your new clothes. I need to pick up two more people. None of the hidden survivors trust strangers!” Fat Boss pointed at a passage and instructed.
